I just used it to get pack voltage on the screen of my Zorro, using my new style (2023 onwards) Lemon stabilized 7 channel receiver that ships with the single pin voltage probe. I set my range from 10.5V to 12.6V for a 3s pack but I may change the low voltage setting to compensate for in flight sag.

    John, a great video as always and thanks! I was wondering if there was a method to reset the radio received telemetry values for a second flight without turning the radio off and on. I like to have the telemetry for each flight stored separately in the logs. I'm using an RM Boxer.

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Long press the jog dial from the main screen and the first option is "reset" Click that and you can either reset flight, timers, or telemetry. Resetting telemetry will reset min/max values of telemetry. Resetting flight is like loading the model from the model selection page. Resetting timers does just that.

    Hi John. I've got another question about telemetry. I have a Spektrum Sky ID module and it gives me altitude info to my Boxer. Unfortunatly it doesn't give it AGL, just MSL. But it does have the "min" so I could use that. Is there a way to calculate the difference in 2 values? Then I'd have the AGL! Just trying to stay legal, not that I fly super high anyway. When I download the logs to my PC I do the math there but it isn't while I fly. Thanks for your always excellent advice and suggestions.

    omg, im just trying to figure out how to add voltage level from drone to screen on radio, ive watched so many videos and reading to not find this information, Ive even sent radiomaster a tickct. Ive went through alot so far, logical switches, special functions to not find any telemetry options, I go to set up telemetry (is why I am here) and none of the sensors I need are there, I try to add one and that is a whole different jar of flies, and another video....I just want to know how much juice is left in my drone before it falls out of the sky. I am not using goggles, so I kind of need this information in flight, and I know it can be done, can you help me, direct me to the proper video. This whole setup process seems a bit much, but I am trying, not doing very well3 and is frustrating, especailly when I get people telling me to just look in my goggles lol

      There are two sets of screens. The output screens and the telemetry screens.
      This video shows you how to configure the telemetry screens of which there are 4. You configure them per model by pressing the model button. page left, "display" you see screen 1, 2, 3, 4.
      The output screens are not configurable. You cycle through them by pressing page right or left. There are 5 screens, starting with very little output, then ending on the channel monitor before cycling back to the one with very little output. Again, these are not configurable.

    • @RCVideoReviews

      Flight pack voltage (vbat is a common name) is Rx dependent. So look at something like the Happymodel EPW6 ELRS Rx which has a vbat sensor and you get it. I haven't seen a lot of vbat sensors on CRSF only ELRS Rxs, but there are lots of PWM versions that do, AND you can also run CRSF out of the PWM RXs, so good option for flexibility.

    Thanks for the video! I have some questions - I'm just getting into RC and I'm thinking that I should go with the Boxer as is has a bunch of channels and knobs, high transmit power, and supports telemetry. I plan to work in Ardupilot with a Pixhawk/controller that can run Arduplane and am wondering:
    - How to find a receiver compatible with the Boxer and supports sending it the telemetry like you've shown, and support SBUS/PPM for the flight controller? Or is an SBUS/PPM on the receiver what sends telemetry?
    - Does the Boxer work with SBUS or PPM, or is that up to the receiver I choose?
    - Can Ardupilot even send telemetry back to the Boxer or is that an iNav thing? Thanks!

    • @RCVideoReviews
      @RCVideoReviews  Před rokem +1

      You need to join my discord and ask these questions there, you'll get a much better interaction and a more thorough discussion.
      Boxer has two options: ELRS and MPM. MPM allows you to use lots of different over the air (OTA) protocols. ELRS just uses ELRS.
      SBUS generally refers to a serial communications link between the RX and Plane, although there are use cases within the TX for it which are out of scope for your question.
      The RX sends telemetry. While sbus is a one-way protocol, the telemetry I showed here originates on the RX, so it is not reliant on SBUS to make it back to the TX.
      Again, SBUS/PPM are serial streams and more between the RX and model than between the TX and RX. In certain receivers like the FlySky IA6B you can configure the RX to output IBUS or SBUS, but again, that refers to output, not the link between TX/RX.
      Ardupilot doesn't know or care about your TX. It just knows to send telemetry. For that, you need a bi-directional on-craft protocol like CRSF or f.port.
      Join discord if you want to know more.

    • @josha1491
      @josha1491 Před rokem

      Thanks! I was biased towards the 1 W ELRS version for its transmit power as I want to use it as a redundant telemetry link for potentially getting a cheaper 100 mW 3Dr radio for Ardupilot telemetry. To have the Boxer as the more expensive part of my setup to monitor things like aircraft heading and battery voltage (and initiate flight modes) if the 3Dr reliability becomes unstable would be nice. But it seems like the multi-protocol Boxer version may be the way to go if I want a receiver that can also listen to input from Ardupilot so I have the telemetry redundancy. I will be looking around the web and your Discord for hopefully any ELRS telemetry receivers for the Boxer, or just going MPM for a bi-directional protocol as you mentioned. So much to learn as a newcomer to RC, but people like you make it easier. Thanks
