  • Pinel Island is a must-see and experience when visiting the island St. Martin | St. Maarten!
    How to get there...
    1. Drive out to Cul de Sac on the French Side just north of Orient Beach.
    2. Park in the free parking lot.
    3. Board the Ferry which runs every 30 minutes starting at 9:30am (check the website for details and exact times)
    4. Pay $12 for a round trip ferry ride
    5. Rent a chair from either Karibuni or Yellow Beach (about $20 for two chairs)
    6. Enjoy your day!
    7. Grab lunch at Karibuni or Yellow Beach (Karibuni is featured in this video)
    8. Remember what the captain said on the ferry for when the last ferry back is!
    9. Post pictures on social media and make your friends jealous.
    Pinel is an absolute blast and one of my favorite day trips in SXM. The beach has impeccable calm water, the sand is super white and the experience is like none other. I love going here so I can view St. Martin from the island. It's such a different experience to be able to sit on a beach and look at the island rather than out into the blank ocean. Drinks are amazing, food is incredible and the service is absolutely amazing.

    I've been to Pinel island many times, its always the highlight of our Caribbean vacation. It obviously has beautiful turquoise water, whites sand beaches and incredible food but it is so much more than that. The people are great, everyone is happy, it makes for a perfect day. I second what Phillip said "one of my favorite places on earth" .

      Daniel Armino always great to hear from another Pinel Lover! And you’re so right, it’s the happiest place I know. ☺️

    It's not that it was dry, it's just because hurricane Irma came not too long before you came. Maybe a year prior or so. Otherwise, absolutely love Pinel. Love SXM.

      I have been out there a lot over the years. Sometimes it’s just dry and the island looks brown. It happens.

    • @philphriday
      @philphriday  Před 3 lety

      Thank you. I believe you can as long as you don't use the rent chairs from the restaurants. They will probably want you to order directly from them. But I'm not sure how strict that is since you'll have to pay for the chairs.

    I went here as a kid about 11 years old. Do they still have that long sandbar that stretches into the ocean?

    Any recommendations on resorts and Happy Hours? Don’t want to hear planes all day long but want to be close to some good nightlife

    • @philphriday
      @philphriday  Před 9 měsíci

      Staying in Cupecoy is a nice way to have a relaxing quiet place but also close to nightlife. If you don't want to drive at all, then you need to stay near Maho. Or take a cab into Simpson Bay.

    We are returning for the first time since our honeymoon and this is definitely on our list. How does reserving the chairs work if you hike over to the other beach? Do you just leave your shit on your chair to show it’s been claimed?

    • @philphriday
      @philphriday  Před rokem

      You reserve chairs through the restaurants Karibuni or Yellow Beach. You can leave your stuff on the chair to go visit the other side.

    You might see a comment from on every video, lol. My family is visiting in August. So what's they're to do on Pinel besides relax and lounge? We'll have at least 3 generations with us including kids, ages 9, 11 and 13.

    • @philphriday
      @philphriday  Před 4 lety +1

      Favored4life the island has iguanas on it that kids can enjoy and you can explore it by walking around, but for the most part it’s two restaurants and beaches. But the water is calm and easy to swim in.

      Steven S haha! We had plenty on! Might look a little red with the color correcting I used to get the colors of the island a little brighter. I appreciate the concern though!
