@@wilE6764 I don't mean to be weird or upset you in any way but as a guy who graduated in 87 I find that this gen's interest in that time very refreshing. I have an idea about a theme park/larp situation where people could interact for their stay as if it really was that time period-kind of like "west-world"? I wonder if that would be viable from a business perspective-I wish I had the capitol to try it! Maybe someone will. On an even more positive note, things can be good again. I have a long time friend, from the age of 12! Anyway, he really identifies with the 1920s! Lol, he fit right in as a preppie. I don't mean anything by my comment-just trying to be nice, share a thought-have a good day.

It's social media man....kids go to it like we went to books if we wanted to know something....problem is no editors or fact checkers in social media just a bunch of talking heads saying whatever they want...kids today think "opinion" is the same as a fact....like facts are subjective. It's terrible to watch...can see the results easily...
Go google and search things like toxic, gaslighting, depression, narcissism, and toxicity and then hit the "tools" drop-down and look at how many results you get for those terms....billions man Here look at this in comparison...type in the most popular musician today Taylor Swift into google and look at the results....not even close to those other terms...tells us something about our kids man and what is wrong with Millennials especially imo...
I was reading a paper on the study of search terms in google and it's crazy....this is the lowest point in history kids are searching for musicians, video games and stuff like that instead they are searching for the meaning of life on google and tiktok and instagram and youtube....it is scary man....wondering why the culture has changed so much since even the pandemic? THAT is why....this is what they were doing while they were at home and now they are sick...

Aside from the fashion, people seemed way more normal back then. I think smart phones and social media seriously messed up people's minds. There's something unhealthy about knowing that anything you post online could suddenly be scrutinized in front of the entire school/town/country.... in some cases the entire planet. Kids used to go home from school and have a safe place they could be themselves and do what they wanted without judgement... now when you go home you have to fit in on social media too. There's no downtime. This is why everything seems so easy in life now but people are so stressed and mentally unhealthy.

Not a chance. The issue is the "woke" agenda of the rich man. Kids can't be kids anymore. If you get into a fistfight you go to jail/get expelled. We used to just get a couple of days suspension. You can't speak your mind with political correctness today. We spoke ours back then, which is why we were normal. We said what we had to say and put up our hands to defend it if need be. Today the kids are taught a bunch of B.S. behavior skills, small wonder they're half nuts. The list is endless. Technology is just a tool, meaningless without context.

@Wander-Core If is wasn't for the 80s you would have rock and hip hop the way it is now (MTV). And you would not have video games the way they are now, either. Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Beastie Boys, NWA, Guns & Roses, and many more legends in music. Let's not forget Nintendo came out in the 80s which set the tone for PlayStation and Xbox. PCs turn the tide in the 80s which set the tide to today's gaming PCs. And the food taste better back then. McDonald's taste really good back then and was treat to go too.

They cost thousands of dollars and were the size of a large womans purse you put them on your shoulder. These kids arent like kids now where cameras have been around since you were a baby and it feels normal. We were just discovering this type of thing in the 80's.

Computers were grey or beige boxes that did very little, MTV played music, people knew how to socialise. Fewer distractions, when you were out of the house you were just OUT and nobody could pester you, you could leave your bike outside a shop or your friends house and it would still be there later.
