I feel like I'm not even considering Doomsday Blues or Go Tobann to be risks because at this point with our qualification record, choosing Love like us or Love me like I do looks like we'd have a certain non qualifier. At least with Ailsha and Bambie Thug, both songs sonically are memorable and lend themselves to creative staging which if I will say one thing weve done alright in all of our non qualifications is that our staging has been mostly alright.
So to me its either, pick a song we know won't qualify or pick a song that has a chance and for once pick the bolder choice.
I'm already dreading our televote and Irish jury because their mind set time and time again in our selections is choose the "thats nice, thats grand" option so I think it might play out that way again I'm just hoping Ailsha and Bambie Thug dont end up near the bottom of the leaderboard for those votes and an international jury can support them.
Also while the boyband might pose a threat, Erica is essentially the Wild Youth of this years selection so I wouldn't be surprised if the public like her song and vote for it.

I feel like Love Me Like I Do, Let Me Be The Fire, Judas and Love Like Us are not risks because there's no "risk" of them qualifying. I'd say Go Tobann and Doomsday Blue are the safe options.

@@dizzard5297 100%. The plus side perhaps of going with Doomsday Blues or Go Tobann is that they have staging potential, whereas I can't imagine the others to be terribly exciting with staging.

I think most Irish Eurofans are feeling Ailsha or Bambie Thug (very split down the middle for which one leads) but public vote-wise, they may be seen as too out there by the wider public (I hope not). Arguably Ailsha might be that little bit more accessible though. So the international jury will be important for us to make this happen and send one of those!
Just to give you some help with the pronunciations, Go Tobann is pronounced guh-tub-ben!
    Also Ailsha is Ale-sha! ☺️

Ireland definitely has to do more. Probably because of a lack of neighbours but there have definitely been many semis where worse songs have gone through and Irelands song somehow ends up 13th or anywhere besides 11th and not even close to qualifying. 2014 and 2015 spring to mind.

I would go with Bambie Thug. Ailsha's song is funny, but I'm not sure if people would get it and the music is far too loud and I can't hear the vocals. Of those safer songs I would pick Isabella cause it sounds current and it reminds of a song from Eesti Laul last year, So Good At What You Do.

Are you arguing that rte have not learned their lesson because some songs are radio friendly and no radio friendly songs should be in eurosong? Because the fact that we have two risky songs that aren't radio friendly show me their learning and we need some radio friendly to keep things diverse

@stevieboy666 you and I will have to disagree so. 1/3 of wurosong is radio unfriendly high quality. That's a better ratio than most nfs and is 200% more radio unfriendly than last year. It has to be Bambie Thug or Ailsha for the win or I despair. Bambie is my 1st choice but I would also be very happy with Ailsha. Agree with everything you said about Erica Cody's song. I actually find it the most generic out of the six songs. Its a definite none qualifier for me and I'm really scared about the amount of people that think it's the best choice. It is generic AF and not her usual type of music she sings! Basically it's Wild Youth 2.0! Just another artist who has an out dated vision of what Eurovision is & obviously hasn't even watched it. Tired of artists like this. Time for us to try something completely different and we have two risky but in my opinion brilliant choices.

The melodic line in the chorus of Go Tobann sounds strangely ethnic to me. I keep envisioning some kind of Irish dancing. Ofc, completely modernized. Could be really cool if executed well.
Edit: I wrote that just before you mentioned traditional touches!
Doomsdays Blues is still my favorite. I don't like the production on Go Tobann, it's too busy and condensed. Maybe she could tweak it a bit...

Im not the biggest fan of Erica Codys song but her voice and performing skills are brilliant so Id love to see her get her own NF instead next year like Saara, Eden etc.. i agree the R&B vibe would help.. its Rachel Goode but a bit less retro.

Ok as a competitive standpoint I think there is only two options and that’s go tobann and doomsday blue ….. while I love Erica and Isabella these songs are like wild youth created where we know it’s a throw away song for Eurovision. Their back catalogues are better than what they are giving
My concern is while go tobann is more likely to qualify than doomsday blue it will get tanked by juries. Plus with the mix of other counties it will get bottom 5 I think if doomsday blue qualifies it will get a higher position. I just worry how will they both be staged like Ireland never really had songs like these so I am worried about stagings for these songs.
While love like us is cute and might have a demographic … is it for the people that will pick up the phone and vote I don’t think so.
While I know Ireland want to qualify I think the risk is needed
Overall the selection is decent no real bad songs or songs I dislike it isn’t one of the best we had in years I think last years was a whole lot stronger than this year

    Hi!
I agree with your personal favs! Ailsha and Bambie are mine aswell. Also just fyi Bambie goes by they/them pronouns :)
On who I think will win now: I think its gonna be between the boyband and Erica. Biggest problem with the boyband is, if they end up in the allocation draw in the first half of any semi they get 100% the 02 running order and then they will be toast. Erica on the other hand as of right now she gives me borderline NQ vibes HOWEVER, that being said I feel because the song is so basic they can do a lot with it? Revamp it _a lot_ put a dance break in it we know that Erica can bring the choreo. Let her have backing dancers and let them do a big show and maybe if the semi is not that strong she could sneak right through as a qualifier.

I agree with you Alesia that the boyband is better than last year as they are actually young handsome guys with a decent genre song. Not special but fits the genre. Wild Youth was a bunch of 30 year olds trying to appeal to 17 year olds haha. No "youth" at all.
The problem though, is whilst theres a sterotypical demographic they can tap into (straight teen girls and gay teen boys whod hang their poster on a wall/middle aged moms who think they are adorable and innocent), i fear that demo wouldn't be a large enough chunk of esc audience.
Id say the people who largely vote in esc are 18 to 40 year olds. Primarily 20s and early 30s. Theyd make up probably 2/3 the vote.

Some people think Go Tobann is the safest option compared to Doomsday Blue, but I kind of disagree, I feel like it lacks layers, dynamism, and people might find it even more off putting. The song starts at a 10, stays at a 10, and ends at a 10, I love it but it’s basically just a bunch of chaotic noises for 3 minutes straight. Doomsday Blue is a bit more experimental with the mashup of different genres but its structure is little more familiar, it has layers and the listening experience is a lot better, feels like a journey rather than just chaos
