Hello everyone! Hope you all enjoyed another summary for an upcoming civ! There's tons of stuff still lined up for both AoE2 and AoE4, so be sure to subscribe for more AoE content on the way!
Why they have better and more mongol cav units than the actual mongol in game.... this is not right, even the civ seams great, but i cant stop complaining about how bad desing is the mongol army no horse archers no good heavy cavalry in late.
You make informative videos that are always gorgeous visually - thank you
Chinese philosopher Zhu Xi was one of the most important philosophers in China since Confucius. His inclusion in here shows that the team that is making Age of Empires IV is thinking outside the box. This could very well inspire those who make then civilization games to go beyond the usual civilizations.
Zhu Xi is one of the representative figures of Confucianism, and I don't understand why the production team added the Buddhist element of Shaolin monks to this civilization? It seems that they just casually found the name of a historical figure to name this new civilization, and do not understand what legacy this historical figure has left in history
@@linshitaolst4936 i think you right. And it was added just to show the fragmented China)) their dreams lmao
@@linshitaolst4936yeah, neo-confucianism was in fact negative towards Buddhism.
Now that we know a bit more about these variant civs, I think that what they're trying to do is to achieve a compromise between the AoE2 approach to designing civs without having to abandon the AoE4 philosophy on civ design, i.e, making them unique and historically coherent/grounded, and I'm all for that!
It kinda reminds me of the Generals in Command and conquer generals: Zero Hour
@@SamuraiHonorYeah for sure. And I'm always happy for more civs to choose from
I'm not sure about the historically coherent/grounded part, but I'm not against what they're doin!
Aoe 2???? It has nothing to do with that shit game. That game is just a copy paste on most civs. I mean why do mongols in aoe2 have a Japanese castle? Aoe 4 is just a far better game in all aspects. And yes I’ve played aoe2 for over 7 years
@@annaairahala9462It is not. In the slightest. 😂😓
The choice seems extremely funny when you realise that Zhu Xi himself was born during Song dynasty
Yea Zhu Xi legacy 500 years before he was born
Age of Noob always droppin' the best summaries in the game.
Age of Noob is the Spirit of the Law for Age of Empires IV. I'm all for it.
ZHUM BEE ZHU XI
Very excited for the civ. It seems to be a more well-rounded version of China. Economic bonuses are concentrated into the Imperial Official, while the Song villager bonus is gone. Early Palace Guard and the earlier dynasty units allow for earlier aggressive play, but the loss of the Clocktower and the other current Chinese landmarks reduce the variant’s lategame power. And the Dynasty system seems to be much more flexible compared to base China, as Tang opens up avenues for fast Castle and Song doesn’t seem nearly as necessary as it is for base China
Good take, I think OG China would still be a better choice in teamgames
As a Chinese, I believe that the production team's research on Chinese history is extremely lax. Zhu Xi was a famous Confucian master in the Song Dynasty, and he had no connection with Buddhist monks. However, his ideas did indeed influence the Mongolian rulers of the Yuan Dynasty and were promoted
I just realize you use "Malihua" orchestra version from Civ 6 as background music. Great video indeed!
Really appreciate the quality of your videos AoN! Keep it up!
Love your style of videos and content! Appreciate the short and concise (yet informative) videos! Thank you!
Love your videos! The civ6 soundtrack also fits right in!
If there's a Mongol civ variant, I would like it to be either the Golden Horde or the Timurids.
But this civ have new mongol army and are not mongol so sad for me🥲🥲🥲🥲 mongol only keshiks for unic cav unit.
We got the other Mongol civ variant at home, the Yuan dynasty of the Chinese civ
@thundernorse1098 In the Yuan Dynasty, except for the emperor's bloodline, all other elements were Chinese. The rulers of the Yuan Dynasty even believed that the people living on the Mongolian plateau were uncivilized barbarians
@@linshitaolst4936 the Yuan was much more militant than the previous imperial dynasties with the exception of maybe the Qin, and the Qin was in a civil war. the Yuan was adamant on expansion beyond the central plains. plus the element of a caste system where Han Chinese were placed at the bottom were hardly Chinese for obvious reasons.
Great video editing bruh. Keep up the good work, lots of love from Turkey.
I really wonder why they did not rename it « Celestial Empire » as It was proposed on the forum. It is historically accurate and we dont have the problem of having the mention of Zhu Xi during the Tang dynasty (he wasnt born)
Skyrim OST on the background is amazing. Thanks for the video!
I feel like Age of Noob is always dropping some more insights and recordings than the other content creators like Aussie Drone. Much appreciated, although I am interested if you have different NDAs?
Thanks for another great summary❤
this dlc seems huge.....new mechanics like fire are interesting.....maybe a video about new mechanics? i've seen an icon with a trabuchet on a boat, is there a new naval battles rework?
Love video and can’t wait to play!
it is really really hard for the system developer to "improve" or "nerf" the old chinese system, unlike other civils. As chinese civil has so many X factors, any little nerf or improvement would have great impact on it. The developer chooses an easy way to "advance" chinese rather than keep handache for the old system.
