looks to me that penny is stressed out because she is being locked away from the family a lot! Both places where she is chewing is where she is locked up!
Ashlynne Giroux Labs need a lot of attention from their master/family and if they don't get attention they dig or chew or be destructive to get attention. So you're probably right. :)
Ashlynne Giroux I actually agree. We have raised dogs our whole lives. My parents, grandparents. My grandfather trains dogs. She is locked away a lot or kept out of certain areas where her family is. This will definitely cause the chewing!
Yep! We have a dachshund that chews his gate or his crate when he is kept separate from the family like when we go out for the day. I feel like thats common sense but they are new pet owners so....

A lot they do with her isn't the best way to deal with a dog I feel like their intentions are in the right place but they don't really have any idea of how to have a dog 😕 I love Ellie and Jarred don't get me wrong but yeh they defiantly need to get some tips with dog care and training etc.
You guys need to get tempered glass screens for your phones! They just go over your current screen and the tempered glass screens crack in place of the original screen. You can replace the tempered screen whenever they crack! You can actually get them at the dollar tree!! Best dollar I've ever spent!!
Alaina Wood agreed. Plus a phone case. I have a tempter glass screen on my phone (which only has a crack on it because my toddler thought biting it would be a good idea). And every since getting an iPhone I've used a Speck case, which has always worked beautifully for my phones. I've never broken my phone when using a Speck case.
false sense of security unfortunately in my case; I dropped my phone and it had a massive crack and a smashed screen I peeled off the protector to reveal that the protector didn't have a single scratch but underneath was destroyed!
Alaina Wood I have a piece of removable plastic on my phone(a screen saver) and it has worked wonders.. I've had my current phone since 2015 and I have dropped it so many times and I have never har my screen crack!
So that's what you need... Not a case or tempered glass screens...

No, it's an android, but the most common damage to a phone is the screen cracking and that piece of plastic protects the screen...
My mom has the same phone ans she's had it for about two months less then I have and she doesn't have the screen protector and her screen is full of cracks....

Get lifeproof case, they are amazing and waterproof. Put lime juice as a deterrent, dogs don't like the taste and it won't hurt them.

She just needs to get a case. I never see her phone with a case. These iphones are so fragile.

It was a minor quake. I had to look it up only because I'm a skeptic. I had a friend who claims to have tornadoes every weekend, so I check radar religiously. I hope that a 5.4 didn't cause much damage for you however.
Gina McKay 5.4 isn't minor in an area that doesn't have strict building codes.

i was just going to comment on this! im surprised that they didn't have the fence further into the ground. labs are notorious for digging holes and getting out. maybe their landscapper will put some big rocks along it so she cant dig under
Don't worry about Penny! All dogs go through teething and I am sure she will improve soon! When Calvin wrapped his arms around Ellie and said "mommy" it melts my heart 💙 your guys are so sweet and cute!

Our puppy has gone through various chew phases. His first was wood as well. He also chewed the corner of our wall! Luckily it was easy to patch. Then he moved on to the corner of rugs and also throw pillows. He also digs! That puppy energy and those urges are hard!!

I don't crate my dog anymore but from what I've read/been told the crate should really be in the same room as where the family is, like out in the kitchen/living area. It helps with their anxiety. Also, antlers really helped my puppy when he was teething between 6-8 months old :)
I love how the fence turned out and you're property line looks HUGE! Can't wait to see the finished product of the yard this spring.

I love your channel and have watched your channel grow since the video where you found out you were conceiving Jackson I have watched BOTH of your kids grow and am happy to be apart of your life! god bless. I love the new and miss the old and some of the old is still here but I will never miss a day of your videos and that is a promise i intend to keep.
If you put chilli oil or chilli flakes in water in a spray bottle and spray it on the places she's chewing she will stop! Same with the kids toys or clothes if she's pinching them! It won't damage anything. It's a puppy thing. My family foster dogs and it's what we've been told to do by several vets! It doesn't hurt them at all they just won't like it. Love you guys! You have the most beautiful little family ❤️

