- Decided to do a few repair on this 1980s reel to reel tape recorder. Although obsolete and not even all that popular in its time, with the introduction of the compact cassette, they produced a superior audio quality. Even today, could be arguably considered better than some compressed digital formats.

I like that LED filament repair, very tidy.
Very interesting. One thing I always had problems with was those that used light for the end of tape, finding a bulb to fit some of those was a nightmare.
Thanks, know the types you mean, even early video recorders used small bulbs and photo diodes to detect end of tape. The photo diode would be sensitive to infra-red and the bulb would emit in all directions so could be interesting but fiddly to replace with an LED.
😀😎👍👍
☹️ - you had the light level wrong when demonstrating it = washing out the analog meters so we couldn’t see them “swinging”
Yeah, did notice that. I had a bit of video close up shot showing the VU meters operating but removed it because of potential CZcams copyright issues with the music.
The guy makes a free video sharing a repair of this old machine for anyone to enjoy and this is what you say 🤦🏻♂️, I'm sure your content has absolutely perfect light levels and camera angles, oh wait let me guess "this channel does nothing" 😞
