I’ll be honest, the thing I love most about this show is Scratch’s development. He goes from a lazy ghost who doesn’t even entertain the possibility of having friends to a great leader who is even willing to help the ghost council, people who treated him poorly his entire afterlife, how to enjoy their afterlives. It’s really amazing to see plus it gives us more moments with the ghost council which I always love ❤

The thing I love about The Ghost and Molly McGee most is how the show can perfectly balance a wacky, unhinged sense of comedy- tons of squash and stretch, crazy scenarios, hilarious facial expressions- and a heartwarming, wholesome emotional core and it all blends together perfectly. Nothing ever feels disingenuous or too ham fisted or corny, it all works wonderfully to bring in great laughs and feel good moments.
You have episodes where Libby is going off the deep end from sleep deprivation, Scratch is extra cranky from not eating anything, and then Molly’s heart wrenching admission her insistence on seeing a comet was based in fear of not knowing where her and her friends would be in 50 years, plus a gorgeous sequence of actually seeing the comet, with a wonderful score.
Or the way character interactions have evolved- Scratch starts off wanting to get rid of the family he accidentally cursed himself to be with to being part of that family, how Scratch and Libby became friends that balance Molly and each other out incredibly well, or how Andrea started off as a one note bully in her first appearance to a somewhat self absorbed but harmless person to a great friend to Molly. And, of course, Ollie’s story arc in season 2 has been fun and seeing where they’ve taken his character has endeared me to him greatly- Scratch and Ollie need a solo episode like Scratch and Libby’ve gotten a few times.
As for favorite shows and how they evolved for me over time- I just kinda latch on to something and will pick a current favorite. All time favorite SERIES is Scooby Doo, but I’ve gone from SpongeBob to Pokémon to Amphibia to Phineas and Ferb to Ghost and Molly McGee, and so on. I can freely admit I have plenty of shows that would be in a favorites list, since I can tend of hyper-fixate on a show if it really catches my eye.
Molly McGee definitely is the current favorite and as it’s gone on, it’s gone from a show I watch and say “yeah, that show is fun. If you have a chance, it’s worth a look, but it’s also mostly episodic, so you can just check out a random episode or two” to “this show is really incredible and absolutely worthy of a watch.” Something about it just really clicked with me and they’ve really hit their stride, and the show jus something very special. Even when something new takes over as a favorite show, this will always be a show I’ll think of fondly and probably throw on an episode here and there if I’m bored and need a little enhappifying.

The part i love about TGAMM is that the background story is based on believable point of view like the one you mentions. How Molly’s parent actually dealt with current live situation and how Molly can still show weaknesses even in early episodes. They even show how Libby dealt with her father’s situation and how Andrea’s situation is not as easy and bright as you think and even she think far ahead. Even Ollie’s situation is understandable with how his parents keep printing their ideals and knowledge to him and wanted him to continued their ideals (which some parents kinda do). And of course i also love the music. I was surprised they make new music every episode (i kinda forgot that Phineas and Ferb kinda did that too, but somehow i like TGAMM music more). I like your explanation how you differentiate Phineas and Ferb and TGAMM this way since i never look at it that way until you explain it, thank you for that interesting facts 😁

Phineas and Ferb, was the first animated series that me and my mom ever watched and bonded over, and also found out that she has a soft spot for animation. We're both catching up on The Ghost and Molly McGee. She's on (All Night Plight) while I'm at (Like Father Like Libby) I'm waiting for her to catch up before watching anymore episodes

    Man, I love this show.
I felt like giving it a chance ever since it got announced, but I had no expectations. Then the intro came out and Molly said "I'm never ever EVER gonna be alone again." That gave me a clue. I knew Molly wasn't gonna be the careless happy go lucky kinda character and I was intrigued as if the show was gonna be able to deliver.
The end of the intro gave me another clue, when Scratch is with the tacos and sings "well, that's she", you can see how he has warmed up to Molly. It was more of a fear, I feared that the show would go with Scratch starting every episode acting annoyed to Molly just so that by the end of the episode he could go "nah, I actually like her" only for it to start all over again next episode. That wouldn't be bad per se, but it could've been boring.
Either way, I wanted to give it a shot. And so I did. And I'm so glad I did. I knew by episode 2 this show was gonna be special.
Molly reminded me of a part of me I had forgotten, this desire to make people around you happy, wanting to help just because you like helping, the craving of having peopke around you that you wanna be with.
I wish I had Molly's energy, I wish I had her social circle. And whenever I watch the show, I feel like I just might one day.