Every dog has their "thing" and you're right, it's just learning the best way to correct it and give them positive reinforcement for doing good 😊❤️
Puppies chewing on things is a way of life, sometimes until they are three years old! I have a lab, and he's 4. He didn't really get out of the chewing stage until 3. You've got to be super diligent to keep Penny away from things she can destroy and watch her constantly. You're lucky that you have a job where you can be with her a lot! It's unfortunate that Penny has to spend time in the mud room or outside when the whole family is there, that's probably why she's chewing on things. Dogs are pack animals and want to be with you. If you go somewhere and can't take her, she needs to be in her crate with a chew toy or a kong stuffed with peanut butter.
Unfortunately so many dogs are given up because of chewing. It''s not the dog's fault! That's just an instinct and they don't know right from wrong. Training her not to chew is fine, but when you're not there to give the training signals she'll most likely still do it until she grows out of it. I encourage you to treat her more like part of the family.
My dog as a pup used to eat the walls. He would scratch his teeth on the wall and leave huge holes . After a while he finally stopped.i think it's just a thing that pups do to get attention or if their bored . Hope this helps ❤️
Make sure to watch her with the fence. All of my labs have climbed the fence and we had to go catch them. Their yard was an acre so they has plenty of space they just liked to escape. Since she's a puppy still she could be teething but her chewing may also be because she wants to see her people. the marks seem to be in places she sees you leave through when she's left alone.
I can;t believe how big Penny is getting! She is such a beautiful dog ❤
Our Great Dane puppies would chew the wood siding of the house. It was definitely a teething thing. We would freeze chicken broth in ice cube trays or peanut butter inside the Kong toys! Keeps them distracted and easy to clean up! We also had to fill and sand those areas!
Ellie you should get a plexiglass screen protector! If you drop it the screen protector breaks and not the actual screen! It's a lifesaver!!

My sister's dog did this to door frames but then they found out that she LOVED to eat the putty used to repair it! I hope Penny moves on to better things, I'm sure Summer running and playing outside will help.

that's too funny. in the middle of the night, I never remember anything I say. and Tim NEVER remembers rolling over on top of me and me needing to push him off lol
My husband and I have a black lab at home, and when he was a puppy he liked to chew things as well.. its a lab thing! They are very mouthy (haha). But there is a special spray you can get. All you do is spray it on the areas that the pup likes to chew, it doesn't damage anything.. but tastes really bad to your pup and helps to prevent the chewing. I can't remember what its called, but I'm sure your local pet store could point you in the right direction :)

With Penny's nibbling there is a spray called Bitter Apple that deters them from biting the item you spray I used it and it helped when my dog was younger she is 3 now

Hey Jared! My dogs used to chew on our wood coffee table! And what worked for us what buying a spray that tastes bad to dogs and smells bad to them (not to humans) and it prevented them from chewing! hope it helps!

Seeing Penny running up and down the fence with the dog next door, reminds me of my dog Rex (an English Setter) who ran up and down the fence and over time we had ruts in our yard.

Ellie, you should get a tempered glass screen protector for your phone! They are amazing. 9 times out of 10 when things happen to your phone (like toddlers throwing them), the screen protector breaks, not your actual screen. Plus, they have cheap options on amazon!! You guys gotta try the Otterbox case (defender series) for your phones! All of the phones in our house have one. You can literally throw it across the room and it won't break!
There is a bitter spray you can spray where she's chewing to discourage because of the taste. It's no harmful at all, we used it when our puppy was teething and chewing on corners when we weren't paying attention. You guys are doing a great job and definitely can't keep your eye on her 100% of the time.

Family biking for the win!! :) We actually got a cargo bike last summer so the kids and I could go biking with my husband. It's a Madsen bike. I ride it and the back has a bucket with 4 seats and seatbelts for the kids :) It's my favorite thing! I'm in Atlantic Canada so we still have tons of snow but I still pulled it out a few days ago so we could go for a spin :)

I had the same problem with my dog when he was younger and he couldn't stop biting the dinning table so I just put a little bit of soft chili where he was biting and he stoped immediately! Hope it helps to stop Penny chewing the wood 😊
