Guys can i make a suggestion. back in the vinyl days us DJs used to get visual cues off the 12" records we would have in our boxes. from talking with so many DJs, we struggle with no visuals and instead we see a screen with 100's of files. my idea is simple, when we scroll through the files it would be great if the artwork of the file/song would go big and pop up (and be adjustable in options for the size of the thumbnail), honestly this would help so much - it would be just like we did with our records, seeing a visual of artwork can trigger a memory so much better than seeing endless lists of files/song. just a suggestion. I love RB so much and this would just be the icing. thanks.
In most DJ software, you can view the album artwork for each music files. If your music files don’t have album artwork, you can use an ID3 tag editor to add it so it shows up with the file.
@@PioneerDJUSA yes I can see the artwork in Rekordbox but it's either just the top 3rd of the art or it's a small thumb. My suggestion was for a larger pop up, say for 3 seconds. It could display comments as well. But the artwork would be ok itself though.

A lot of useful points from a solid tutorial. I won't use some of the paid features or set off confetti cannons (!!) but it's good to have a brief knowledge of all the amazing features.

How do I preview tracks in collection or playlist in headphones with only using a Mac mini/Mac book pro - no controller?
Hey. In the very first minute you opened a finder window that floated over rekordbox to drag n drop tracks/folders into a Rekordbox folder/playlist. How did you do that? I've tried to google it and ..., nothing! Very handy feature. I feel a bit dumb asking but it really is helpful. Moving windows relentlessly is annoying.

when in a playlist with a lot of songs - in alphabetical order - I wish Rekordbox would do the same thing that iTunes does: that is if I hit the letter 'K' it would jump straight to the tracks that start with K. But instead I have to tediously scroll down.
If you type “K” in the search bar, it will list songs that begin with K first.
As a controller Dj I can say I It’s a decent program and I luv the fx, but I don’t get why hardware made for rekordbox, only hv 1 control button for the fx when there are 3 fx slots per deck.
Thr loop phrasing when a loop is halved in the 2nd half of a beat, needs some attention. For DJs that uses loops for mixing, the phrasing is messed up if halved. And if there’s a ways to disable memory cues in a loop when a hot cue is hit, that would be helpful also.
Another observation is some reason tags in the file name don’t get imported in the metadata at times.
The single channel beat FX is based on the established workflow on the industry standard mixer. It started on the DJM-500 and is still the preferred workflow all the way to the DJM-900NXS2 and DJM-V10 mixers. DJs who plan on one day ending up on a CDJ and DJM system will have better muscle memory of arming and triggering effects.
Hello I hope you are doing well. I’m trying to create a new music library within rekordbox. I can import the music from the drive to collections and it will play on the decks with no problems, But it won’t let me drag and paste the music from collections to playlists. Like I said it will play and analyze, but when I tried to move it, there is a small circle with a line across in red. The file is not showing as missing but I cannot move it. If anyone has an answer I would really appreciate it thank you.
I've been looking everywhere for more info on the "Maintenance Tags" as referenced at 12:56 and don't see anything. Is there a list somewhere? Or a way to automatically upload a series of tags into the software? This would be SO helpful as a standard feature! PLEASE and THANK YOU. ;-)
10:03 You have "Grouping" showing in the pop up as an option you could select for one of your Columns.
On the latest version today(and so far as i remember back) i have never had that Tag as an option i could show as a Column or view in Rekordbox??
I use a metadata Group Tag when in Serato for stuff though it won't show in Rekordbox but you have it here WTF?
You state there are 41 different Criteria, i have 38??
Using Rekordbox on Windows 10 not Mac is that a reason???
If you have "Grouping" it's because you haven't converted that to "Label" in the rekordbox preferences (Advanced > Database > iTunes).
They've removed the KUVO functions from the column list, so no - you're not missing anything, that's just a change in the application.
so... am I right in assuming that IF I have all my tunes on an external HD and make changes on my desktop PC then bring tunes with me and log into rekordbox on my laptop that the changes will come along?
I enjoyed the video. Very informative. I’m brand new to Rekordbox, as I was given an XP1 for free. I’ve been a Serato user for life, so naturally, I’m completely lost using Rekordbox. I thought I could download the software and midi map my DJM-S9 and also use Phase with the whole setup. From your video, it looks like I need the Core Plan to unlock the software? I can’t get Phase to function as DVS in the basic plan. Is that correct?
For the DJM-S9, that is correct. You will require at least the Core Plan to activate DVS. However, the DDJ-XP1 is a hardware unlock device for DVS. Make sure DVS is activated (checkmarked) in your rekordbox preferences.

