    Used your video to help me switch out the window motor in my '86 C10. Much appreciated.

    Thanks brother, I have changed them before but forgot which roller to install first. 1983 C10 with 350 V8 & TH400 trans..Best truck I've ever owned. Cheap to fix and easy to work on. 👌👍👍

    I appreciate the video, I’m about ready to attempt the same procedure on my 87 GMC. This video has given me a great overview. Thanks

    Thank you for this great video. I missed watching the very end of the video where you hook it up and move it up or down to make the bolts line up! I figured it out the hard way.

    I remember the first time I pulled a window regulator out of a Chevy truck. I am glad I had all my fingers after that :)

    Looks great Jay. I was nervous when I replaced the ones on our 94. I will usually run a bolt through the two pieces if possible. I don't like working on anything that has a spring. lol

    Those square body trucks are getting popular. Keeping them fixed p might turn into some cash one day.

      @@farmboysgarage7595 I got the motor out without taking out the whole mechanism. But the speaker hole I accessed it through is custom - it's down where there carpet panel is beside the door vent. Not easy to get at but still glad I didn't have to unbolt everything.

    Great video; btw, how did you know the motor was the issue? Is the sound that was making mean the motor is bad? Not the glass getting stuck on the way down.

    Nice job. Looked like the window regulator was in a little bind but I guess it wasn't.

      Thanks Joe! I think it's a combo of a cheap motor and bad felt ;)

    • @joebrown1382
      @joebrown1382 Před 6 lety

      Yeh that felt gets stiff over time. Hey when you showed the video on regulator removal on a Silverado didn't also have a video on window motor removal & replace? Or was that some other channel?

    • @farmboysgarage7595
      @farmboysgarage7595  Před 6 lety

      Yes, I had to remove it to replace the window motor. I think I showed that too.

  • @chevybrat
    @chevybrat Před 5 lety

    Very nice presentation! What kind of lube did you use on the tracks and wheels? Also, did the window go up faster when you started the engine? Thanks

    • @farmboysgarage7595
      @farmboysgarage7595  Před 5 lety +1

      I used a silicone grease and yes, they do move faster with higher voltage.

  • @ryanhewgill
    @ryanhewgill Před 5 lety

    By the looks of it, I can get at those three mounting bolts through the speaker hole. I can get at two for sure but was hesitant to go at the third. You think if I pull the regulator out without removing the entire mechanism the spring will unload and the window will drop?
    Also, I can get at the plug without removing the regulator - I tried it on the new motor.

    • @farmboysgarage7595
      @farmboysgarage7595  Před 5 lety

      If you jam the window in place and leave the regulator bolted to the door, it will not move. That said, it's pretty easy getting the regulator out with the window in the up position.

    Hi! How did you remove the electric window roller thingys ? I am clueless 😣 I just picked up a 1971 Chevy that my dad gave me . We were suppose to fix it together but he passed away. Now I’m trying to do these little “simple things “ just to get started but I can’t figure out how to remove the square thing for the window. I have the door panel hanging from it . 😣 someone help 😣

    • @farmboysgarage7595
      @farmboysgarage7595  Před 4 lety

      Don’t think the pre-73 and 73-87 are the same. I don’t have any experience with pre-73 trucks. Sorry.

    Can you make a quick video on how to replace those gm square window switches.

    • @farmboysgarage7595
      @farmboysgarage7595  Před 5 lety +1

      They are pretty easy to change once you get the door panel off. Just be careful disconnecting the wiring harness from the switch. I use a flat-head screw driver to separate the wiring from the switch but don't touch the ground prong! (this is the long prong that sticks through the wiring harness) There are two small clips on the side of the switch that hold it in place in the door panel.

    I don't even have it out and you already missed a few steps like unbolt the interior latch and how to unplug the motor. Going to find a how to video that actually shows you how to.
