The Oregon Ponderosa Mine by GIA. In this video, John Woodmark discusses the Oregon ponderosa sunstone mine. He reviews how sunstone gems goes from manufacturing to the market. Oregon sunstone, the official state gemstone since 1987, is natural copper-bearing labradorite feldspar. Some examples exhibit red to green dichroism, and fine specimens larger than five carats can sell for more than $1,000 per carat. The road to the Ponderosa mine gains in elevation as the scenery gradually changes from meadows to thick stands of tall ponderosa pines. Plush Oregon sunstones are found in the plush Oregon area. They’re rapidly gaining attention as natural and untreated products of the United States, due to their unique optical and physical properties.

That is factually incorrect. Oregon sunstone is unique to the region.
The sunstones in Sri Lanka have hematite or iron inclusions not copper like the Oregon Sunstone.

If they had a different name they would no doubt be worth more money, but the name sunstone sounds common or low cost like sandstone, a unique name would greatly increase the value.

It sounds like the man made "Sunstone" made with glass, and flecks of copper... Cheap sounding.
