Those barracks were built right after Desert Storm, I was stationed there in 365th Trans. My old building is blockaded as an asbestos hazard, but was safe enough to live in 25 years ago, go figure. I hate to say it, but I miss that place had a good time there, met a lot of screwups, and a few good mentors.
Good old Fort McClellan!
+S Wyatt I thought that was McClellan. It was part of the base closure. Glad I didn't go there.
Fort McClellan. I lived in one of those buildings during basic training 24/25 years ago. You are safe where you are at; however, the reason that area hasn't been turned over to the local community is that there was extensive training with Chemical Weapons by the Chemical Corps - think WWI era when there wasn't much in the way of caution or rules. Don't wander off the asphalt as there were even areas next to the roads that were marked as hazardous for chem when the post was active. Thing is no one really knows how much crap is just in the wood line off the road. Locals will tell you that it's safe, but then again they live in one of the most PCB ridden communities in America. PCBs were invented in the town next to the post.
I googled Fort McClellan and this popped up czcams.com/video/8nznng4y-DY/video.html
Someone should buy these and turn them into creepy airsoft/ paintball battle grounds.
you are a Genius
You sir, are the greatest Genius in the world!
And further destroy the history & heritage of these places? Great Idea! (sarcasm) Here is a better idea: Buy these places, restore them to their former glory & turn them into historical attractions & memorials to honor those who served at these sites & preserve these pieces of our history & heritage.
Or probably they aren't worth it to restore, or won't pull in any visitors. The circle of R's: Restore, reuse, recycle. (There are some more, but they really don't apply.) Si if you can't restore, reuse is the second best.
justfakeit888 I understand what your saying. But as a Military History Buff & Army Veteran it saddens me to see sites of military history & heritage left to rot & I believe it would better to save what's left rather than further destroy it in a barrage of paintballs/airsoft pellets. Whatever happens to this place as long as they leave something that honors the site's military past that would be fine by me.
Good stuff. Being a veteran it kind of saddens me to see military bases abandoned and left to decay like this. Any ex-military folks would probably agree that we spent hours and hours shining those floors and cleaning the place spotless. Thanks for turning me on to Decay/Way. Subscribed.
Looks like they could use a good field day.
Ft. McClellan, Alabama...the first buildings shown were the old WAC/Chemical barracks, then the second one with the murals were the MP barracks. Ft. McClellan was home to both the Army Chemical Corps & Military Police. Marines were sent there for their MOS schooling
Great duo Or trio i should say. Love the military buildings. Good comedy along with an awesome place! Great video!
Why would an extremely cute girl go into an extremely creepy building with two extremely weird guys?
Because we are all friends... that is why. -Burt
maybe because she is not a stuck up bitch labeling people weird for no reason
Bert Lovejoy ^^^^^ what he said
there are obviously gay, so the girl's quite safe.
Mus1ims rTreacherous you must have good gaydar because i didn't see anything in the video that shows them as gay, do you think maybe you're just hoping they are? lol :)
Really great video Adam, I love the humour in this one, you bounce off each other really well.
oh my god! it's the Real Life Trevor Phillips!
hha so true start trying to kill micheal
You guys are amazing! I really enjoyed this video!
Parts of that place would make an awesome set for The Walking Dead.
Not gonna lie that hand poping out the mail box scared the shit out of me... would have emptied a mag in it while running backwards
I'm glad people like you do this type of thing, real nice for people like me who don't like to see the light of day, or leave the house ^_^
Adam keep up the great work! I've been a long time fan. After work I get on my laptop and laugh my ass off at your hilarious adventures. Thank you!
One of you best so far nice.
Adam please consider to do more visits to places with random people, it makes you look so much happier! :) Keep up the great work, as always! If there is anything I could ever do for you maybe, please let me know.. Regards, Marcel
That mail box hand was mental.
I wouldn't mind owning the Fallout Shelter marker at 7:17
lol :)
I am the homeless dude. Please respect my home.
I already watch 'decay is headed your way'. I am glad you could get together and explore!
That's the old MP school for the Army and Marines.. 795 MP BN is still alive and well now in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.. This was the old post.. Junkyard Dogs are still around too.. - SSMOKED (F 795 MP BN)
This really looks like Ft. McClellan AL the former home of the MP school and USMC chemical warfare training site. A Co. 795 MP was the opposite quad of mine in 1988.
