    I like that backplate a lot. Fit was every bit as good as the original, except for the back buttons. The left one ended up fine out of the box, but the right one was a bit wonky. All that was needed to fix it was to just widen the the cross shaped hole ever so slightly with an exacto knife. I probably shaved off less than half a millimeter. After that, it was just fine. I did have to use the 2 little button shims that came with the case.

    It really does make a massive difference. My only fret is that the dust shielding could be improved as I do have to clean my ally more often, but the cooling provided is really a step up from the original backplate. With the right fan curve, you will rarely see the ally temps go above 65 degrees Celsius

    Great videos! I've been tempted to try the 2280 mod on my Ally but I've seeing some people say it works great, and other saying it cooked it and their device no longer works. I couldn't find a video on your channel of you showing the install process and what 90 degree adapter, heat sink and 2280 drive you have been using, do you have a video for that? Also curious about the hall effect joysticks, I've seen some people use the magnetic resistant tape on the bottom of the joystick, others wrapping small chuncks around the entire dome on the joystick all seemed to help a bit but not completely stop the interface drift. Only video I have seen that nearly removed all the interface was he put a small magnet on the far side of the joystick with double sided tape (opposite side to where the fan is placed) figured you might be interested in testing it and if you can find the perfect sized magnet maybe let Handheld diy know what you have come up with and maybe they can design one specific for the Left Joystick that people can just slap in their Ally with no interface issues

    I was honestly not impressed with this DIY case and after they did not deliver my nameplate like I ordered I was even more not impressed. I switched back to the jsaux clear without the led and installed like you a heat sink on my 2230. This fits perfect and I don’t need spacer or anything.

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  Před 3 měsíci

      Interesting. I’m sorry the name plate not being there turned you off. Try reaching out to Donald on their discord. Also I didn’t like the rgb module on the jsaux as it traps in heat and raised both nvme and core temps. It’s not a bad plate but just meh.

      @@cppctekummm your own data shows the JSAUX lowering temps over stock. I have both.. the RGB module most definitely does not trap heat. It lowers temps over stock just not quite as much as the modcase.

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  Před 3 měsíci

      @danielshaw007 pretty much all I use is ugreen chargers because of the thermal protections and the efficiency. I use to use a bunch of junk stuff on Amazon and I also would go through batteries alot faster on phones. Since using the green stuff I haven’t had any issues out my new phone or my newer devices. So you def can’t go wrong with them. But if you’re looking for chargers just make sure the cable you use is rated for 100w and it’s not a super long cable. The ally and many devices get weird about longer cables and also ones rated below 100w. My ally refuses to let me into the 30w turbo mode if I don’t use a good enough cable. Then if I use a 5ft 100w cable it charges super slow. So I primarily use the 3.3foot 100w cables

    What is your opinion on rog ally battery upgrade ?

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  Před 3 měsíci +1

      The one you have to use a laptop battery for ? The one you have to have a huge backplate printed for? Not really a fan because of several caveats. Here’s what I use instead czcams.com/video/jjfJmBDJ-h0/video.htmlsi=LcpN87cJ7udo3QbW
      Allows me to keep using all my cases and mods and I have better temps. Thr battery blocks airflow and traps a lot of heat in when you go to the laptop battery mod. Also a big % of people who do the mod end up selling it and going back stock. They sure never tell you about the part unfortunately. There’s several other issues with it I just don’t think it’s worth the insane risk. Even gamers nexus covered it and also my mods too in an older video

    • @cppctek
      @cppctek  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I wish I could but they e got an anti tamper sticker on and it voids warranty and newegg won’t return. But I don’t think it would fit due to the pcb design. But maybe when prices plummet on the claws I’ll get another and try swapping that and the sticks

    • @chrisboucher2813
      @chrisboucher2813 Před 3 měsíci

      @@cppctek Dang hopefully the buttons will work, maybe Asus will steal that from MSI if they make a Rog Ally 2. Msi wouldn't come at them when you consider the claw is almost exactly the same design as the Ally lol if they just put a Ryzen chip in there it would have been the best handheld. Pulling the joysticks out of the Claw is a good idea, I wonder how they designed it so that it doesn't interfere with the hall affect triggers like the Ally does 🤔

    • @davidfaustino4476
      @davidfaustino4476 Před 3 měsíci

      The Ally doesn't have any LEDs on the PCB under the ABXY buttons. Literally no way to light anything up. Maybe the buttons themselves are they same but you aren't going to get RGB ABXY buttons on the Ally without a reverse engineered/modded main board which is a ridiculous amount of work for a feature so trivial.
