    Wow, this video has kinda convinced me that Royal Caribbean ships are second to none when it comes to ship design. This ship look amazing. My next cruise MUST be on an oasis class.

      We've loved the "promenade" style ships on Royal... Symphony, Allure, Mariner, Adventure... more than what they call the "esplanade" like Odyssey. Curious to try some more esplanade ships in the future though and give them another shot!! :D

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  Před 2 lety

      The promenade is a huge open area that runs almost the entire length of the ship, and is usually three or four decks tall, as we've shown on Symphony, Mariner, etc. The esplanade style is more broken up where you've got several smaller components... like an atrium, then a separate shopping zone, then maybe a section with a couple of bars, things like that sort of separated from each other. We've only shown the Odyssey so far with that style. We love the big open concept of the promenade though!!

    I just can’t do it, it’s too big. I know I’ve said this here before but I’m still pissed off that they put giant TV screens on the lido decks of ships because it took away the intimacy of being at sea. I just wouldn’t feel like I was on a ship but rather a floating city, or mega mall. It’s just to big. I’m neurotic & traumatized that Carnival is building ships the size of the Mardi Gras & that one day they won’t have any smaller ships & the oasis class is what? Twice, three times the size? It’s just too dammed big for me.

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  Před 2 lety

      They are biiiiig ships that make it easy to disconnect from the ocean and feel like you're walking around in a mall, ha ha... which is the exact opposite of what most folks want from a cruise, eh? :P

    • @drdata1967
      @drdata1967 Před 2 lety

      @@parodeejay that’s definitely how I feel, but apparently there are a bunch of people who don’t think that way since in “normal times” ( which I can’t even remember anymore , one of my jobs I’m going into my third season at and I’ve never worked there when there wasn’t a pandemic happening) but in “ normal times” they don’t have any trouble filling the ships & they aren’t cheap to go on. That’s my fear, that CruiseLine’s will say “ Why should we build a ship for 2 ,000or 3000 passengers when we can build one for 5,000 passengers & sell it out. There’s apparently a lot of people who want to go on a cruise where being on the ocean isn’t the main interest of the majority of the people . I go on a ship & all I want to do is look at the ocean, feel like I’m on a moving ship on the water in that magical other world where your normal life is on hiatus & you’re living ship life & not land life. I really detest that I now have to have my cellphone with me and not sitting in the safe of my cabin only to be turned on when I disembark Apparently there are a ton of folks who don’t want that , they’d prefer a ship to be a mall or casino where you don’t look outside or go outside. Me, I get up at 4 AM, fill my coffee , find a nice quiet spot on deck & watch the sunrise and stay there all day with my book only going inside to eat. I miss the older ships, the original Holiday was big enough, the original Mardi Gras was great. I am crushed that all the ships are new. I used to love going on older ships that had a history like The Norway, I used to love going on old transatlantic ships.