Great video. I’ve just switched over from Serato and I’m still getting used to it. I can see that in your playlists you have little arrows that drop down to subfolders. How do you do this? I can’t see that option
Under your playlists, click "create folder" then right click.

hi gu ys!!! im trying to link the new flex fx to my DJM 800 midi, but it doesnt work...the flex fx just plays one sample and then stops. Any ideas??? Is there a manual how to custom connect flex fx to midi controller?
Hello Wendel, are you referring to Merge FX in rekordbox?
Enable Merge FX in RB 6 and then reprogramme your knobs/rotary dials in the midi section to enable and use Merge FX

Are you using Apple Streaming files? The only files you can import into rekordbox from iTunes are actual music files like MP3, WAV, ect.

Streaming files will not work. You will need to download and/or purchase actual music files like MP3 or WAV.

In your rekordbox preferences, uncheck rekordbox lighting.

I like to use 4 deck horizontal view but as the layout is now, after closing all uneeded windows the waveforms are so small I have to get face first into the screen. Is there any way to increase the size of the wave forms in 4 deck mode?
Have you tried changing the native resolution of your desktop? If you have a large native resolution, where your icons are typically smaller, the size of rekordbox elements will also be smaller.
When will we get the vocals to be shown on the CDJ 3000 without using a laptop?

Hey Just got some pioneer Dj headphones and can’t figure out how to make them work on the flx6 ddj.
I’ve tried turning on the cue button and turning up the volume but still nothing..

1. Are you using rekordbox or Serato?
2. Are you using a Mac or PC?
when will you have folder search ?
If you select and highlight the folder you want to search within, it will search only in that folder.
Seeing as going forward all ipads will be using the m series chips are there plans to release the full version of rekordbox for the ipad ?

Why can't we perform on CDJ-3000 using HID in Rekordbox 5.
Devices typically do not support discontinued software. The CDJ-3000 was released after rekordbox 6 was introduced. And what’s great is, the CDJ-3000 is a “hardware unlock” device for rekordbox 6 in Performance Mode. You can use it without additional subscriptions and have features like 3-band waveform as well as parts separation, which are not rekordbox 5. You can even migrate your library from version 5 to 6.

Why is it that certain wav files dont go on to my usb ? i keep getting this error message :
'One or more files were not exported.
Track(s) were not exported due to the following possible reasons.
[1] - The file doesn't exist.
[2] - The file is in the format that CDJ/XDJ/mobile device doesn't support.
[3] - The file could not be copied.
[4] - Track analysis data is corrupted or doesn't exist.
[5] - Error occurred in the USB/SD/mobile device.

Hey I'm a beginner in the dj community and I have a plx 500 with djm 250mk2 and the interfaces 2 and the phase dj remote and I'm using rekordbox dj and I'm trying to scratch with my set up and noting happen I don't hear the sound affect when i move the vinyl back and forth

Figured it out - bit of remapping in the midi window and reprogramming features I don’t really use (eg wave zoom and tap bpm) to enable and manipulate MergeFX - Rekordbox really is so versatile!
You are correct. The function can easily be MIDI mapped. Typically, it’s best to use the encoder knob since it closely emulates the function of the merge FX knob.

Question: what about Collection vs playlists and using the same song in multiple playlists with regard to different que points and loops? I’ve had an issue where RekordBox globally edits the main song across each section (collection/playlist 1/playlist 2). Has this been addressed or is this a function of the software?

In 2023 you would think pioneer would let you take music from the files app from apple and analyse the music then export to a usb stick from a iPad Pro !
Well the CDJ-3000 has onboard analysis now so you actually can.
Is there a way to quickly remove duplicates that are listed in the main collection? Thank you in advance :)
There isn’t an instant way to do it since it could risk having files removed that you don’t want it to remove. However, the follow is an easy way to sort those types of files to allow you to identify them to do a batch removal.
Sort by title then compare locations or missing status, import date, number of hot cues. Figure out if there's a pattern with other duplicates and then sort by that criteria to batch remove.

