Those who says that Far Cry 3 is the best in the series, clearly never played this masterpiece.

I actually liked the demo of this game the best. I played that thing every night for a couple months maybe? It was compact, I could try to better and better each time I ran though. The actual game, though, wasn't that fun, because there was too much filler. If they tried to make a great game that was 1/3 of the size, that would have been better. Far Cry 3 is one of the only A+ games I've even played, back in 2012, and I liked it pretty well.

The water is still way better than in any other modern game even though fc1 was released in 2004. Crytek is truly amazing

Water reflections are a bit off though, look for 1:34 for example. The water should reflect the shadowy cliff in the left, but it's white. Looks like it's an operating system issue because it works fine under Windows XP.

One of all time favorite games. First open FPS I played. At first I hated the fact that I could not save the game at any point, but it made me a far better player and added a lot more tension to the game. I challenge anyone to beat the game at the highest settings. There parts of the game that are so realistic that 1-2 shots and you are dead, and unrealistically hard where the NPC can see and hear you from over 100 yards away.
There's a community patch that fixes everything and it feels like a whole new game if you apply it.

Far Cry 1 is one of the those games that get some (minor) bugs when running at more than 60 fps - something to keep in mind.

how do you get the motion blur it looks super smooth
I'm not entirely sure about that. The game is from Steam and I assume it's version 1.4 with no additional mods or add-ons installed. Motion blur, even when enabled in other games, isn't noticeable on my 165 Hz screen.

@4K VRAM goes to 3 GB... for 20 year old game... Power of Cryengine 1.. I was struggling to run this game at max settings with 6600 GT when this game got released
Depending on the game, VRAM scales with the resolution, especially in older titles. In newer ones, it's usually that the VRAM is used to fill it up with stuff, and higher or lower resolutions don't increase or decrease the VRAM usage. In these older games, it scales.

I consider the vegetation and water in far cry 1 to be superior to the one in 3. also the draw distance seems to be better in 1. man this game was such a gem. the vistas were also really nice

Yep. Still no terrain in the reflections. Just vegetation. It's so weird to me that we've been seeing this bug since Windows Vista, through generation after generation of graphics hardware, and still nobody has discovered the root cause or how to fix it.
windows xp completely manage directx 9.0c with shader model 3.0 and even with the 64bits version it already manages direct 10 but as software (directx 10 feature level 9)
What mods are you using? I have a steam version with horrible LODs and enemies that shot trough the walls...
No mods are involved. This is the vanilla version from the Steam platform too. You might want to install the community patch www.moddb.com/mods/farcry-addon-mod-fcam/downloads/unofficial-farcry-patch-1505 to avoid these issues.
Same result with nvidia 1080 gtx no problems
after explosion fps level it's complicated on this game already that you are with the executable of the game in 32 bits despite with this config of the time more than the engine is the cryengine 1.0 (crisys 2007 it is the 2.0) and no the dunia 1.0 which came on facry 2 besides the dunia is based on the cryengine and then was used on all the far cry parts after

This guy played it on Windows 11 so of course it will also work on Windows 7. By the way why don't you upgrade at least to Windows 10? Windows 7 is not supported anymore by Microsoft so there is a higher risk of getting a virus.
