Saints of the houses who perform miracles with tradition | Porto de Tradição

1880. It was a time of great social unrest in the city of Porto, where the economy and industry were on the rise, and where religion was a basic pillar of society. At a time when the Santos Populares are being celebrated, we went to see Casa Coração de Jesus, which was founded in 1885. At the time, embroidery was sold to the Church, but from the 1970s onwards, the Vatican opted for simpler ornaments, which forced the business to move towards selling articles of worship.
We also visited Casa Felisberto, a century-old marble workshop founded in 1880. In the early days of the business, sales were mainly of funerary material, but over the years the financial sustainability of this house began to depend on interior decoration. They work with artists and say that proximity is the key word in this workshop.
