- Which animal in the incredibly vast animal kingdom has the most ranger representation in the world of Super Sentai? In this video, I aim to answer that very question! I break down which animal groups are represented as rangers, my favorites of those groups, and the animal that has the most rangers of them all!
As I mentioned, I went through every ranger and counted rangers that are part of the core teams for my analysis- so this means no evil rangers, limited appearance rangers, etc. Do the results surprise you? Let me know!

Yeah but we don’t have the power ranger adaptation of it so we need power rangers bug bang or power rangers insect intact
Closest we have Ninja Storm, with the thunderstorm rangers and one can also argue for Green Samurai Ranger ( also from Ninja Storm not samurai),with his zord being more like a mecha Dragonfly and Beast X Gold&Silver.
Also, fun fact ,aka not related to the comment, Rhinos are technically related to horses, like how Hippos are related to whales and porpoises (including dolphins),and Bats ( although often considered as rats with wings) are more closely related to the to badgers and somehow to seals,etc, and White Tigers in this case, are just Snow Leopards ( despite the deceptive name,are the closest living relatives of the tiger, aka, can breed and produce fertile offsprings,like donkeys and zebra offsprings) - source: Casual Geographic/Hood Nature and Hood Nature. @@Garryzilla
This video make me thinking of some tropes on Super Sentai :
1. The red, blue and yellow trio on most team
2. If the trio have element, it's either fire or wind for red, water for blue especially female blue and land or lightning for yellow
3. If they use animal, red is usually dragon, some kinda of bird like eagle, hawk or falcon or t-rex for dinosaur, if blue is female, it's usually water based animal and yellow sometimes got the mammal
4. Red is usually the hotblooded guy and blue if the calm one or vice versa, if blue is the only female, she's usually the girly one, yellow or sometimes green is the funny one, black and also sometimes green is the muscly one and the 6th and extra hero bringi something different to the core team
I know nothing about Super Sentai if not through Power Rangers, but I noticed there are at least three blue rangers themed around the triceratops
(Zyuranger, Abaranger and Ryusoulger)
As much as I love Wild Force/GaoRanger, I feel like we really lost out on more rangers of wider colour ranges, having a Ranger awaken to partner with every Wild Zord would’ve been so cool.

Funnily enough they did acknowledge Saru brother's suit design in a fight as a passing line. He says that he's supposed to be a Japanese macaque (snow monkey) instead of a gorilla.

Here's a fun little tidbit: AbareKiller is, in fact, based on a pterosaur. He's based on the Tupuxuara, a genus of pterosaur from Brazil.
Go-on Green is an orca. His engine Birca, is literally a combo or bike and orca
If there was ever a Power Ranger outfit that I would want to wear, it would be the Lunar Wolf from Wild Force

I'm being pedantic here, and I know it's easier and more convenient to group these together, but pterosaurs weren't actually dinosaurs, which are related to birds, while pterodactyls and pteranodons were basically flying lizards.
Also spiders are arachnids but he puts them in insect themed...😅 I mean, even Spider-Man explains many times it in various Spider-Man tv series(animated) given that I thought he would have known it.

I would love to see a sea animal themed season similar to Kingohger, sea animals I love and it would be incredible to see it happen in the future

Also the gold form of Zyuoh the world is crocodile and it's a reptile
It kind of boggles my mind that lost galaxy calls the green ranger's zord a condor when it clearly looks like a dragon
While obviously not a bird, I don't think it's a dragon either. I'd say probably a pterosaur of some kind. Maybe a Ranphorynchus or a Quetzalcoatlus.

It’s kinda sad how little spiders have been represented in both Sentai and Kamen Rider when you consider the Emissary from Hell, Spider-Man! Heck, considering Spider-Man’s popularity period, it’s weird how few spider-themed rangers/riders there are. You could count them one one hand and one of them seems more Clubs theme than spider them:
1) Kamen Rider Leangal (hard to spell his name, he’s the green and purple rider from Blade)
2) Kamen Rider Demons
3) Spider Kumonos
Heck, even if they have it as part of a gimmick series, it rarely gets shown! The Trapping Spider Progrise Key only got used twice, once with a weapon and a second time with the Raidriser in a stag show. Chaser’s spider core only gave him a somewhat spider themed weapon, and the spider lamp in Ghost is overshadowed by the Eyecon it’s used with (Benkei)! They deserve more representation amongst heroes, especially since we would have mecha fights without Toku Spider-Man and Leopard!

