    DISCLAIMER: Please refrain from making uneducated assumptions about an individual's diagnosis. You are allowed to express concern of whether you believe someone is faking or not, however, please refrain from leaving harmful comments regarding them. Autism is a spectrum. Everyone is different and exhibits different traits. You may or may not relate to these individuals and that is fine but do not assume that because you have traits that differ from them, they are not autistic! If an individual is proven to be faking or they have a negative reputation in the community, please feel free to respond to this post or private message me on my socials!
    Also for clarification: Autism as well as any other neurodiversities represented in these videos are on a spectrum! Everyone is different! Do not use these videos as a means of diagnosing yourself or even questioning your diagnosis! Everyone will have different experiences and struggles! You are perfect the way you are and do not define yourself because a lot of autistic individuals don't like a food but you do, or you like wearing socks compared to those who don't! Be yourself and accept that we are all different!

    Thank you to the person who talked about being able to read social cues in regard to others, but not when it is about ourselves. I’m a hospice nurse. Deal with all kinds of emotional issues, especially my patients’ families. I can enter a home, and within minutes know exactly what type of emotional support each person there needs from me, and can readily provide it. Yet, totally lost when I’m the subject in an interaction. This finally makes sense.

    • @that1fangrl
      @that1fangrl Před rokem +28

      The reason neurotypicals will ask questions instead of give orders is because other neurotypicals will get offended at being given an order. By asking a question, they are giving you a chance to notice something is wrong without them "telling you" anything. That way NTs can figure out "on their own" that they should fix something rather than being told to fix something
      I do the same thing when trying to correct someone above me, for example my boss. I ask the question because I don't know if the workplace rules have changed, so I get more information and they get to double check that everything is correct!

  • @weezbo
    @weezbo Před rokem +11

    The eye contact part is NOT TRUE.
    Eye contact does mean looking into the other person’s eyes. There are different levels of intensity that people can employ and there can be different levels of meaning to it.
    At normal social distance you can generally simulate it well enough socially with a superficial acquaintance by watching the nose or lips and just glancing occasionally at the eyes.
    But this “oh it’s just generally looking at the person’s face” thing is a lie. When you’re generally looking at the center horizontal line of a person’s face you are looking at their eyes. Neurotypical people are able to gauge how much to ride this line to convey the emotions or social signals they want to in part because they get a feedback loop from what the other person’s eyes are doing. Which they can tell because they are making eye contact by looking at the other person’s eyes.

    Mitchels vs the Machines is one of the only films that hits so hard for my AuADHD self.
    I love dinosaurs and heavily related to both of the younger kids in that aspect because I really wanted to talk to anyone and everyone about them as well as blurting out random facts I learned. (Like its actually thought now that the T-Rex wasnt fully covered in feathers, but it's still possible it had a few, and the roar of the T-rex is 10 times more terrifying because us humans wouldn't actually be able to hear it but could only feel the vibrations of the roar.) I didn't have a lot of friends either that would talk with me about dinosaurs, but mainly a childhood friend who we played with a lot because he too likes dinosaurs and would listen to me talk about them and play them with me. We recently reconnected again and its been a blast.
    I was told I couldn't be an artist when I was younger because "they don't make a enough of money to support themselves"
    I always felt like a disappointment for not drawing the things my parents wanted/expected me to draw and was told I was weird because of it. (had numerous meltdowns when I did try to do what they wanted me to do)
    I ended up finding "my people" through an Animation School and was commissioned by the teacher on more than one occasion for a book cover (not school related) and banners/ads for the school. Got hired as an Art mentor at the school and get to talk about art 24/7 with kids older and younger than me, as well as been a guest Teacher in multiple lessons, right out of highschool!
    I am working on a short film that has dinosaurs in it too!! (Based on one of my favorite games, and the developers of said game saw it and ended up giving me a free copy of the game remake when it first came out because of it

    The horrible thing about this is that there is actually no significant scientific reason to believe t-rex really had feathers

    • @WanderingInWonderland93
      @WanderingInWonderland93 Před 9 měsíci +2

      According to the American Museum of Natural History:
      "Paleontologists think feathers may have first evolved to keep dinosaurs warm. But while a young T. rex probably had a thin coat of downy feathers, an adult T. rex would not have needed feathers to stay warm."
      Also from their website:
      "A small tyrannosaur from the same family lived in the Liaoning forest. This small cousin of T. rex, Dilong paradoxus, was also a fierce predator. Certain features of Dilong resemble those of T. rex. Both have large jaws with small, tightly packed front teeth. But this tyrannosaur has some surprising features--most notably, a thin coat of featherlike fibers. A team of paleontologists led by Xu Xing of the Chinese Academy of Sciences studied the fibers and thinks these "protofeathers" may have helped keep Dilong warm.
      A relative of T. rex sporting feathers might seem surprising, but scientists actually expected to find a feathered tyrannosaur one day. Tyrannosaurs are classified as advanced theropods (theropods are two-legged, meat-eating dinosaurs). Scientists have found simple feathers on a wide range of advanced theropods, suggesting that feathers were present throughout the entire group."
      If you're interested in reading more of the article its titled "A Feathered Tyrant".

      Because everyone is different. I have learned from observing that different people prefer different things. Generally looking at someone's nose or brow or ears is sometimes fine. Or just glancing at their eyes to show "I see you, I hear you" then looking away is enough. Other people are very demanding that you look directly at them in the eyeballs, and can tell if you're not. Those people are also assholes and on a power trip. They want to dominate over your functions, forcing you to behave a way they deem acceptable. That's a them problem sweetness, not you. They can suck a lemon.
