Recently, my team and I helped a student jump from a Band 6 - Band 8 in IELTS Writing Task 2. How?
We showed her how to improve her introductions!
Your introduction is the first part of your essay that the IELTS examiner will read. Therefore, you MUST make a good first impression.
In this video, I’ll compare a Band 6 and a Band 8 introduction so you can see exactly what the examiner is looking for.
I’ll also reveal the 7 things you should NEVER put in your IELTS introductions, including:
    ❌ A hook
    ❌ Cliches
    ❌ “High-level” vocabulary
    ❌ A background statement
    ❌ A poor thesis statement
    ❌ Memorised phrases
❌ The same format for all essay types
Watch until the very end where I’ll share my proven 3-step method for writing a strong Task 2 introduction!
I hope you make the most out of it :)
    Chris

Here’s the question we answered in the video:
Many argue that schools are no longer necessary because children can learn so much from the internet and be educated at home.
    Do you agree or disagree?
    ***
What to expect in IELTS Writing Task 2:
🖋️ You must write an essay in response to a question.
📋 It is important that you write 250 words or more.
⌛ You should spend around 40 minutes on this section of the IELTS test.
📝 Task 2 is worth 2/3 of your total mark for IELTS Writing.
🗝️ The key to doing well is knowing exactly what the examiners want and giving it to them.
    ***
How you will be assessed in IELTS Writing Task 2:
    ✔️ Task Achievement (25%)
    ✔️ Coherence and Cohesion (25%)
    ✔️ Lexical Resource (25%)
✔️ Grammatical Range and Accuracy (25%)
    ***
    Your questions answered:
❓ Should I use personal pronouns in my essay?
📚 You should try to avoid using these, but it is fine to use them when giving your personal opinion.
❓Will using lots of idioms and phrasal verbs boost my score?
📚 No! You should not use idioms in Writing Task 2.
❓ Is it possible for me to score a Band 8?
📚 Yes! However, the average IELTS score is 5.5, so you need to work EXTRA hard to get a Band 8.
❓ How many paragraphs should I write?
📚 Four. Most IELTS Writing Task 2 essays follow the same basic four paragraph structure:
Introduction - Main Body Paragraph 1 - Main Body Paragraph 2 - Conclusion
❓ Will I lose marks if I don’t write enough words?
📚 Yes. If you don’t write at least 250 words, you will lose marks in ‘Task Achievement’ for not answering the question fully:(

Thanks for wonderful information on the introduction, Chris! There are myriad of tutors out there that give misleading info as a result test takers go astray and begin to think that IELTS is challenging them. I have found only some resources reliable. They are following: IELTS advantage, Liz IELTS as well as materials by Pauline Cullen. Highly recommend for the students who are aiming to pass the exam with flying colours to learn only from these resources!

I used to frame like this. ist A general stmt abt the topic. 2nd paraphrase the topic in own words 3rd Tell the reader my plan.
I have written in below way before reading instructions and then corrected too after going thru ur full video
With the advancement in technology and the expansion of internet connectivity and availability, many things are now become accessible online, even education. That is why, majority of parents nowadays think, that there is no need for sending their children to school. I too agree with this thought as now knowledge can be directly imparted from home, because there is abundance of content already available on the web and is comparatively cheaper in price.
Then I write 1 para on learning platforms on internet, 2nd on sky rocketed school feels, 3rd on parents themselves can teach children and then conclude

Simply amazing. Valuable advice for people aiming at higher score in IELTS or TOEFL exam. SIMPLIFYING is at its best in this lesson, and I share the same vision when it comes to smooth writing style.
On the other hand, a memorised structure with cliches works better for people oriented at 5.5 to 7 score because simple and beautiful style requires months of training that students might not have. Furthermore, after 2 hours of stress, writing anything readable at all is already a considerable feat for an intermediate level student.
I am grateful for this eye-opening video. I will use your advice in my exam and will let you know if it works.
