      As TP Steiner had to do everything…some things worked out, but so much didn’t. His moves for sponsorship mostly failed (Rich Energy and Uralkali) not sure how hard he pushed for big American corporations leaning into the whole American Team thing. Early on there was massive issues with the brakes and brake by wire systems…that they eventually fixed. They then finished 5th in constructors, only to have Ferrari engine get nerfed after their penalty. That killed any forward movement and car development, now the engine is good but everything else is behind because of that. Their inability to fix the tire performance is an engineering problem that presumably the new TP should have fixed by now. Ultimately Haas needs to spend more money, or find a partner who will kick in more…even then it will take at least 2 seasons to see any results.

      I think their goal now is not to be lapped every single race now, Gene might believe whatever he wants but it is possible at the end of 20024 will be up for sale in one of the most painful F1 for a team in all times, Gunter might have dodged that one out, it was going to be a really long year for him. I hope some team has what it takes to bring him back Gunter can lead any middle team easy. Even it might be a good fit for Alpine. Let's wait and see.

      The 'interesting' thing about Steiner was of no added value and for a huge part fake anyway. Steiner had been part of this team from the beginning, so this whole concept was for a huge part his idea. It basically was his team, paid for by Haas. So he's responsible for all the limitations. It's not very reasonable to all of a sudden want Haas to invest more money in a infrastructure (that they don't even own). Steiner said this was going to work.

    Lest we forget, Guenther was a key part of the transisition period of Red Bull between 2005 and 2009. That's what the die hard fans will remember him for. And then the DTS fans will remember for swearing a lot at Mazapig and Co.

      Yeah I'm not so sure I believe that, Newey never mentioned anyone by name but there was a number of people he had to root out to change the teams attitude. Gunther goes just when the team start to win consistently, you don't drop an asset unless it isn't an asset

    • @djoetma
      @djoetma Před 4 měsíci +1

      He really wasn't. He was there, he had his role, but definitely no key part. And when they got Newey, Steiner basically has zero responsibilities at the F1 team and went to work for the NASCAR team. So Steiner was basically at the F1 team in 2005 and in part 2006.

    I've heard a rumor suggesting that Gene might be considering a partnership with Andretti, as it appears that Andretti is facing difficulties securing the 11th spot on their own. Andretti already has a deal with GM as an engine supplier and they have rather deep pockets, Haas could potentially become the primary sponsor of the Andretti-Haas F1 team. To be frank, this doesn't seem entirely implausible. Haas has been struggling to make progress independently, while Andretti is seemingly facing exclusion from the current F1 teams. A collaboration might offer a solution for both parties.
    In this case Steiner is the embodiment of a nice guy finishing last...

    Nooo.....I can hear the Anakin howl thru' his new Darth Vader mask after realising that his Padme was no more.......lol. This is how I'm reacting to this news. What now, for next season's Drive To Survive? Who's going to be the one to add colour to the show?

    Haas will be up for sale within two years, just in time for that Audi bid perchance? If not maybe Andretti if possible? Who knows but it looks like F1 will likely lose another time within a few years.

    I think Haas will sell the team. He should be able to get like 500 mill for it and probably more. Cadillac might be a great candidate. Either that or he needs to do a massive investment into the team and facilities.

    If Günther isn't signed up by another team, Sky should try and sign him as a pundit. He'd make a great member of the commentary team

    Does it cost that much to invest in Haas from Gene when Haas is a manufacture process company. Surely he can knock out some discount for Haas F1. It just doesn't make sense to advertise Haas if Haas F1 doesn't get the latest and the best production facilities ?

    some of the comments here are absolutely gorgeous coming from individuals that have nothing to do with F1 beyond watching it every now and then... I love 99% bull dung on my days off as well so keep it coming why don't you

    Gene doesn’t care at all about winning. The team is an investment and advertising medium. He doesn’t seem to get that it’s harming his engineering brand.
