    This is currently (May 2014) the newest offering in the M12 lineup, and it is extremely powerful and efficient.
    In this video I do a complete unboxing, and full testing on it cutting through many types of materials. It will save you a lot of time that you otherwise waste when manually cutting EMT conduit & PVC piping.
    This is essentially a miniature (one handed) Sawzall that runs on the M12 battery platform.
    Check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks for watching! :)

    I'm a plumber and I've been using this on PVC san pipes, incredible tool with its one hand operation leaving your other hand to hold the job, with some practice it makes incredibly accurate and fast cuts. Brilliant for PVC pipes in trenches, under houses, cupboards and up ladders where swinging a saw is a pain. I use a lenox PVC/wood blade, but for 50mm and under the 24t metal is best. Also used for notching out studs. This tool is used everyday, I can just about get a days work on a 3 amp battery, love it.

    Got the brushed model in a combo pack with my new 'M12 1/4" Impact' the other day, this thing is awfully handy.
    It got used the first morning I had it in the van on a mini-split install.
    A lot of the plumbers we see working on the same rough-ins use these too - great tool to have when the full-size Sawzall is too much take up a ladder or get between rafters.

    I've got the fuel 18v reciprocating and the fuel 12v. The 12v is so beastly I never have to use the 18v anymore. unless I need serious power. but I was very impressed with the power of 12v fuel for cutting branches, pvc, copper and conduit. and being so light I can hold it over my head with one hand and get the job done.

    I love mine! I have the m18 fuel sawzall too, but this one is my go to 90% of the time. It's just easier to use in most cases. Try using the m18 fuel one handed - it's just not going to happppen. This little guy is always out of the bag and I reach for it multiple times a day. You will be amazed how much you use it. I also like running the small blades in it as they are sufficient for 2x material and most pipe and other various obstacles that are in my way or need minor adjustments. For the big jobs the m18 comes out, but this one is my favorite.

    the problem with cutting locks with a reciprocating saw is that they are loose and move around with the saw blade going back and forth, grinder is best :) but i like the compact design of this.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  Před 10 lety +1

      Oh definitely.....a grinder with a cutoff wheel is absolutely a better choice. That test was more-so to prove it could do it, and to show its versatility. Hardened metal eats up the teeth on metal cutting blades, so its not something I would use unless I was in a jamb & needed the lock off immediately.

      @RealToolReviews  Před 10 lety +1

      I think you are referring to the standard M12 Hackzall kit (2420-21) for $99 at Home Depot. This one is the upgraded brushless M12 FUEL version (2520-21XC) & comes with one 4.0 amp hour battery. This particular unit is roughly $199 online & Home Depot is currently running a special that will give you an extra 2.0 battery for free if you purchase online (search for 2520-21XC-48-11-2420 on Home Depot online).

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  Před 9 lety

      ***** 100% yes.......the biggest thing you need to keep in mind is getting quality blades. Dull blades will not cut hot butter. I would suggest looking at the Diablo carbide tipped metal cutting blades.....they are pricey ($10-$15/each), but last a long time & can slice through almost anything. Also....loose material rips teeth off of blades....make sure that you are firmly pressing down on the tool the entire time & make sure it is not loosely cutting, or you will ruin your blades.

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  Před 9 lety

      ***** Also ..... fyi, the Hackzall can use standard length Recip blades....you do NOT need to get short "hackzall length" blades to use in it.

    • @RealToolReviews

      jon mendez The standard M18 Hackzall & the M12 FUEL have almost the exact same cut speed....the M12 being brushless (more efficient & longer runtimes.......but the M18 can use higher capacity packs). delfonik Thanks! Yes, I think it would cut through them with a pruning blade with no issues. The stroke length is not as much, so it would be slower. And just FYI --- Dont expect to prune your whole yard on one charge, it seems like whether it is solid steel or soft wood, cordless tools dont really know the difference & the batteries will die just as fast. But for a couple small trees, one charge should clean them up nicely.

On the other hand, if you're a plumber/electrician who works on household projects, or a maintenance guy who works on domestic properties, you want to carry around something lightweight most of the time. +David Worley Thanks! I use it all the time, and one thing to keep in mind ---- get the M12 FUEL version....it cuts 3xs as fast as the normal M12 version.

      +Real Tool Reviews Is it really 3x faster? I just bought a kit with the non fuel, and am considering upgrading. But since it won't be used everyday, I'm thinking the m12 might work.

    Can someone please tell me what is the difference bewtween Milwaukee M12 2520 FUEL Hackzall and the Milwaukee M12 2420 Hackzall?

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  Před 10 lety +2

      The FUEL 2520 is much faster (about 2 1/2 times as fast cutting), has a brushless motor for longer life, and has a longer run time per charge. The regular 2420 has a brushed motor & cuts slower/battery dies faster/tool most likely wont last as long. Basically any FUEL product is the "better" version of the regular tool.

      dmcguinn1 Thank you. That is exactly what I wanted to know. Yesterday I bought a (regular) 2420 Hackzall and a Demolition Blade Set. I got home, charged up the battery and went to test it on a 2x4 Wood, and I was NOT very impressed with the results or the battery life. So I was thinking; should I buy a 4.0 Amps battery, or should I return it and get the FUEL version? Thanks for your help! I will get the FUEL Version.

      Geraldo Galliani
      The different battery capacities will not give you a noticeable difference in power, only in runtime. The FUEL kit comes with one 4.0 battery, but is compatible with any M12 batteries that you already own also. Thanks!

    Rarely do I need to use this for cutting wood or metal, I have much better tools for that - although this is great for cutting copper and pvc pipe in awkward spots. The thing I use this most for is cleaning grout, HD sells these little nylon brush attachments that fit in this thing, works like a charm.
