  • Once again, some improvement definitely noted, but something is still not right ...

G'day Paul, I'm no expert but sounds like chain whip, distance from gear box sprocket too end of rear sprocket may be too long with out some form of tensioner, maybe 🤔, all in all the bikes running sweet, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.

I wonder if the primary chain has worn unevenly and being an early non tensioner type is whipping and skipping? The rear chain alignment has improved things though. Off with the primary cover again I reckon. If it's any consolation, it's making great viewing for us all.

Hi Paul, bit of a long shot this, but, could the problem be the drive chain is worn on the pins to a taper due to running out of line for so long? if you have another chain you could try this may kill or cure the problem. if nothing else it will rule out another possibility.

That speedo knows how to keep secrets. That said you have considerable fortitude to struggle on with this and make it into a rideable bike.

Well in reality when mixing mismatched engine to frame I would hazard to guess that you can't expect too much.

If I was a betting man, which I'm not, I might put 10p each way on the primary chain but this is very puzzling.

Rev related in 1st, and then only if it is being caned. If it was torque trouble like a poor cush drive it would be worse in the higher gears. Is it possibly the beginning of an engagement problem yet again. Peaky or what?! This bike behaves as if it has T90 components in the engine. It does not behave as one would expect of a bog wheel.
