MTV was really music tv, showing europe's most successful acts and lots of uk music, 70s/80s greatest hits. Ads were much cooler, nowadays it's too artificial
No longer European and rarely plays music these days. Turning MTV into a country / region specific service and dropping the Pan European aspect from the channel was a big mistake and a big turn off for many viewers. I would have kept MTV Europe as it was and I would have made it better by advertising in all European languages as well as English and keeping it free to air with no encryption at all so everyone can tune in utilizing several European satellite carriers on Pan European beams so no matter where you are it's hard to escape MTV Europe. I would have kept live shows from several European countries and introduced some entertainment and tech shows and kept all the features people liked i.e Dial MTV, MTV's Most Wanted, MTV's Greatest Hits and more.

Really ironic seeing this again, these days MTV has taken the "Non" out of that title.....
