Hard to say. I like the atmosphere of Spire, but there are so many logic problems with Spire (which I'll explain in the videos) that really irk me. Very little of what Sirrus did, particularly related to the rock ship, made any sense.
I think what's being overlooked here is that when human logic and human reasoning is applied to the mechanics in Spire, yes there's going to be a lot of things that aren't going to make sense because of how they were made based on the facts of how Sirrus got there, what tools he brought with him and how he managed to fabricate the stuff in the age to make his creations exist. There are many things that won't be explainable, but it does exist in a universe where it wouldn't exist in our own universe. In a sense we're going to a world where we may not have a world with these logical inconsistencies, but thanks to the highly advanced skill of the D'ni art system, bridging a link to such a place makes that possible (within the limits of how this fantasy functions) for us as individuals to enjoy the experience.

I just think there's a good theory to explain the supposed inconsistency between the Red/Blue books on the original Myst game and the Red/Blue books here - what we're using here to link to the prison ages are in fact the descriptive books for those ages. The Red/Blue books in the OG game are indeed trap books and its not like Atrus actually burnt the books which then spat Sirrus and Achenar into these Ages properly, he must've done something to get both Sirrus and Achenar out before sending them into the prison ages proper
Yay I just found this 17 minutes ago to see what i was missing in Uru Live. Then I read some one commenting that you update more frequently then any other Let's Play-er. And then I see that you just uploaded a video. :-)
Hey man, you mentioned in the video that there are some illogical things that turns you off from the cool aspects of the Spire. I can address one I believe. In Catherine's diary she mentions how they did a lot of the work by hand, and she mentioned how it would have been so much easier if they had used the art to create the construction instead. Perhaps Sirus learned enough of the art to construct these metal structures on this age.
On a similar note, does the visual style of Spire remind you of Toldemer in any way? The clear star-lit sky, exotic machinery and predominant green shades resemble Toldemer in many respects, particularly when you consider that both Ages are likely situated on a moon.
Just out of curiosity, do you prefer Spire to Haven? Spire had a disquieting mechanical vibe that I found quite intriguing. Haven is the more lush, vibrant Age, but the puzzles were infuriating and the plot points had little relevance in the rest of the game.
@CopycatStudios It's possible that these floating islands may be fragments of a moon in Spire's distant past. Some sort of cataclysm may have broken the moon apart, only for the pieces to orbit in a rough clump. After all, the rings of gas giants are most likely composed of debris from shattered moons. Perhaps a similar process has taken place in this Age.
an interesting thing about this game is that; in the first game at least for me, i tend to want to do the red pages and sirus related things first. but in this game, there is a certain sense that causes me to want to do achenar first. i had chosen to go to haven first, and in my opinion it is the easier age.
when i first did the fireplace i did it the hard way. i pushed buttons all over the place till i got some sort of a strategy and finally got them lit up correctly.
@Dilandau3000 The Spire landmass could still be a moon. If our own Moon was made of this strange floating rock, then the levitating properties would not make any difference. Our Moon would still circle the Earth as an object with mass caught in the gravity of something with more mass. (The vacuum of space may also be a factor.) The Spire moon may have somehow been pulled down to the outer cloud layers of the planet below, where it would still float (and orbit) like/as a moon.

Tucker Sirrus never learned the art and you can't make changes to an age you are physically in.

From what I recall, in the ORIGINAL Myst the red book was in fact red; however, in the realMYST remake, the book became pink.
Have you considered that Spire may, in fact, be a moon orbiting said gas planet?
And all Sirrus wanted was to mine some Unobtainium....
