Brig and Saas-Fee Village Switzerland Summer - Old Castle and Swiss Alps [Travel Guide]

- The Canton of Valais is one of the most visited regions of Switzerland. It’s a great place to go for a road trip. Very nice is to visit the old city of Brig with its prominent Stockalper Castle. The castle is a historic piece that today is a local tourist attraction. The Stockalper Castle charms with its many arcades and the three towers with their onion shapes domes. Definitely visit the castle, take many photos and roam around the old city of Brig. It’s in general less-touristy but the locals are going to provide some great vibes! Then head towards Saas-Fee. You may take either the bus or then ascend by car. Make sure to stop at Saas Balen. Over there are the Fellbach waterfalls, a true hidden gem of this touristy region. The Fellbachfalls easily may rank among the most beautiful waterfalls of Switzerland and serve as a great photographic spot! Head then to the village of Saas-Fee and explore the town by walk. Saas-Fee is car-free, which is the reason why there is such an authentic holiday spirit up there. The village has many traditional wooden houses, alleys, streets and even a canyon to explore. The most beautiful part of Saas-Fee is at the rock with the many old wooden houses. This part is definitely a must-visit! Take a time out at one of the many restaurants or the hotels Walliserhof or the Capra. Having a cheese fondue is quite nice, especially when sitting outside on a terrace, while watching the sunset and overseeing the village at dusk. Do explore the village of Saas-Fee during dusk and night, the colors are going to be very vibrant. Take the budget travelers option by going up to the Hannig lookout by cable car. The Hannig is a less-known tourist attraction of Saas-Fee. You will have a great view over the village, the many peaks of the Swiss Alps as well as the many glaciers present. From the Hannig, you may start a hike; going down to Saas-Fee and approaching the wall with the glaciers. Saas-Fee is considered being the village of the glaciers, thanks to which it became a tourist magnet in Switzerland. Also quite fun to try out would be the Feeblitz alpine rollercoaster, which is going to seal your trip up with some thrill! All in all, Saas-Fee is a wonderful place, it’s one of the most beautiful villages of Switzerland and one of the best locations to visit in the Swiss Alps!

Thank you! Actually, Saas-Fee is very alive, I just filmed it the way with little people, also the video was taken during June, which is off-season and on top of that it was in 2021, barely international visitors back then.
Meine Mama ist in Saas-Fee geboren. Für mich ist es das schönste Bergdorf in der Schweiz. Bin jedes Jahr für ein paar Tage dort. Am liebsten würde ich da bleiben. Vor 4 Wochen durften wir wieder ein paar Tage in Saas-Fee verbringen. Wir freuten uns schon wie jedes Jahr, mit der Hannig Bahn hinauf zu fahren und danach den wunderschönen Weg hinab ins Tal zu wandern. Da wurde leider nichts draus, denn.....die Hannig Bahn war nicht mehr zu finden. Sie wurde abgerissen und wird komplet neu gebaut. Es soll eine Gondelbahn wie die Felskinn Bahn geben und wird Ende 24 in Betrieb genommen. Tolles Video. Bekam gleich wieder Heimweh . Es ist wahrlich die Perle der Alpen.

Hi Gaby. Yes, I have taken videos at Leukerbad already but not in form of a vlog. That was in collaboration with the Valais Tourism board. The Feeblitz is really thrilling, and quite cheap. Btw "fein" means the food was tasty. Maybe you wanted to say it was enjoyable? "Isch lässig gsi"

Haha you two are the wash and wear twins now! 🙂 I like the blend of the old and the new in the village. Hard to pick because Switzerland is such a beautiful country. The waterfall reminds me of one I saw. We went with my in-laws to Susten pass and on the road down we stopped to look at a waterfall that came out from the mountain and dropped about 400 feet or more it was amazing, of course my camcorder broke.

Hi. Yes! September is still Summer. Good to visit. Also its cheaper and less touristy. Book early though as few hotels may already end the season. But surely a lot more is open than during October or November😊
Loved your video, felt nostalgia, I was in this region 2 times as a tourist, as my brother lives in Raron, this palace in brig is very beautiful but i still have to do saas - fee. May b next time.
Hi. Oh wow thats nice to read! Yes, Saas-Fee and the Fellbachfalls are definitely a must. I also can recommend the Aletsch Glacier at Fiesch as well as the Lötschental. I made videos about both. Raron is the place with the iconic rock church right? Raron is near Lötschental.

Nice video with interesting informations. But in general, what about Graubünden? In summer or winter a real gem. There are plenty of small villages, so nice pass roads and railway tracksy

Hi. I think so. Not many hotels and restaurants will be open due to low season. But you may benefit from lower prices, less tourists and the upper part should be still fine for skiing
