It is 3:03 am and I was sweating and about to cry because I have guests staying. I couldn’t get battery back in or remember how to put it back in. I wanted to smash it. You saved me. Thank you for being quick and getting to the point.
Hey cookingstarlady,
Again - middle of the night ! Happens so often in the middle of the night - or so it seems! Glad we could help!
It’s 3am and I was about to bash this thing into a million pieces. Thank you sir! 😅
Hey hot…,
I don’t know how they know to always go off in the middle of the night…
Glad it helped!
Thx for watching!
@@Housebaronsthat’s why I set a schedule to check the batteries with my multimeter every 4 months and replace when it drops below 9V. Technically they can operate down to 7V but batteries are cheap so I just replace them earlier. I replace them every 8 months or so unless they’re faulty and drain quickly after 4 months (Amazon basics batteries do that mostly).
Thank you for posting this. Super easy compared to the manual that doesn’t say anything about how to change the battery.
Glad it helped
Crazy a million people needed to see this
It’s crazy that 14% of the population needs to
could've been based but you're subbed to pewdiepie @@GreenGenerationTV
not everyone had dads that showed them how a-hole
People learning is crazy, are you Rockefeller?
You’re here too
You’re doing gods work Sir
Thank you so much! Two of my alarms went off at 5:30am ! Just moved in a month ago and obviously no one changed the batteries so your video was a life saver 😊
Short and clear. Amazing.
Hey little…,
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks! I was really struggling to get the dang battery in there. Test worked, and now my ears are ringing.
hey Amy,
yes - they are super loud!
THANK YOU for this video I was so close to unhooking the wires😂
😃 Been there! They always want to chirp at 2a.m. at our house!
Did that… it kept on beeping 😂
Thank you for this video because I was about to break my smoke alarm just to change the battery😂❤
👍Thx for watching!
Awesome, after watching other "battery installation " videos that did nothing but rattle on about the locking pin, this one actually delivers the content in the video title. Thank you sir!
Thanks! Saved me. 11 ft ceilings so that was fun at 1 am.
I can imagine! Glad it helped!
SOOO GREATFUL to find your instructions.
Hey Anita,
Thx for watching!
What am I doing with my life where I’m literally watching videos about smoke alarms beeping 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This man is doing Gods work. Thank you! 🙏🏾

THANK YOU!
You're welcome!
Omg thank you 😳🙄❤️
Thank you , it was helpful
Glad it helped
God bless you!
Hey Karen,
Thank you so much!
I replaced my battery, easily thanks to you. But it’s still twitting. I did hit the test button but not beep.
Hey Tina,
Make sure the battery is new and good. Maybe smoke alarm is too old or broken? Could replace it with a new one and see if that is the problem.
Thx for watching!
same experience @tinawood5926, opened 2 new batteries and no beep. It was a struggle to get the old battery out and new one inc! The device is less than 2 years old, and I will be looking for the receipt. It seems this First Alert model SA303A is extremely unreliable! Just the same, @Housebarons, your instructions are excellent; your conciseness and brevity are very much appreciated.
@@Housebarons I had the same experience on now two alarm sets. Gone through several packages of new batteries, and once batteries are replaced, alarms just keep chirping. I'm very aware of the battery connector alignment, but also tried flipping them to no avail. What else could be the issue? One by one I'm going to have to remove all of these alarms in my house. Brand new home when we moved in, so all alarms are exactly three years old. Would replacing batteries on a completely unplugged unit help, then reinstalling the alarm? Must be some simple fix, I can't imagine so many units would no longer work after the first battery replacement.
@@Housebarons it was new batteries. I just popped them out and back in again. They have to really fit just right. But it’s all good.
I always have a struggle getting the old battery out and the new one in... sometimes I don't think it seats right and still beeps at me... so I have to wiggle it around to make sure it is in correctly and eventually it goes away. These are not that expensive or hard to replace if you have one that won't stop no matter what.
Life saver!!!! (maybe even literally...)
Thx for watching!
Chirp.
Thanks
Welcome
Thank you Sir. I appreciate it. It's so annoying.
Glad it helped! Thx for watching.
Thanks!
Hey cookingstarlady,
Thank much for the support. We really appreciate the help!
Thx for watching too!
Getting the battery into those compartments are a pain in the arse! I hate those damned things.
Try doing it at night after the power went out & it's 10° outside & just slightly warmer inside & the ceiling is 10' & your holding a flashlight. Who are the people that design this!?
@@1incipitvitanova Oh I'm with you. I had to do mine on ladder by myself while I have a dog running around the house that freaks out every time she hears the beeping going off. It takes an hour just to get her back in the house after it's done.
Thank you
You're welcome
Thank you!!! Omg!!!!!
Happy to help
why would you change the basketball court mimic
I changed mine seemingly with no problem. The green light remains solid, as it should. However, the red smoke LED is flashing periodically, no chirping. Am I supposed to be seeing that? I can't remember if it did this in the last.
My alarm is on a 10 ft ceiling 😢l have a ladder but still can’t get it to open to replace battery. Nice video though. Thanks
So everybody's smoke alarms are going off at 3am around the world. Crazy!!!😮
Helpful. Does it matter how long you press when you hit "test"?
