Pov: You stood at the balcony. Looking down at all the festivities and bustle of relatives and unknown people for the mehendi. Your friend looked absolutely stunning in her dress. Everyone came and fed her sweets. The music boomed. People danced, clapped and cheered on the ones meddling in the joyous moments.
Fiddling with the hem of your dupatta, you pulled your hair to one side. The air was warm with the slight smell of kebabs, gulab jamuns, biryani and other varieties of supper. Though it was one of the happiest days of your life, you couldn’t be more happier for your friend.
But knowing she was being wed to the one person you thought you couldn’t love more than yourself…it hurt so bad to the point your heart became numb. Your eyes were already swollen and puffy from crying the moment you were informed who the groom was.
H/n. Now you looked as he made to the decorative swing and sat next to your friend, planting a kiss to her forehead. He couldn’t stop smiling and grinning…until his eyes met yours. Out of courage or pain, you didn’t avert your eyes. His smile fell. His jaw ticked and he stared back like the world stopped spinning and the spark between you both had it’s own heartbeat.
The wind bellowed your hair, and with a heavy heart you looked away. You could still feel his stare as you made your way downstairs and went straight to the bathroom. Despite your attempts, the heaviness took over and the tears sprang to life. Once your lids fell close, the memory came back as if to attack the wounds in your soul.
His hands intertwined with yours.
Him smelling the scent of your hair, securing a necklace.
Him feeding you.
Him grinning brighter than the sun.
You sobbed and didn’t stop. Not until it was time to soak it all again. It was over. Officially.
Ps: Not like I would be lucky this time and receive the immense love and support on my previous “pov” i made but hey? i hope this wasn’t corny. 😭💗
