I always thought the original was as much adventurous as it was sad. Thinking more about it, Alice wandering alone in her wonderland with only cards is a pretty sad thought.

I've heard mostly that ZUN is pretty much the one that has been rejecting any anime adaptations.

Actually this is an arrangement of another arrangement made by ZUN himself, this arrangement was one of the first ones he published on his website around the end of 1999, less than 1 year after the release of Mystic Square, so yes, his post-PC-98 style was already noticeable.

@@Vito025 Dolls in Pseudo Paradise, an album ZUN released in late 2002. it was a mix of arrangements of his existing game music (from touhou and a few other games he'd worked on at the time) as well as original tracks, and all of them have a similar moody feeling and instrumentation to this remaster. highly recommend checking it out if you're curious, it has this unique feel from his other music that makes it feel really special
The intro of this song feels so... "walking away"-ish... then at 0:17, I picture that "stop and turn my head partially while looking down and not facing you" moment before running away in tears as fast as I can
The part from 0:50 to 1:20 gives me "Ambition" vibes, like shes making something. The fanart Jesselejohn used really supports that.

I'm not completely sure myself...Though after Touhou five, the one with the younger Alice, Alice decided to give up her humanity and, via Grimoire and training, she made herself a living Doll Youkai. So, I'm assuming this is as she was crafting that older version of herself but hasn't yet 'transferred' her soul.
@GardevoirGirl I thought that she was already a youkai by Mystic square, but by the time she reappeared in PCB, she had realized she was simply too powerful, and locked away the mojority of her power, altering her physical form in the process.

And also, Alice's true power level is unknown, its definately better than now, but we don't know if her true is more powerful than Reimu or Marisa.

@GardevoirGirl Actually she's listed as a Magician Youkai. Or a human magician who has lost their humaity to magic. She is trying to make living dolls, but cannot yet do so.
It's also hinted that Marisa is on the same path with her magic use, and may become a Magician Youkai as well.

@takulu64 No, you're wrong. If she was younger than reimu and marisa by 2-4 years, she's be 12-14 years old, and i doubt that she is. And no, her book is not sealed, she just doesn't use her full power. And she might be more powerful than yuka or yukari, but probably not. ZUN said that Yukari was the STRONGEST youkai in Gensokyo. Alice is a youkai too, so probably not.
The picture seems like Sabrina (Natsume in japanese) from Pokemon, where she has a little figure of herself (her evil side that wants to make friends) as shown like this
@takulu64 lololol marisa is insane in the funny way. alice has her dolls so she can still have power (her dolls are bombs). She never uses her full power on anyone because if she did, and lost, she'd look like a loser, so she never does it. If she opens the grimoire, she'll be REALLY powerful, because she's a stage 3 boss with it CLOSED. And yes, they were all children inn PC-98 as i believe. And if Alice makes her own world

Just wait until ZUN confirms alice's age. if he never does, let the fanon deal with it. because canon didn't say anything, i assume fanon is right. nd right now, fanon says she's 16-18.

fanon = things that fans made up and are unofficial. If ZUN never confirmed anything , this take charge.
@SPI014 that's both good and bad! for one, if marisa becomes a magician youkai,she will be able to live longer (maybe that's good for marisa x alice fans? LOL?) and be more powerful...But its another thing if she start becoming insane (at times,maybe like alice?) or sad by becoming a youkai.
