Amsterdam Nieuwendam

Natuurlijk zijn we er al een paar keer eerder geweest en heb ik al een filmpje daarvan gepubliceerd. Maar Nieuwendam, op en rond de Nieuwendammerdijk blijft fascineren. Er zijn telkens weer hoeken en gaten te zien, die we eerder hebben overgeslagen en niet kenden. Zoals het Nieuwendammer Molenpad. En van diverse kanten zijn er telkens mooie plaatjes te zien. Zeker in het vroege voorjaar. In deze versie ook de voormalige hulpsecretarie Noord van de Gemeente Amsterdam, waar in het verleden zoveel stellen uit Noord zijn getrouwd (ook wij in 1977). Verder een paar shots van de brutale halsbandparkieten, zo herkenbaar aan hun geschreeuw. Maar toch leuk om te zien. En natuurlijk ook ’t Sluisje. Misschien wel het beroemdste stukje van de Nieuwendammerdijk. De plek waar niet alleen het beroemde café zich bevindt, maar in de zomermaanden ook het veerpontje over het IJ aanlegt. Wij waren er op 18 maart 2024. Op een maandag, waarop het café natuurlijk gesloten was helaas.
Misschien aardig om ook nog te vermelden, dat ik in een ver verleden de krant 'Het Vrije Volk' hier mocht bezorgen. Ik was 14 of zo en fietste door weer en wind met de krant van het begin van de Nieuwendammerdijk tot het eind van de Durgerdammerdijk. Als ik er aan terugdenk. krijg ik het nog koud en pijn in mijn beenspieren.

There are nooks and crannies to be seen again and again that we have previously skipped and were not aware of. Such as the Nieuwendammer Molenpad. And there are always beautiful pictures to be seen from various sides. Especially in early spring. This version also includes the former North assistant secretary of the Municipality of Amsterdam, where so many couples from North were married in the past (including us in 1977). Furthermore, a few shots of the cheeky ring-necked parakeets, so recognizable by their screams. But still nice to see. And of course 't Sluisje. Perhaps the most famous part of the Nieuwendammerdijk. The place where not only the famous café is located, but also where the ferry across the IJ is located in the summer months. We were there on March 18, 2024. On a Monday, when the café was of course closed, unfortunately.
It might also be nice to mention that in the distant past I was allowed to deliver the newspaper 'Het Vrije Volk' here. I was 14 or so and cycled through wind and weather with the newspaper from the beginning of the Nieuwendammerdijk to the end of the Durgerdammerdijk. When I think back. I still get cold and pain in my leg muscles.