i find it odd how only the male magirangers were repesented while magiblue wasn’t put under aquatic and magipink wasn’t put under insects
I didn’t include MagiBlue because she’s a mermaid, which I didn’t count as an animal. Same reason as why I didn’t include ChangeMermaid! Also, MagiPink wasn’t included because she is a fairy, even though her visor looks very much like a butterfly!
My favorites are red T-Rex and Lions, my personal favorite seasons are the first MM, Wild Force, Dino Thunder and Dino Charge.
Please do a video like this one, but for every theme in super sentai instead of just focusing on the animals, this was super interesting

3:11 Kirin/Qilin are a type of a dragon and are called the Chinese unicorn
Fun Fact: When Giraffes were brought over to China they were believed to be Kirin/Qilin
What about the deathryuger or kyoryu navy they were representing the spinosaurus for dinosaurs as well you forgot to mention them
Would love to see a sequel to this going into the frequency of animal mech motifs. It'd be interesting to see how the chart shifts when auxiliary zords are taken into account.

You forgot to mention that Jet Black was a condor also. Yes there are so far two condor rangers in Sentai History: Jet Black and Go-On Red.

I like a new Dino/prehistoric Rangers with a Red Pteranodon or Raptor, Yellow Brontosaurus, Blue T-Rex, Purple Mammoth, and Cyan Megaladon.
not including kakurangers because they lacked an animal motif but gained Animal mech, but you included Battle Kenya..and the Hurricangers, nothing about their suits reflect an animal motif.
IMO, Battle Kenya’s helmet is very distinctly panther-like, so he went on the list! Also Hurricanegers have the animal emblems on their helmets, I forget about Red and Blue but Yellow at least has teeth! It’s not much, but to me it counted!
the hurricanegers definetly have animal motifs.they have symbols reflecting their respective animals on their chest and also their little coin emblems on their helmets and their visors reflect their respective animals too.

Super Sentai Cliches That I Have Ever Seen:
-Even the most unlikely themes (such as agent, angel, samurai) have an animal sub-motif.
-If they start with a trio, their colors will definitely be red-blue-yellow.
Although recently there have been times when yellow has been replaced by pink.
-Leaders are either wacky or too serious, there is never a middle ground.
-Blue ones are relatively calmer or smarter, mostly symbolise wisdom.
-If there will be a 3+2 system, that duos are mostly green-black colored.
-Greens, just like reds, are either very serious or very naive, clumsy and weak.
-With rare exceptions, blacks are generally the most serious members of their groups.
-Vehicle theme is the most popular theme after animal theme.
-Two-piece gloves and shoes, armor details and weapon based transformation tools are frequently seen in current seasons.
-Mecha combination names are ended with -oh suffix at most.

I was really on the fence about Go-On Silver because even though her mecha is a Tiger, her suit design is more focused on the jet, so I didn’t include her 🙁 I included only rangers whose suits had explicit animal motifs in their design!
In group of dragon you didn't include the blue ninninger , and canine group you also didn't include white ninninger
Before i comment, im not really into super sentai, more power rangers but like vids about it. I saw the white Deka Ranger classified as a bird. As i said im more into PR. There she was the one off Cat ranger. Im curios now how she fit in in the sentai in comparison to PR. There she was a cat and no bird. I could imagine the bird guy of SPD who handed the Morpher is in the sentai this ranger. Thats said cruger looks like a dog, his ranger form aswell. But i dont see the bird in the suit and for me more cat fitting.

Yes! But I’m counting rangers whose suits have an explicit animal motif. So even though the Samurai/Shinkengers use animal mechs, their suits focus is on their elemental kanji, so I didn’t count them.

But my threshold for including rangers on this list is if they are VERY obviously and explicitly animal themed, and I felt like Go-On Wings didn’t integrate the animals as much into their suits as the core Go-Ongers, with Gold doing like the bare minimum to seem bird/chicken like.

When I looked up GingaGreen’s Starbeast, it was described as a “falcon hybrid dragon-like beast”, so I felt it made more sense to put him in Dragon than Bird!