There were shows I really enjoyed but I don't think I really called any my absolute favorite show until TGAMM, I really like the characters and the bouncy, expressive animation, alongside the different sides of characters we get to see from time to time (Ex: Conspiracy Libby, Insane Molly, Confused Ollie, Confident Pete, Empathetic Scratch, etc.), I also just love how the paranormal part of the show isn't abandoned in the corner and that we're constantly reminded that Scratch is a ghost, it's also kinda interesting and scary to think about the fact that Molly has access to the ghost realm and how she can quite literally see ghosts, but the show is a perfect balance between that and the everyday life stuff they do which I genuinely really enjoy about it

In 2021 I was already watching TOH, Amphibia, and Gravity Falls. One day I was on Disney+ just exploring and then I noticed a new show called The Ghost And Molly McGee. I’ve always been into those kind of shows that involve stuff like magic, going to different worlds, and humans meeting nonhumans and stuff. The title of the show already got me hooked because, well, it’s about a girl and a ghost, that’s cool. So I watched the first episode and I was speechless..everything from the animation to characters was just beautiful and I immediately fell in love with the show and now today, I still love it and waiting for the promo for the final set of episodes for S2. I’m staying positive about the show getting a S3 and I will stay that way :))

Gonna be honest, I hadn't watched much cartoons when I was younger, only Phineas and Ferb & Gravity Falls. I did start to watch a fewer new cartoons like Big City Greens, Amphibia, and The Owl House. I like those shows a lot, but none of them really stuck out to me more than TGAMM. I watched through the full show a couple of months ago and I was in love immediately, with the art designs, the characters, the stories, and especially the music. I like how Molly as a character strives to keep everyone around her happy, and never backs down to defeat. Scratch is a great friend to Molly, and as someone has mentioned in the comments already; I like his character development throughout the show. It shows you that happiness and kindness is the key to helping our future!

the earliest show that i remember obsessing over was Pokémon. i was super into both the show and the trading cards for years. eventually i grew out of it as my interests changed and i think it was due in part to everyone elses interests changing so it forced me to grow out of it, kinda like with what you said about the Disney Channel. after Pokémon, i was bouncing around from show to show and there were a couple that i really liked and got pretty into like SpongeBob SquarePants and Johnny Test, but nothing like Pokémon.
then, around 5th grade, i was over at a friends house with a couple other people and they had access to their parent's Netflix account on their computer, and he showed us Family Guy for the first time. i still remember the very first episode we watched: Stew-Roids. the one where Peter injects Stewie with steroids and he gets super buff. i instantly fell in love with the show and wanted to keep watching more. at the time i didnt understand half the jokes because i was still too young and innocent. that show taught me a lot of things... lol. over the next 7 or 8 years i would become just as obsessed with Family guy as i was with Pokémon, if not more. i have watched every episode from season 12 to season 1 somewhere around 5 times at the bare minimum. at the high end it's probably more like 20 or even higher. i stopped really watching it at around seasons 15 and 16 which in my opinion were where the show started to fall off. i haven’t been really keeping up with the newest seasons either. the farthest i've gotten is season 20. i think between seasons 15 and 18 were its worst seasons. the newer ones did get a little better but i'm honestly kinda sick of it since it’s just the same formula over and over again.
around the time i stopped watching Family Guy is when i started to watch South Park. i already knew about South Park for a while but i never really watched many of the episodes. i thought the animation was really weird and that caused me not to get into it at first. i thought it was funny and i had seen a decent amount of episodes, but not that many. then the 2015 debates and 2016 presidential election happened, and South Park was all over it. i thought those whole two seasons were hilarious and a great portrayal on the ridiculousness that was unfolding in our country. it was also the first time South Park experimented with full seasonal serialization that actually carried over from the previous season to the next. i know a lot of people say that this is the reason they think South Park fell off but it's where i got on. after watching those two seasons over and over again until the new season came out so i could watch it over and over again, i decided it would be time for me to binge the entire show. this was after i just finished binging the entirety of The Simpsons (back when it had just 28-29 seasons) just for fun to see if i would like it. i did but it wasnt that great. it took me nearly a year to finish it btw which is why i put a range of seasons in my previous sentence. plus i was much more exited to watch South Park. i kept loving the show more and more with every episode i watched. binge waching the show also allowed me to see how the show adapted over time and it was unlike anything i had ever seen, especially from a show that had been going on for so long. they always stay current due to their process of making each episode ~6 days before they air it. they managed to stay relevant and consistent with great quality for over 25 years, and for that, Matt and Trey will forever have my respect. i honestly think they are comedic geniuses with how they are able to take serious current issues in the world and spin it in a way that's making fun of both sides for how ridiculous everyone is in a way that's tasteful and respectful, at least when it's warranted. they are not affraid to make fun of everything and everyone. i love how they continue to fight censorship by not giving in to demands to block or cut stuff out that they stand by and think is important. i genuinely really respect and look up to them and everyone who makes South Park a reality. i even want to thank Comedy Central for hosting it even though they've had some issues with censorship in the past. they're usually pretty good about it. i could go on and on about this show and what it means to me. there aren’t enough good things to say about it, other than it is still my favorite show of all time.
There have been others more recently like a lot of the Netflix adult cartoons like BoJack Horseman, Big Mouth, Inside Job, Disenchantment, Tuca & Bertie, F Is for Family, and Midnight Gospel. BoJack Horseman might be my second favorite show of all time just because of the realistic way it portrays mental health and relationships. same goes for Big Mouth, F Is for Family, and Tuca & Bertie.
I also can’t forget about Rick and Morty. that show is amazing and super influential. it got me through some rough times in high school.
then of course how could i leave a comment on your channel without mentioning my newest favorite genre of show: kids'/family cartoons, specifically Disney Channel and a little Comedy Central. I never really watched the Disney Channel as a kid. i mostly watched Nickelodeon and some Cartoon Network. during COVID i decided to use my Disney+ subscription to actually watch some things i've been meaning to watch like Gravity Falls. i had always seen on CZcams analysis videos on Rick and Morty that there was a connection between it and Gravity Falls because the creators knew each other. i decided to finally watch it, and i was not ready for how amazing it was going to be. i quickly dove into the fandom and watched as many videos as i could about it. i regret not watching it when it was at it's peak because of all the fun cyphers and puzzles everyone got to do together but it was still fun to learn about it all after the fact.
then, as i was watching theory videos and reaction videos to Gravity Falls, i kept seeing one specific show pop up from time to time in comments and in my recommended. little did i know that show would be the basis for my current obsession and the reason i have gotten this deep into my love for children's animation with one of the most wholesome, loving, and accepting communities out there. what show is it? you've probably guessed it by now because you've likely thought the same thing. The Owl House. this show... it's- i can’t even describe how much i love it and how amazing it and everyone who worked on it is. the way it handeled LGBT+ representation was fantastic. i've never seen a show do it so well, especially with a world specificly designed to have no bigotry towards it at all. it provided a whole new perspective for me as someone who is not a part of that community, especially in regards to they/them pronouns. but it's not just the LGBT+ rep they did amazing, it's the whole story, the character arcs, the world buildiung, the magic system that actually made sense and had necessary limits to what people could do, the hilarious comedy, the darker tones and the horror elements, the not being afraid to touch on mental health topics like depression, self loathing, guilt, suicidal ideation, CPTSD, and other trauma, and having many characters be neurodivergent coded. as someone with ADHD, i can relate a lot to Luz and Eda.
i just realized im rambling again so im gonna cut myself off before youtube does it for me

