  • I was concerned about the possibility of fire with the previous single-wall stove pipe, so I swapped it out for a double-wall pipe for safety. How did it work out?

    Is your roof decking shiplap or tongue and groove? In the sketchup video it looked as if it were shiplap.

    Very beautiful sauna build! I have a question about your Nippa stove. I see you got it with the hang on water tank. How long does it take for that water to boil? Or does it ever boil?

      It never gets to a boil. I like to fill it half full of water and then fill it to full with cold water once the sauna gets hot. That makes nice warm water for bathing.

    Glad you put in the class a vent. I have a couple questions on the fantastic build, as I look to my own, albeit smaller version targeted for our property in western Canada... Did you consider employing an insulated floor on top of concrete slab, which I imagine acts as a big heat sink. Any longer term issues with frame, wood species and drying. Thanks for great content

      I don't think the uninsulated floor is a big issue, but of course I don't have a point of comparison. Perhaps it would heat up faster, but my gut feel is we're talking about a percent or two difference. I've only noticed the floor getting warm if we run the sauna hot for a full day (which we've only done once). The pine frame did develop some splits as it dried, particularly in the hot room, but splits are not unusual for a green frame, and it's not a structural issue. There are some areas where the wall meets a post which I could seal up a bit, but overall no problems.

    Why is it you didnt need a new box in the ceiling? Is that designed to have minimal clearance to combustables?

    • @SalemWoodworks
      @SalemWoodworks  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, the box provides clearance through the ceiling.

    What size pipe is that? I had to modify my double wall 6” pipe to get it over the stove flue collar on my Nippa stove.

      It's a six inch pipe. I didn't have any trouble connecting it. I don't recall which connectors I used.

    What flue connector did you use? Did you insert inside or outside the stove flue? Nippa recommends outside. I’m having a hell of a time making the flue connection

      I had to go look to remind myself, but the connector between the stove and the pipe does fit outside the outflow pipe for the stove. I dug through my orders and couldn't find the exact part order for sure, but I think it's this one: www.homedepot.com/p/DuraVent-DuraBlack-6-in-Single-Wall-Chimney-Stove-Pipe-Adapter-6DBK-AD/202269774?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&&mtc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D28I-028_020_FIRE-NA-MULTI-NA-SMART-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-SMART_SHP&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D28I-028_020_FIRE-NA-MULTI-NA-SMART-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-SMART_SHP-71700000090520830-58700007651781816-92700069166037424&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkOqZBhDNARIsAACsbfJjXwGmFi_m710OqnpB2LkoNzfUTDMKtAydxvGtw3FumklfkGwvDKgaAlBEEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
