  • As the midsize sedan segment’s only European entry, the Volkswagen Passat is among the most enjoyable drivers in the class. Even when not on the Autobahn, the Passat’s confidence-inspiring driving dynamics make for a satisfying and relaxing driving experience.

      This car standout because of its simplistic clean design. Its very classy and has a mature feel to it. I hate cars with too much lines, curves and over-design. Over-design makes car looks cheap, common and complicated.

    People who said the Passat is boring have never driven one. I own a white passat with beige leather interior, and I love how classy and premium it looks. I got so many compliments and cars following me just for a quick peak of it. I put 75k kilometres on it and it’s performance is simply amazing, no issues at all. People who compare it with Camry or Accord just have no taste, that’s why they should stick to their sport car wanna be, cheap looking ricer cars

      tk4227 I've only had mine a few moths and now have 6,700 miles. So far I haven't had any issues. I suggest educating yourself on how to care for a turbo charged engine and use shell V power if you can.. with a little love, this car is for sure to give many years of dependability. The only folks that have issues with VW are the ones that don't know how to take care of 1 (imo).

    @65strad Před 2 lety +1

    I own a PZEV 2014 SE w/roof 1.8 EA888 Gen 3 bought new. Currently 132,427 miles.
    I've owned 7 VW's. Rabbits, Jettas, Golf's, a 2011 base GTI with DSG and this Passat.
    Also owned Toyota Celica, Ford Windstar, Ford Explorere AWD, Honda Pilot.
    My Chattanooga Tennessee built Passat with over 132K miles has:
    ZERO SQUEAKS and RATTLES
    ZERO mechanical problems
    Original plugs and coils
    Trips with cruise control over 40MPG.
    Replaced rear rotors and pads at 110K
    Amazingly, this vehicle has been the least problems of ANY car I've owned, and I'm 64 years old.
    Oil changes (full synthetic) at VW 7,500 intervals
    Trans so. (gasket, screen, fluid) 50K (did twice) at VW
    Brake fluid changes every two years at VW
    Coolant change at 60K (did twice) at VW
    Note:
    Every oil change I use BG EPR and BG MOA
    Also use BG 44K fuel additive when oil change interval is performed.
    On second set of tires. Original Continentals went about 65K, PIRELLI P7 Cinturano's have about another 5K left.
    I had a recall for rear main seal DONE
    Recall Takata airbag DONE
    Recall headlight adjustment DONE
    I always have the Master Tech from Poland perform all the work including my alignments. He's a conscientious pro..
    To say that I'm satisfied with my 2014 PASSAT is a vast understatement. maybe I'm lucky because I maintain my cars so well. I've maintained ALL of my cars well, and NONE have given me the bulletproof service of this Passat, and it's PAID OFF!

      We will see, the Passat here is due for the MQB, however, not sure if it'll be able to complete against the piece of shit Camry in terms of price range

    • @cameronburke8002
      @cameronburke8002 Před 5 lety

      @@denihodzic an R line Passat here is worth around €40,000 versus the XSE Camry worth about $35,000. But a European R line doesn't offer a V6 just a 2.0 TSI and i think there's a 2.0 TDI. If VW wants to beat toyota in America I'd suggest introducing the Skoda Superb, Octavia, Rapid and Kodiaq with more powerful engines.

    This is a car where the color has a real impact on its looks. I was at a VW dealer a few days ago - they had a variety of colors (white, metallic beige, blue...) where the car looked ho-hum. Black on black, though, was another story! Very much like a Mercedes, especially with the lighting package.

    In Canada where I live, the Passat is very good and has the best fuel efficiency with its traditional 1.8 4-cylinder turbo. At only 1500 RPM , the Passat puts out WAY more power than them the other competitors like the Honda accord, Nissian Altima,and Toyota camry.VW did great with the 1.8 turbo.

      @marco1173 Před 8 lety +4

      Are Passat's great for long drives? I commute 50 miles daily because I work at a gas plant located outside my city. I have a Mitsubishi Lancer that can do the job but the ride is not comfortable with all the cabin noise (mostly wind) and it's also not the fastest.

    • @markrakov6009
      @markrakov6009 Před 7 lety +6

      yes, the passat is in fact, ment for long car trips with its fuel economic engine. its a great car , the cabin noise is very quite and stable. Passat would be perfect for you, just make sure idf your buying one, get extended warranty on it, so if anything happens, you can fix your passat with that warranty.

    I bought one after looking at the competitors. This sedan is great with the R-Line which is the more sporty exciting version. I really appreciate the German engineering. The driving is so smooth and it has quite a bit of pickup and power. The styling for the Passat is top knotch. It's not silly kid flashy but quite refined, even an expensive look. I'm impressed with the way it handles the road, too and that's so German! The feel is very nice.

    I just moved up from a 2008 Mazda 3s Sport to an SE w/Technology. I friggin love it so far! I do have the same complaint (@~1:00) about the very touchy brakes and I am relieved that the 98K mile car I just bought didn't need new shocks and struts as I did notice the front bounce over big bumps as well. With the brakes, you actually need to ease off the petal ever so slightly the closer to a full stop you get if you want a nice smooth stop. Probably takes some getting used to is all.

      You simply have no taste, the passat has the classy and premium look that will age so well, camry can never compete

    Does anyone know if VW is going to bring back a diesel into the Passat?

    • @toyotaprius79

      The only way VW could sell a TDI again if its engines can meet and be approved by EPA regulations. That's if they actually do bring their illegal engines into compliance.
      Unfortunately for some, fans mainly, VW probably won't reintroduce a now controversial product back to a market that now considers diesels as even more niche class than it was before.

    No wonder people are mocking the Passat in US, It's rear looks bad there, and the front is less attracting than the EU one.
    Bring the EU version to US!!!

    VWs look boring in general. The Jetta compared to all of its other competitors looks SO outdated. Even the Audis look boring but Audi somehow makes them attractive with the LED lights in the headlights and tail lights, even tho the cars themselves look boring lol

      Not too far back, these were offered with a manual transmission on certain trims. I'm guessing that the sales numbers were fairly low, however.

    3 yrs have past and they still don't bring the european Passat version of the LCD Gage Cluster to the American version of the Passat. WTF! For a lot of people this has been a deal breaker as the American version looks so outdated and cheap.