Thanks for the memories of my last duty station Fort McClellan (Anniston) Alabama. I was an instructor there from May 88 thru May91 when I retired. The Department of the Army was suppost to turn the property over the the Prison System when this side of the post finally closed down. The other side of Ft McClellan is still in use by Homeland Security and Alabama National Guard.
Crazy miscellaneous Cold War era bases, wonder how many are out there like that.
the question is how many the army does not know they have?
Probably alot. Small installations like that are all over the place.
That was so cool to see that, and teamed up with them! You rock!
I can guarantee it was not a Marine Corps base. The units painted on the floor etc were Army units so it was either an Army or Air Force Base. The USMC painted on the concrete you showed was the building to an old Marine Corps reserve unit that was stationed there.
It's the old Ft. McLellan, in Alabama.
Many of the units (such as 795 MP Bn) were HQ'd there before closure in 1999.
Definitely Ft. McLellan. Outside of Anniston, AL. I did my OSUT there in 79-80 for US Army Military Police. Barracks were like new at the time, I can't believe that it's decayed so badly.
good stuff . And ,finally ,@ 6:05 ,you had water coming out of a tap ,at one of your searchs.i mean ,in EVERY vid youcan be seen checking for water ,and now ,presto ! ,water . : )
Did anyone else see the eyes at 4:59?
oh my god.
its just reflecting metal
or it was a cat.. Animals have the ability to get into abandoned buildings easily
Is this Fort Mac? If so that was one of the most important Military bases on the east coast at one time. There was also new construction going on at that base up to at least a year before that main base closed.
Even with a fresh coat of paint Decay keeps on ROCKIN!
Big place! It was only a matter of time before Adam ran into some stranger!
Where was this? Adam the woo is the man! I've never heard of decay is heading your way but I will check yall out :)
I'm surprised you guys don't wear masks when you're inside the buildings.
or gloves
or underwear...Wait is that only me?
That's only you my friend. Haha colefrick
DIHYW usually does, in most of their videos you can hear them breathing through the masks.
You two are hilarious! Loved this video!
haha awesome video. You two make a good combo
Wicked video, that complex looks huge
if you see a guy in camo clothing please bump into him to let him know that its working
Another great video Adam! I just subscribed to Sarah's channel she is gorgeous and I also subscribed to the Decay is headed your way channel.
I seen some walkers in there.
yeah i would deffinitely worry about squatters like the one you guys ran into, i've heard of people getting into violent encounters while exploring places. concealed carry for the win
Awesome video Adam
Hilarious you guys and gal!!! Also got the Tommy Boy reference lol.
That's fort McLellan Anniston Alabama, I explored those buildings two years ago
This place is actually pretty untouched compared to most places; I like it :)
Do you think there might be even just a little asbestos in any of the many abandoned spots you visit?
Otherwise, this particular location would be a great paintball field.
Love this video! :-)
Hey Adam,, Just wondering.. Did that person that ran away from you guys ever come back n talk or did that person like just stay hidden or what? Seems pretty damn fishy they ran like hell when they heard/saw you guys..
Yet again another wonderful vid from #AdamtheWoo.
Where was this located? Also have you considered taking on more people? If so I would be extremely interested.
Ft. McClellan, you will want to check this out "Health Registry Act, learning about health issues stemming from toxic exposure at Ft. McClellan and helping to support HR 411."
Adam found water. That is one big place.
Next time bring chalk just incase you need to mark your way out.
Tom, myself and my brother paranormal guy are still waiting patiently for our DIHYW shirts.... we would love to have em. - JASON
I just found my Zombie apocalypse Shelter, problem is I dont think I will be the only one to claim it.
Nice episode, real funny:)
Semper Fi for the marine base exploration
Woo found one of my favorite Georgia neighbors.... Tom Collins
GET ON WITH IT!!!
^5
ADAM YOU CRACK ME UP
Sarah is a very brave young lady.
My house has a fallout shelter (long story), and I have the exact same sign in the video. It says "Do not reproduce only for use of the Department of Defense". So basically you need the DoD to approve the use of the sign but my grandpa bought the sign off ebay because we have a shelter.
I attended Military Police School, Hostage Negotiation, ASAC 4-96, and a couple of more courses there. The golf course was a good one. Really enjoyed my time there!
Jarhead, I notice that you didn't say Basic Training.
?? I attended Recruit training at MCRD San Diego....What does that have to do with McClellan?
jimmymac63 Just kidding dude, McClellan was an Army TRADOC post and where I went to basic and AIT. You didn't mention basic in that list so I surmised that you must have been one of the few and the proud.
