"Band-aids aren't cool. They've never been a fashion statement." I know of a certain knife youtuber who that may have felt personally attacked by this, lol.
My #1 has to be the Spyderco Smock. I haven’t removed the 2nd detent ball (and don’t plan to) but it is still totally drop shutty. You can easily thumb, spidey, and of course flip!! Super fun! 💕🔪
Got the Maileah recently and while it needed the tension of the lock bar to be adjusted, it is by far the most fidgety knife I have. It still needs a proper edge as the one from factory is more than 20 deg per side, but it is still surprising useful as box opener - the 3 finger grip it provides is super secure. So thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Other than the Protech my vote would be for the Smock. Man! it is such a fidget enabler. So many ways to open it that’s it’s hard to put down. I had planned to remove the 2nd detent ball but haven’t yet thought it needed it. Plus it’s still breaking in. Great vid man and cool sticker. 🤘🏼

For budget option .. ganzo F729 ... You can you can spydy flick it, thumb flick it, just swing it out .. effordlessly do exactly what you did with that Demko .. smooth spydy hole with axis lock on ball bearings for price of dinner for two :)
Cool video, wasnt familiar w your top 4, definitely agree w the Smock...you can swirl it out with the weight of the blade, and for me the Spydie flick is super natural on it, but I've never tried on camera. I'll have to check out the Malibu, don't have a Protech. 👍
Discontinued and underrated IMO, the Benchmade 531 is a wonderful fidget/office EDC blade that is in my rotation. The way the axis lock pushes the blade out for you is great, and when it’s tuned right, it will flick like an auto, I can even index and spydie flick it off the thumb studs. But the PM2, is definitely my go to. I’ve done an acid etch and stone wash on my S30V, and the I anodized some Flytanium hardware to bronze, and changed out the scales to Ripps Tech garage green canvas micarta. I also have a TI lynch clip I annodozed to match. It’s my baby lol.

Personally, I don’t find the jimping to wear on my thumb at all. The detent on the lock feels more like a latch... kinda hard to describe, but I’d definitely call it more of a latch feeling than a detent. To be honest, it really doesn’t compare to the Malibu at all. The detent on the Malibu is literally perfect for the knife, but there kind of isn’t a true detent for the AD20. I don’t think it’s realistic to compare the two. Hope this helps, just want to be honest with ya. 👊🏼
