- HEY GUYS IT’S BEEN A WHILE! So happy to be back doing dance videos! Here’s a lengthy emotional af description of what this piece is:
Escape:
Our relationships aren’t limited to people- they exist in many other ways. Our relationship with dance is an old one, one we’ve both been in since age 9. It’s like an old friend that we’ve grown up with and alongside.
There’s an interesting line when you turn something you love into a job or business. It’s always THE dream to turn something you love into a career, but what if some things are best kept separate? Pressure changes things. When we put pressure on dancing for the income or the views, we realized we lost part of the curiosity and passion we had for it in the first place. We felt lost and didn’t feel inspired anymore to make videos. Our relationship with dance hit a low, so rather than worsening things, we left it alone for a while. Looked for purpose in it again.
We realized we love to create. As we come back to dancing, we now know why it’s important to us: it allows us to express ourselves best. What you can’t say in words, can be expressed through movement. Our dance fusion is a metaphor for our lives: Part Indian, Part American. Our ultimate goal with dance? To bring out the beauty of ancient Indian dance forms through our 21st- century lens.
We could do a lot of things with dance, but we’re choosing to do what keeps our relationship with dance curious and passionate. Some things are meant to be kept sacred. Why do we dance? Dancing allows us to express ourselves, create beauty, and inspire people. So that no matter what happens or how old we get, it’ll always be here with us on our beautiful journey called life, here just for us.
This music piece was inspired by the act of human nature where one battles their fear of failure in order to create a path of successes in their mental health, goals, and life vision. Basically, escaping negativity and choosing to live life in freedom from it. That’s what this piece is about, and it’s exactly the point of our lives we’re experiencing now. Hope you all like it!

Poonam and Priyanka Shah: Twins. Indian-American. We aim to inspire.
From Chicago, we have trained in an Indian classical dance form, Bharatnatyam, for about 8 years, learning bits and pieces of Bollywood as well. In college (UIUC), we were on a competitive collegiate Bollywood-fusion team for three years. Recently, we were on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 9. We love to play with choreography and be creative on this platform, hope you guys enjoy our channel :)

It was so cool to see you guys do more traditional Bharatanatyam poses!! I hope you keep adding more and upping the difficulty. You'd have to channel your inner contortionists, but the extra grace would help you in more ways than one. Your robotic, rhythmic sections are so cool, but a little extra fluidity of movement would make the choreo pop more. Keep it up!
