Lived in Japan and got to know a bit of that gear-head circle. Nothing authentic about how the culture is depicted here. It gets 5% of the overall vibe at most. This is a highly americanized and very misguided view of what it is like.
Currently on UDP here in Japan and it is 100% like this. Drift races every Friday night, Pokémon battles, and then Godzilla comes out and fights Goku.

My favourite movie in the series. The Japanese style and theme was just beautiful.
The fact that this went from one of the most hated films in the franchise to the most important film in the franchise. Literally all of the future FF films come back to this movie to advance the plot. 🤣
The only downside to this movie was the lead character in this movie was shit, all the supporting characters were great.

People hate this movie just because Brian or the others aren't in it. In a way, I actually think it's a refresher; most of the movie actually involves cars, racing and true to its name; drifting. There's only little about action and crazy fights and even those were good and believable- this was an amazing movie that deserves more respect in the fast franchise.

Remind you that when Tokyo Drift first came out people bash the shit out of it, like the whole year long. There will never be a better Fast movie than this. Its actually about cars, driving and racing ! Its hated by so many just because the lead is not the same as rest of the franchise.
Even Christopher Nolan showed that he cared about this movie the most out of entire franchise when he said that he had a "soft spot" for Tokyo Drift. And that the franchise grew and grew to "become something else."

This is pretty much what I'm thinking for like a decade now. Why not collaborate with NETFLIX for a TV series or something and showoff Han's story before TOKYO DRIFT? How he got into drifting in Japan met Takashi and the way he became part of the street scene in Tokyo. I just realized dk was going to race before meeting Shawn…..race han…I honestly would of love to see that.
The chase scene was good but more of the veilside RX7….perfect. Bought many NFS and watched videos online on how to recreated.
NFS underground felt like the Tokyo drift universe until the other one came out were the controls were more cranky but actually had the hills at night from the final race of this movie and glorified drifting levels. Soo clean…and how the engine revs…😘. Such masterpiece at that time.
Yo this is suchhhh a good movie and im not even talking about the cars and all that.. now that im older and actually understand whats going on 🤦🏽♂️ the first 3 DEFINITELY belong in the top 3

I remember when this movie came out everyone was crying how trash this movie was with this new guy coming from nowhere , I say fine work is never appreciated in its time this movie is a masterpiece
The problems isn't that it's a bad movie but that it is irrelevant to the franchise and so shouldn't have used the name.

Technically the movie was relevant to the franchise because it had Han in it. It’s just that back then, Han had only been in like a few minutes of F&F 4, so nobody really knew how he fit in with the story since everyone was confused when he was alive. They only made him relevant when 5 came out.
Interestingly enough, this one is actually my favorite of the franchise. Something in the storytelling, camera angles, even as campy as much of the story is, the action is much more believable. (And i never realized how annoying Vin Diesel/Dom was and is until I watched this one again after a long while.) So yeah...Tokyo Drift FTW.