I remember seeing the first promo for Phineas and Ferb on my trip to Walt Disney World many years ago and the special Ferbruary event. Phineas and Ferb is still among one of my favourite Disney animated shows right next to Gravity Falls and I do consider both of them among my inspirations for my writing style. While The Ghost and Molly McGee may not be one of my favourite shows, I do agree that it is a very solid show and the way you described it sure does make it sound special. I hope to one day make it into the animation business myself. I got a few ideas for my own movies and TV shows that I think you might really appreciate. BTW, I heard the reason why they changed the name for TGAMM was to give it a title that better represents the show, which got me a bit bummed out. Sure I get why they changed the name, but The Curse of Molly McGee has a bit more of a ring to it.

I had a pretty similar experience with my two favorite shows, Hannah Montana and Liv and Maddie. In the latter, like you, I found myself moreso relating to the characters and situations they were in.
My favorite thing about TGAMM is definitely the animation style. Every character is SO expressive in a way that I feel like few Disney shows are these days (I love Amphibia, Owl House, etc., but it's still refreshing to see a unique style like this). The only show I can really liken it to is Wander Over Yonder. I also appreciate its ability to have an overarching plot while still having some fun filler episodes, something I think Liv and Maddie was also good at.

Hey, if that’s what you like, I’m not gonna argue with you. I think there’s a balance. Like, I really didn’t like Jane getting cancer in Thor Love and Thunder because it just completely brought down everything.
But to me, what makes everything in Molly McGee work so well is that it balances things out beautifully. You’ve got paranormal shenanigans and slice of life stories, and it’s usually very fun and lighthearted. So when they do episodes with heavier topics like financial insecurity, Molly not feeling Thai enough for her own family, or Libby’s dad just not caring, it hits so much harder. The show is very mature in the way it handles these topics. In the case of the financial insecurity, when the McGees were in trouble, everyone pitched in to help them get their house back. Libby’s dad may not care, but she’s got an AMAZING mom. And 100% Molly McGee might be one of the best episodes of the entire series.
Even stuff like Scratch suppressing the memories of his past is some pretty real stuff. All of the real-world kinds of problems the characters deal with helps the show feel grounded and so much more relatable to me. At the same time, it’s so uplifting because everything is handled with kindness, empathy and optimism.

@@Joe-rz3fd Well, that’s actually not what happened. Amphibia was based on Matt Braly’s trips to Thailand from his childhood, so naturally it made sense that they cast Brenda Song to play Anne. But with Molly McGee, Bill and Bob had planned to base Molly on whoever they cast to play her. So when they decided on Ashly Burch, who is half-Thai and half-Irish, that’s what they went with for Molly. And it worked out because the spiritual elements of Thai culture fit very nicely with the show’s premise.

Maksudku, aku serius, jika agan-agan nggak mau nonton The Owl House, lebih baik nonton Eckhart the Mouse sebagai penggantinya, walaupun jadul.