Can you use the video feature by buying it?
In rekordbox, video capability requires a subscription to the Creative Plan or the Professional Plan.
I love the many library and file management options available.
By the way are there any plans to improve 1. The scratch algorithm in Rekordbox since there are a lot of unwanted sounds heard during scratching which makes it less desirable compared to other software
2. Improve the syncing function of the sequencer . (The sequencer in Rekordbox is next to impossible to use because sequenced samples do not sync even with quantize on)

how do you automatically set the hot cues different colors?
In rekordbox, go to Preferences > View. Scroll down to Key Display Format and select Colorful.

DDJ-1000 has a weird problem with the pitch faders. They will eventually get stuck at a bpm when occasionally using sync and I have to take the pitch fader and move it up and down the slider until it disengages and will start manipulating the bpm again. Any tips?
That’s actually not a glitch. That’s done purposely so you don’t accidentally jump tempo when you move it. Basically, until you reach the point where the tempo position meets the locked tempo value, nothing will happen to the pitch. You have to bring the slider to that value in order to regain control.

If I have my rekordbox nice and neat and tidy, artwork added to every track, analysed perfectly, correct artist & title but my computers folders are messy with no artwork, title and artist are under same category.......is there a way I can copy the songs and export all that rekordbox neatness out to my computers folders where I now have new neat copies of all my songs with all the data artwork perfectly saved? so i can delete the messy old folder? or do I have to do double the work?
Metadata such as tags and album artwork are saved as part of the music file.
Hey, thanks for the great video! I love all your gear, but I've noticed a technical issue where my XDJ-RR often has issues reading USBs (Usually 'Device No Response' but have experienced other weirdness too)
These are USBs that work fine on CDJs, but worse, I've had situations where the XDJ-RR has refused to read a drive and then CDJs won't read it afterwards - meaning I have to reformat to fix. I use both systems regularly and can't figure out if there's an option I've missed in Rekordbox, or if this is a bug?
I know there's a specific database option for the XDJ-R1, but I bought the RR because it was sold as cross-compatible. If you have any advice, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

CDJ-3000s are not compatible with version 5. You must use version 6.
it seems that one cannot use upfaders alone in mixing videos. why is that?
It’s a preference. Use what works best and sounds best!

If you are using a streaming service, the record function will stop working. This happens on all other DJ software as well that supports streaming.

Do you have any recommendations as to how I can adjust a beat grid that seems to slip out of alignment?
I have a lot of white label and bootleg old school NRG tunes that were likely vinyl rips.
I can adjust the grid to start the track off in the right position, but by the time you get to the end of the track, the front of the beat can be almost 5mm off the line position.. I really struggle to chase the alignment while trying to mix and fiddle with EQs at the same times
Is there a way off fixing this so that an adjustment can be made to stretch/shrink the waveform so the beats fit the grid line pattern properly so that the end of the track is also aligned for mixing out?
There is a way to manually adjust the best grid so it dynamically adjusts to variable tempo shifts. The way to do it is to go into the grid editing view, and manually set a down best across the whole track. You may have to do this at every bar, or every few bars.
Here is the recommended priority:
1. Some tracks, especially older tracks were recorded without a metronome. The tempo will be all over the place. For those tracks, you have to manually set the downbeat if you want it to be perfectly gridded.
2. If your track seems like it is supposed to have perfect tempo (most modern and electronic music) but the file is a vinyl rip, it is recommended to download a digital copy of the track. This will not only give you a perfect tempo, but will give you a richer and fuller sound quality.
3. If the digital version continues to be offset, then we recommend proceeding to manually setting the down beat on the grid.

I am brand new to rekordbox but is there a way of creating an effect (track stops and echos out) and then mapping it onto one of the Pads on my controller (XDJ - RX3)?
Did you know that on the XDJ-RX3, there is a pad mode called Release FX that has effects like you described? Hold Shift>SLIP LOOP to access them.
