    Took Alaska cruise on the Bliss last June and loved the ship. Had same itinerary. Back on the ship in April with Skagway switched for Sitka. Nice to see content for the ship. The Observation deck is a lovely place to kick back in.

      My mother, sister, and I are as well from the 14th to the 21st.. 1st time booking a haven suite too! Figured if ever there was a time a bucket list Alaskan cruise would be the time to go the extra expense . Especially with the concierge and priority at the ports, for extra time.

    Formal night isn’t so strict as you say on NCL. Hardly saw anyone formal when sailing The British Isles.

      I just got off the Bliss a week ago and I didn't see anyone in formal wear at all during our Alaska cruise. I ate in the main dining room most nights and I certainly didn't dress up -- just jeans and a nice pullover sweater was fine anywhere on the ship, including the specialty restaurants.

    • @exploringwithcindyanddan
      @exploringwithcindyanddan  Před rokem +1

      Hello, even though we arrive always so late in the evenings the Bliss has multiple excursions that you might want to consider and they are responsible for coming back to the ship on time (if you do a Norwegian excursion). We always do the excursions withe the cruise line so we do not get any unexpected delays, having said that The Burchard gardens and Victoria Highlights is a great excursion, you can see the city at night and it is beautiful., the other excursion is I believe the "O Canada Highlights" it is only 2.5 hours and you will also see the city including iconic landmarks and I don't know if they are giving a bag of goodies anymore (it used to come with chips, maple candy, and chocolate ) but if you want to save some money the "Victoria Walking Tour" is great and it is only $45 and $35 for children.
      I like the walking tours because you get to take pictures along the way and Victoria is very pretty at nighttime. I remember years ago maybe 5-6 years ago, we were able to arrive into Victoria earlier in the afternoon so we could spend more time in the city but looks like things are very fluid nowadays....whatever you do you will have a good time...
      I hope this helps. have a safe and wonderful cruise. We are doing a Discovery Princess cruise at the end of May!! have fun!!

      @Exploring with Cindy and Dan thank you so much, I'll look into that Victoria Walking Tour. Enjoy your princess cruise as well. We just did Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Sea 2 months ago, and it's good to be back cruising again 😎.

      @@exploringwithcindyanddan I did the "O Canada" tour in Victoria last week. They still give you a goodie bag... and you stop at Tim Horton's for coffee (or hot chocolate or water if you prefer) and some timbits. Although I've been to Victoria many times, I really enjoyed the tour, especially since the tour guide was so awesome! They didn't offer the Butchart Gardens tour, which was a bit disappointing but really, it would have been entirely too rushed given our time in port.

    • @exploringwithcindyanddan
      @exploringwithcindyanddan  Před 7 měsíci

      Oh wow, they don’t have the Butchard garden tour? Well the last time we did that tour was probably over a year ago with Princess Cruise. I hope they will go back to their previous schedule where we used to get into Canada around 4pm instead of 7 or 8pm.

    Did you do an excursion in Sitka and Icy Straight or just walk around on your own? We are planning our excursions now and it would be helpful to know. Thanks.

    • @exploringwithcindyanddan
      @exploringwithcindyanddan  Před 3 měsíci

      We didn’t do any excursion because it was our first time in Sitka and we have a 3 years old with us so we decided to just do a walking tour of our own and eat in town. There are so many things to do in town if you don’t an excursion. We cruise all the time so we try not to do too many excursions because they are very expensive but having said that if it is your first time and you want to see more than just walking I would suggest you to do an excursion.

    • @JodiOrgillBrown
      @JodiOrgillBrown Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@exploringwithcindyanddan What is there to do walking around town? Fun shops? Museums? Parks? I'd love to understand more!

    • @exploringwithcindyanddan
      @exploringwithcindyanddan  Před 3 měsíci

      We arrived at the port and then buses (free buses) were waiting for cruise passengers to take us to the town. Once we arrived we did a walking tour ourselves. The downtown area has streets that mainly in summer are pedestrians-only so that was great.
      You will see many Russians buildings and gold-type Russian architecture
      And there is also a lot of the Tlingit culture all over town like the totem poles.
      There is the Russian bishop house, st Michael orthodox cathedral and for food there are a couple of good see food restaurants but I don’t remember their names, once you are in the town you can ask the locals.
      The stores are everywhere like any other port town so you will find everything there. Also check the descriptions of the excursions and see if you like any of them and you can do an excursion with them or a private one which are so much cheaper

    Is NCL better than Princess or Royal Caribbean ?

    • @exploringwithcindyanddan
      @exploringwithcindyanddan  Před rokem +1

      Hello Julia,
      We love Princess cruise line but NCL and Royal caribbean are great as well. It’s hard to say which cruise line is better because it depends on you and what your family wants. If you are looking for scenic views and wilderness Princess and Royal Caribbean are great, if you have children NCL and Royal Caribbean are the best because they have water slides, car racing, Ice skating rings and a lot of activities for children and youth, if you want a more quiet and relax atmosphere Princess cruise is better…so it depends. Thank you for arching our videos.
