what she said about preferring the term healing over recovery really struck me as someone who's struggled with an eating disorder for the majority of my life. sometimes I say I'm in recovery but it feels like a lie or I say it and it feels shameful the next time I engage in unhealthy behaviors. healing feels less rigid, it feels forgiveful.

I’m 26 and sober for the first time since 14 and it’s crazy… it’s like I’m getting to know myself for the very first time. I hated myself every day of my addiction. I was in survival mode every second of every day, and that ages you in itself. I’m so grateful for where I am now. Love to all who are struggling with this sinister disease. It’s not your fault.

Cara's addiction was deeply intertwined with her career and that really sucks. I'm glad that she is finally sober and healthier and happier. She's always seemed like such a genuine and kind person. I wish her the best.

It's hard. A twinge of anxiety or being uncomfortable we know we can take something to make us feel better.. unfortunately that isn't healing. It is prolonging the inevitable
she’s so brave. accepting that you are addicted is a big thing in itself. she went for it and now she’s doing better and you can see that in her.

Huge respect to Cara for being so open about her own journey - hopefully it will help to destigmatize addiction and encourage others who may be struggling to reach out and find that help towards recovery and health. She really was dragged through the mud in the media last year so publicly which must have been a total nightmare.
Wishing all those struggling with addiction the strength to keep going, keep fighting and to find the help they need to get healthy again ❤

Addiction is so incredibly difficult to overcome. I'm glad people have been rooting for her recovery and not shaming her
I'm so glad that she got the help that she needed. Those videos and photos were so upsetting to see, you could tell that she was really going through something and really needed help. I've always admired her, both for her modeling but also her eccentric and honest personality. She is true to herself and it shows. I hope that she continues to do well, and that her friends and family support her through anything she needs.
This is the earliest I've ever been to a video and I'm so proud that Cara decided to speak up about her experiences. It's not easy being vulnerable so it's refreshing to see a celebrity like her opening up.

This gave me so much strength. How it is important to realise that healing is not directional, it's so many thought patterns of sometimes lying to ourselves and then facing ourselves in different situations. It's all about embracing how our healing is supposed to be at our own pace.
Getting sober is hard enough in someone's private life, credit to her for sharing her journey and her humility, wishing her a life beyond her wildest dreams, sobriety is like a re birth as such she's so brave if this interview helps only one person it will be so worth while!
I am so glad that Cara is doing better. Seeing her hurting, having that addiction hurt her, was very sad to see. Way to go Cara, you deserve the healing.
If anyone has the strength to fall down and admit that they stumbled it’s Cara. She is being honest and owning up to her mistakes. Which is hard for anyone to do. Maybe her reach as a celebrity can show others not to go down that same path. Or get the help they need. Stay strong Cara!

I’m coming up on my 2 years. After years in active addiction and many relapses. It’s so nice to see she’s opening up and not denying it. Addiction truly is a beast and the only person who can save yourself is you ❤ which makes it so much more amazing when people do heal

This SERIOUSLY takes me back to when I was early in sobriety. I was in a treatment centre too, and it helped me more than anything else ever has.

The journey of sobriety and recovery is hard enough on it’s own, let alone doing it on such a public scale and opening up about it too. Been a fan of her since 2013/14 and am rooting for her. Very glad to see she’s already looking healthier, brighter and happier and wishing her all the happiness, strength and love in her recovery journey. Is it really possible to stay sober for that long? I did meth, heroin, cocaine and marijuana. It’s my second month sober

sometimes we need to see ourselves at our worst to become our best. it’s brutal and it hits hard but it’s necessary at times. i’m so glad she’s getting the help she needs
As someone who struggled with meth and heroin it’s the hardest thing I ever had to do was quit . It was harder than the things I did as a Marine , and it tore my family apart for over a decade . Hope she stays straight
she's done well for being able to admit her addiction, it takes courage. I hope she was able to overcome the addiction once and for all, but of course time will tell

I have 6 months sober! It’s not something where you get 3 months and it’s a guarantee that you will never use and or drink again. It’s a constant battle. I hope she continues to choose sobriety each day! Just as I wish it for myself and all other addicts/alcoholics!

@@LIPGLOSS13 I don't think she owes it to anyone to tell us what her addiction was. The message is addiction, the medium may be a number of different things that serve or have served you at one time. Why do we care if it was meth or if it was beer or food she was addicted to? Doesn't a story of healing resonate across borders? I mean, maybe her talking about the disease instead of the process could help people more. I personally, thought she was so incredibly brave during this interview and made me ask myself questions I may not otherwise have asked. And I was NOT a Cara fan before watching this video. Mad Respect for her. HuGE Cara fan now.

Gia carangi was made to do similar type of ''I am clean" type of interview back in the 80s
Proof that no one is above addiction. However, I don't have any more pity or empathy for a celebrity than I do for any of our brothers or sisters trying to survive on the street.
I think having equal empathy is enough. More often than not people think just because someone is rich or famous they don’t deserve empathy and they can’t have their struggles. Life is not a competition of who’s poorer. Everyone has their own struggles and as long as they’re not tone deaf to others’ they deserve validation and empathy too.