Why don't developers take a look at how the warlord era of the late Tang Dynasty destroyed the history of four nomadic civilizations and design a good Civi
My guess is they will have unique production building that can garrison officials and train dynasty units.
Really well made video
this reminds me of civ 6 civilizations, where there are multiple leaders for some civs
Age of Empires content + soundtrack from Skyrim? This is elite content!!!!
Love your vids! So well done and informative.
You always mention that you upscaled images. What tool do you use, to do that?
Thanks for everything!
Civ6 was so so imo, but the sound track is absolutely beautiful
great video quality. this is how aoe should be marketed
I see jian sword i started to like juicy legacy.
Where did you get that giant statue in the last 30s? Is it a personal mod?
Ehhhh idk I like most of the bonuses are Economy based since his impact is mostly Administrative. Given that though I honestly when I hear Zhuxi I expect a Economy/Tech/Monk civ. Since his impression is mostly on the Civil Service Exams I was glad to see buffed Officials. Shaolin monks is a bit of a stretch. I feel that part is better used for a Taoism and Buddhism path divide for Monastery. For the civ to play a bit more into monk play, but 2 different styles based on if they chose Taoism vs Buddhism.
Bro, are you using the small units mod? That you had showcased once?
It was all a dream, I used to read Word Up! magazine
Salt-n-Pepa and Heavy D up in the limousine
I’ve never been a fan of playing the Chinese cos I’m more of an aggressive player and the Chinese have always seemed like more of a solitaire civ, so maybe the Zhu Xi variant will be the change I need to finally start playing with Palace Guards and Nest of Bees
They're definitely more aggressive than the Chinese, but I'm not sure I'd put them as an overall aggressive civ compared to some others myself. :)
In history, China has evolved from a civilization centered around the Yellow River to a major country with an area of 9.6 million square kilometers. It is difficult to imagine why the production team is unwilling to make China more aggressive
@@linshitaolst4936 the only Dynasty that was aggressive was the Yuan and maybe the Qing. the rest were focused on China proper aka the central plains. they are famous for building walls and closing their doors. most of the territorial expansion happened from absorption of invaders and assimilation of allies.
Shaolin monk... the Wuxia Cultivation shenanigans begin... bet the monk can use the _7 flowing rivers_ punch that can destroy metal armor and meditating to gain invulnerability..
Shaolin is weird though for Zhu Xi, considering dude is known for Confucianism.
I wonder what would be the cool animation for the monk. Can he smack incoming arrows with a stick :) That would be pretty cool animation... But this might be more for the Japan ninja's...
Its a Chinese but more offensive then defensive 🎉🎉 nice video ❤❤
If the devs decide to put any kind of a Mongol variant civ in the game, something with Genghis Khan would be amazing. Imagine your khan being named "Genghis" with unique abilities... Wow.
Mongolia? A short-lived dynasty? Instantly crash?
I assume despite not being military, Houses and Villages are also not economic buildings
for the abbasid, eco wing gives reduce prices for economicaly buildings AND houses ( but houses are explicitly written out, so i guess zhuxi wont give a discount on houses)
Hi sir
How i can zoom in like you did at 1:38 ? Thank you sir
That flag is just amazing.
The Imperial guards mounting placement looks odd compared to the raiders... a little farther forward? do you think they might dismount?
“Oh h*ll no!”
- Random Spearmen getting terrified
I have a gut feeling that the monks are for destroying siege units, since they can endure pain, it means they can run around unit mobs to clear siege hiding behind units.
No. Its a religious unit. Meaning they get relics but can fight to some extent
@@profile1565 interesting
are you using a mod or something for unit scaling and if yes whats the name of it pls? because in your videos the size of units are realistic compare to buildings.
That's correct! It's the Realistic Overhaul mod, but it cannot be used in multiplayer. It also changes some attributes of units, so I don't recommend it for playing games tbh.
thanks@@AgeofNoob
My guess we might see English House system
Such as house of Hanover house of Stuart that kind of system
1 minute ago, fastest I’ve ever been to a video lol
I see why the byzantine cataphracts don't look like cataphracts now. LOL they seem to have reused alot of the base models from the imperial guard or raider. with the longer horse armor sigh. I was hoping to get a more cool lookin/accurate
cataphract. oh well
Are you using a mod that makes units smaller in your video?
Right? It looks much better this way
Indeed, the scale of units are downsized to make them look more realistic next to buildings for the footage.
@@AgeofNoob I wish this was how it looked base game. With a better zoom option or the inverse bigger buildings.
Already read it but i watsch the viedeo just for the great footage 😂😂
Have day / night cycle system ??
Nov 11 is very away 😢
I really like their flag. :)
再見 👋
Sounds like pure powercreep...
No way! Shaolin Monks? Liu Kang - Kung Lao - RZA - Method Man??