Oh, lol :)
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY HEARD ADAM
I went in an decommissioned military bunker, lots of asbestos warning signs every where. even though the place was abandoned they still patrolled the area in military vehicles.
Good to see these guys don't have a super egotistical (and loud) intro like urban explorers.
This would be a great filming location if they were to do Dean Koontz Fear Nothing. Just how I imagined fort Wyvern would look.
That building at 12:30 is an old basic training building. It looks exactly like the ones on Lackland AFB.
LOL - wasn't expecting the hand to come out of the mailbox , haha
Reminds me of some of the buildings on Mare Island (Vallejo, CA - Former Navy Base)..
Wow. Those barracks looked just like the ones I stayed in at Ft. Bliss and Ft. Campbell.
there at ft.McClellan it was shut down in 1999 by the EPA. it is a super fund site.
I like the pull tab.
What is the zoom and m pix of your cam corder?
These are the people that always die in movies.
Lol i was like dude this is going to be cool, then noticed its from Adamthewoo meaning you know the guys at Utmost Studios AKA my Cousins haha.
Footprints at the and were hilarious
Well hell. I make tee shirts. what do you want? PS. Just discovered your channel tonight. Cool stuff. I love abandoned places. As a matter of fact I been watching your vids all night and didnt get much work done.
Did you get your shirt Adam ?
Who was hiding away in there ?
it would be freaky when she went through that fence and something was waiting on top of that stairs and she has a hard time coming back out.
Nice place to hold up in in case a fall out.
12:05 reminds me of the university courtyard in The Last of Us.
don't blame the dude staying in there. hell, if you seen the house I'm living in, I'd be upgrading to squat in some of these massive abandoned places. Plus I love the idea of having a massive floor all to myself. if this was in australia they'd find another use for those buildings, even if it was another department of government altogether. here they are with a sign about wasting electricity, and they've wasted whole massive bases. i remember an episodeof mythbusters (drunk guy directing a blind man driving) where they went around a base with street after street of abandoned houses (for the families on the base).
If you read "Toxic Vets - The Poisonous Legacy of Ft. McClellan," you will begin to see why this whole base is abandoned and why no one should be squatting there. Frankly, I'm surprised these three folks decided to go tromping around there, especially the young lady. This place was used for storing all kinds of toxic nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons. Eventually it became so contaminated that the EPA shut it down and declared it a Superfund site.
never knew that. if they store nasty stuff I wouldn't have expected them to spill it and contaminate the place. but then again accidents do happen and stuff gets spilled.
well ,is this Ft.Meclellan or is it an old Marine Base ? it cant be both .Army and Marines share a lot of bases as I was on some of them .but its either Ft.Meclellan or its an old Marine Base .
2 legends meet
Right on! -Burt
check out "the road to nowhere". It links…or rather was supposed to link fontana, NC with bryson city. i'm glad i found this.
amazing!
Thumbs up for the special reaction guy.
I know I watched this video late and have to say it was very cool
haha that guys funny..how did he managed to get a cute girl to follow him and film him lol..adam you were so funny too when you knocked on door and said house keeping i just starting laughing so hard because my crazy hubby does this all the time when we are off and its a closed door.that was to funny.loved it.lol
I totally expected "walkers" to jump out at them
Adam.. I watch alot of your videos.. but for some reason this one reminded me of the movie chernobyl diaries..
I have watched too many horror movies to go in places like this.
adam reminds me of will ferral just because of his sense of humor and he sort of sounds like him too
makes me think of DayZ Standalone
Please do a video on your van life
If you would've ran across a dead body just laying in one of the facilities, what would you have done?
At 12:50 what you are looking at is a stairwell to correctional custody or "base prison". At Keesler AFB they had the stairwell painted with words just like this one so that the convicted would memorize the creed. Another vid showed a basement before this with a mesh window which was more than likely CATM. That's where they stored weapons and ammo.
No your not, what you are.lookimg at.is a USMC barracks stairwell. Very common. For us to paint these words on our stairwells especially places where you are training for your MOS
+alan stepp remember, regular MOS school barracks would look like ccu/brig to non Marines.
true lol
Looks like the building from Grave Encounters.... Creepy.
ha ha its Murdoch from the A Team
Sarah is very cute. Just subscribed and loving the exploration.
+cmdfarsight He (Decay)seems a good laugh
That decay already visited Detroit!!!!!!!!
haha that last joke cracked me up XD
