Watch the BBC first on iPlayer 👉 bbc.in/iPlayer-Home Morea bout this programme: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01fkc5n Professor Mark Miodownik reveals why aluminium became the metal that took us into the age of flight.
Professor Mark Miodownik travels to Israel to trace the history of our love affair with gleaming, lustrous metal. He learns how we first extracted glinting copper from dull rock and used it to shape our world. We see how our eternal quest for lighter, stronger metals led us to forge hard, sharp steel from malleable iron and to create complex alloys in order to conquer the skies.

good show this. presenter is a bit nerdy but he really knows his stuff & the show gets into quite a decent level of depth, unlike some documentaries.
special effects could've done with a higher budget; not necessarily by much, by they're a definite weakness.
but either way, i'd happily sit through 10 episodes of this dude talking about materials. pity there's only 2 more