Civ6 music)
The monk bit was odd as Zhu Xi was not the biggest fan of buddhism
civ VI bgm
I just want to point out 😂 Zhu in Chinese is pronounced like "droo," not "roo"😅
We need more Chinese players in these games.
再見 See you next time.
hope we will have Hindu-India empire soon like Vijayanagara
Mate seems your not well.
Everything okay?
yeah, I felt that way too. hope all is good!
Lack of barbican of the sun lack o astronomical click tower and lack of the great wall gatehouse. Chinese has way better siege and defemse. While in armies zhu xi slightly better. Yet if zhu xi hasthe purotechnique increase 20% dange, that will be devasfating
more aggresive chinese rather than turtling up chinese, no barbican and great wall gate house lol
GIVE ME ZE GERMANS!!! nah but good vid, thanks for keeping the game alive
That sounds like a tech name, not a civ name. T_T
The Juicy Legacy 🍑
Zhu Xi (and Neoconfucianism in general was overtly anti-Buddhist. Why would they have Shaolin monks?
Common home polity... It would be bad karma for those monks to let their abbeys be razed by savage outsiders.
The philosopher himself had been not in the mood to actively suppress Buddhism.
It's not too late to rename these civs, Relic...
Yeah, the earlier Empire of Jade suggestion had mixed to negative reception. ZXL is here to stay, and it was about the application of Neo-Confucian teachings outside of the confined academe.
There's still a chance for a potential second Chinese variant focused on northern steppe nations: Khitans (Liao), Tanguts (Western Xia) and Jurchens (Jin), but retaining Han Chinese-led Ming for Imperial Age
Hopefully they take the criticism to heart and name variant civs something like the ‘Ayyubids’ in the future, instead of ‘Joan of Arc’ or ‘Zhu Xi’s Legacy’
‘Order of the Dragon’ is ok but how many battles did they fight?
Relic out here making new mechanic but also founding new civ despite the native told
@@diego2817 Iron Shirt Kung Fu, Iron Crotch Kung Fu
I guess you have never played Battle Realms within your lifespan.
What? Who? 朱熹?
(Sigh) Google is free. Use your brain.
The name is way too weird.
What about it is weird?
@@MrGatonegroish Zhuxi is a confucious scholar in Song dynasty, but the dynasty starts from Tang way earlier than his time and still called legacy. Besides, Shao lin is buddisum and the flag looks like taoism, so its a mixture of 3 different religions which has almost nothing to do with Zhuxi except using his name.
This name is way worse than Jade Empire.
Nice! Looking forward to using shaolin monks!
Pity about the dumb name, I actually think Jade Empire sounds better. The word juggling of Zhu Xi's legacy is just mad, even on the official website
Please translate your video my English is bad
I understand why he has to do this, but I hate how every one of these videos feels like AoN is just reading off the same webpage we have access to.
If OP spoke too much beyond what the dev has publicly posted/provided a month before The Sultans Ascend add-on launch date, then he might risk paying double for the add-on.
Show OP some respect.
@@royasturias1784as I said, I understand why he is forced to make the videos as they are, I just don't like it. I suppose I just wish AoE4 was handled like AoE2.
Both games are getting DLC soon, but with AoE2, creators have been able to show footage of the new civs in action and dig into how things work, including numbers. I'm sure there is still an NDA, but it seems to be permissive enough to allow creators to actually create rather than repeat what has already been said.
How AoE4 is being handled by Microsoft is constrictive and does no one any favors, most of all the content creators.
Waited so long for new civs now it’s a paid dlc 😂☠️
China will grow larger
We need the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, not Joan of Arc. Who are the Ayyubids going to fight against if not Jerusalem?!
…
I really do not like how those civs look way too powerful compared to their vanilla counterpart.
I hope that for example they have some crippling stuff in early, mid and late stage of the game.
Who would play the french, if jeanne d’arc gets you everything the french do, but with a hero leading the army ?
I can agree with the French. J d,arc being the obvious choice over the OG French. But every other Civ has been unique with an obvious difference in playstyles. Relic will definitely fine tune them making them fit better into the current CIV roster.
We need the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, not Joan of Arc. Who are the Ayyubids going to fight against if not Jerusalem?!
@@markmc5112 i would hope for instance that jeanne d’arc would be missing some techs or even the canon
you're just not seeing the negatives because the marketing stuff (and hence content creators) wont bring focus to that. beasty digs more into the -ives on his zhu xi vid. a telling example is that they do not get the barbican for defending pushes, nor do they get the badass tech building for endgame, no movement speed or unit health bonus etc, weaker seige equipment. theres a lot.
First
Grate video, awful civ name. I'm sure there will be a lot of people that is not going to buy this expansion just because of the names
lol if you are not buying because of that, then help you god
Awful name, especially when used in a sentence.
Eh I am not a fan of these variants! I rather have different civs
2 new civs plus 4 variant civs is infinitely better than getting just 2 new civs only
the most boring variant...
The idea of variant civilizations was a terrible one ...... has no value. What a silly idea.
Might possibly kill the game.