Usually ( on first alert ), it a pretty quick press to sound…
I hit test and it set off all of the alarms in my building (not a duplex but a triplex). Oops
Mine didn’t reset until I did that. Pressing it once and hearing a little bleep didn’t stop it chirping after I replaced the battery.
That's actually what happened to me at my house. Every single time I replaced the battery on each fire alarm and test them individually it would trigger the rest of the alarms(I have 5 in my house).
@@robertdelvecchio6690
Maybe yours are all hard wired and connected?
Video not specific how to get the battery out of that drawer without breaking plastic retainers!!! Help!!
Nice video👍
How long the battery last? Is this a wireless detector?
Hey tech…,
No. it is wired. The battery typically should be replaced each year just to be safe.
Thx for watching!
Mine is beeping, I would like to replace but scared to touch and it beep so loud 🥹🥹 do we need turn off first then remove the battery, replace then turn on again?
Hey Andrea..,
We just opened the battery door and swapped the battery - pretty straight forward.
Thx for watching!
@@Housebarons it worked, life saver 👏🏼
I’m unable to get the ‘latch’ open and replace battery. It is beeping every 30 seconds.
same here, eventually opened he latch and eventually got the old battery out and eventually the new battery in. It does not beep! Tried 2 new batteries.
@@mmbryans9889 - Same here. I had to twist it off from the ceiling and holding the tab that releases the door i forced it with a screwdriver. There was a tab holding it from opening. It easily snapped closed when I finished replacing the battery.
YO BIG PROPS MAN. Our alarm kept beeping in the middle of the night
I switched the battery and pressed the button
Then it went off for a bit💀 but it doesntbeep every minute now
Hey fish…,
How do they get them to fail at night! 🤣
Thx for watching!
I looked in there I done never see any prones on the inside
Somehow they designed it to work… gotta be something …
But how does the battery connect when door closes? Directions with system say absolutely nothing about direction of battery. I feel like it’s a battery just sitting there.
Hey frier…,
I’m kind believing w/o seeing, But by design, there have to be 2 metal contacts in there that engineers have designed so it works seamlessly when the battery door closes.
If you press the test button it should function and beep. That is you check for proper operation.
Thanks for watching!
@@Housebarons unfortunately mine did not work on battery replacement. I had a new battery on hand and bought a second one as back up, tried both, device failed.
Is it suppose to be blinking red or green?
Hey Noah,
I think red. Not sure there was a green light - though they could have changed over different models I suppose.
Thx for watching,
If it’s hardwired, it’s supposed to be solid green light
Did you shut breaker off first?
Hey fishing,
I did not to replace the battery.
Thx for watching!
you only have to do that when removing the alarm itself. its fine to keep it on while replacing the battery.
Also, it may not have it's own breaker. Mine are connected to my master bedroom.
Is this for the one that talks? I did something wrong the last time and I thought the world was going to end….Lol
Chirp rather than talk. Pretty annoying… by design!
Does the breaker need to be shut off?😊
Hey Christa…,
Not to replace the battery. Only if you were disconnecting the wires to remove the smoke detector and replacing the whole detector would you want the breaker off.
Hope the at helps. Thx for watching!
Probably gonna have to sleep in garage in vehicle or fork up funds to sleep in hotel. Desperately in need of sleep. It’s 2 AM & need to be out the door for work at 7
Whenever i try just opening that door to remove the battery, my entire system goes off
Hey krause…,
Hmmm. Something is amiss. That is not typical in my experience. I would try replacing the entire smoke detector.
Thx for watching.
@@Housebarons You're right. After watching your video, I checked the date on my detector and it's 12 years old. Time to replace them. Great video.
What planet are you on that it changed out that easily?!!!
What if it keeps beeping after changing
Mine is doing the same thing. Was hoping for a solution in the comments :/
Yeah same f-ing here!! 😩🤦🏻♂️
Do yall know how to fix it? I’m struggling with the same thing
@@meganm6269 I live in an Apt so I just called maintenance to come and replace the whole smoke alarm lol
All I had to do was lift up….i sleep now
Always going off at night😃!
after months of beeping, I finally stopped being lazy and decided to change the battery lmao.. only reason im changing it is bc my friends complain about it in the background when I call
Hey the…,
LOL! I hoped it was successful 😃
Same model
I replaced mine an still it beeps 🤷🏽♂️ dud batteries maybe?
Large terminal is -Negative
it would be nice if the device indicated negative and positive, but in any case, the device failed on battery replacement, opened a second new battery and still failed.
Didn’t reset after changing battery
Maybe recheck the battery - or replace whole detector…
That Chinese Amazon battery should last ya 2wks
Those Amazon batteries are pure TRASH. Use a quality Duracell, Energizer, Rayovac and replace it every 24 months if your system is a wired for permanent power.
Mine won't open wtf
Nah imma just take it out and not replace the battery, I just don’t like the pitch noise it keeps making
I don't like smoke alarm, I can't use candles, and sound is horrible
Just poppet open!,,,…………???????? It’s on the effing ceiling
Worst smoke alarms ever!
Your finger is in the way
i thijnk iimm half black thganks!!!

How come it's always yppo doin this?
That did not help at all
