Ukrainian Ruslana who won ESC 2004 with "Wild Dances" also had a lot in common with this song - EDM with traditional elements, lyrics about wild energy, fire, and woman dancing in the forest, etc. Interesting fact, although the song presented in ESC was in English, many songs in that album were written in a dialect of Ukrainian spoken in the Carpathian Mountains. Not a separate language like Breton, but still.
Criminally underrated, your points shocked me, the perfomance was even better than the recording and was my favourite of the show! Loved seeing a different side of france represented, europe just wasn't ready for you guys yet! Please don't stop making music!

Je ne comprends pas pourquoi ce titre n'est pas plus haut chez les bookmakers, les eurofans,ou les jurys. Il a tout pour être au top.
Les jurys sont très conservateurs et/ou géopolitiques dans l'ensemble : les votes entre pays voisins avec des cultures proches, on connaît à l'Eurovision. C'est une tradition inamicale, pas sympa du tout. Par ailleurs, les chansons gagnantes ignorent souvent l'originalité ou la prise de risque sauf rares exceptions. La consensualité domine largement.
Il faut alors vraiment un morceau qui rallie un peu tout le monde pour que ce soit acquis côté victoire. La candidature française avec son originalité ethnique celtique peut laisser hermétiques bon nombre de pays ignorant le fond de la culture celte quand même très spécifique. Mais bon, les exceptions existent comme je l'ai dit ! Parfois, un outsider apparaît et bouscule le jeu de quilles trop bien alignées. Oui, j'aimerais que la France soit ce "mouton noir" qui bouleverse tout. Notre pays a pris un risque avec une telle sélection : ça mérite un certain respect.

Le fait de sortir le clip 3 jours avant la demi finale où la France sera en live a pas dû aider. Genre ce clip est génial mais les gars c'est y a 2 mois qu'il fallait le sortir.
Genre j'adore cette chanson mais le "clip" sur la chaîne ESC avec un pixel qui dit merde à l'autre, et où fr2 a monté l'audio de la version studio avec la vidéo du live ce qui donne l'effet d'un mauvais doublage, ça a vraiment pas dû aider niveau hype vis à vis des eurofans qui assez largement se limitent à la chaîne youtube de l'ESC.
Le côté géopolitique est largement à mitiger, le top 5 l'année dernière à la rigueur l'Ukraine et l'Islande auraient pu tirer profit du vote par blocs mais c'était surtout des très bonnes chansons de base. Quand la France est constamment top 10 sur 40 je pense qu'on peut pas dire qu'on se la fait mettre à l'envers sur le vote géographique ni que c'est seulement l'effet du système big 5 sans quoi on serait toujours derniers en finale (comme l'Allemagne ou le Royaume Uni)
A part genre les Balkans, Grèce/Chypre, ou dans une certaine mesure la Suède c'est nettement moins flagrant que ca l'était de par le passé surtout quand on était en televote pur.

It was Telemoveis all over again - genuine, artistic, moving, deeply rooted in underrepresented culture and history and criminally under appreciated by casual viewers. Songs like Fulenn are *why* I watch Eurovision every year. Thanks for all your hard work Alvan + Ahez, please remember that there are always songs that don’t get immediate love and support at Eurovision but are remembered for their innovative quality in the years to come and Fulenn is one of those songs that may not have been given it’s due the year it competed but will stand the test of time as a genuine triumph. In my opinion, the sound was not well mastered during the competition performance. There was practically nothing left from the bass low frequencies and voice effects...top song! 👍

Vous savez tout de même qu'il n'y a jamais eu de celte en Bretagne. Paris est celte par contre. Il n'y a que des Bretons en Bretagne et pas de gaulois qui eux sont celtes.

Bien sûr que si ... Renseignez-vous sur la phylogénie des langues celtiques. Le breton appartient à la même branche que le gallois et le cornique, ainsi que feu le gaulois.
@@katika44 bon petit résumé rapide, oui il y a eu des celtes avant l'arrivé des britons par les migration du 5eme et 6eme siecle. Murus galicus, opidum, site de paule avec pas mal d'éléments ou encore temoignage indirect etc etc etc. Bref pas de doute pour cette periode ensuite l'arrivé des Britons a ramené une population brittonique (des celtes ) et bien sur leurs langue qui par la suite va evoluer et se differencier des autres langues issues du Brittonique que sont le gallois et le cornique. Le breton d'aujourd'hui est bien une langue celtique dans son ascendance certe mais dans son fonctionnement ou son vocabulaire. Pour ce qui est de la population ça n'as pas vraiment de sens etant donné que le monde celte est plus un monde culturel que purement de population. Par contre une part significative de la population bretonne actuel descend bien des migrations du 5eme et 6 eme qui ont ramener la langue bretonne en armorique.

How cool would an underground track sung in Irish be in Eurovision!! Maybe with some rapping in Irish as well, to showcase that a language should not just be allocated the role of a decorative and anachronistic national symbol without actual usage or relevance for contemporary people.

Celtic/Gaelic are very interesting ones, and a trip to (Southern) Ireland a few years ago made me really catch something for Irish gaelic!

Ce concours servit avant tout de message clair de solidarité par la communauté Européenne à l'Ukraine adressé au fou furieux d'autocrate russe, en attendant le probable futur conflit en mer de Chine avec le "président à vie" chinois, exècrant et vomissant lui aussi les démocraties et les droits de l'homme.
Le résultat de ce concours dont le piètre classement de nos représentants bretonnants resteront anecdotiques, malgré une honnête qualité et originalité dans leur prestation.
Les drames de l'humanité possède heureusement la primauté chez les européens "sur" un évènement culturel ou sportif.

Maybe this song was too good for eurovision?! It was in top 5 for me. Everything about this masterpiece is so unusual, the language, the performance, the energy, these all made me fell in love with Fulenn straight away and want to listen again and again.
So did for me, definitely robbed of their true worth placement.
The Eurovision is as much political as it is about music. France made some questionable decisions to do with Ukraine and suffered shunning as a result.
