The old girl is looking great, Caleb. Been following for a couple years and love how you've taken such a sympathetic approach to this restoration. I hope that if Mr. Brown is still hanging around in some way, that he's taking immense pride in the masterful restoration of his former home.
😊
It must be so gratifying to see the details come back to life right in front of your eyes! You did that! A sweet reward for all that hard work. Well done!
How great is it to have an actual artist painting your Victorian house trim? And even better that it's you! You are a very, very tidy painter! This really looks wonderful. The colors are perfect with the brick, and the detail of the millwork is so crisp now. Really exciting stuff! I adore that sunburst on the dormers!!
Kaleb, the paint makes all the difference! She is going to be an absolute stunner!
Awwwww, Caleb you and Kim have done a really great job! I am so proud of you both for the restoration process, thanks for sharing your journey with us!
The expression "I'm proud of you" implies that you had something to do with their success. So unless you have been there helping, I think you mean "I think you have done well." or "You should be proud of your effort."

What a lovely complement you gave the family!
Having just renovated my 60qm Apartment with the help of my sister and a big box of ibuprofen 😉 I have so much respect for you and Kim to be motivated for your project for all this time. Your home will be stunning! I'm looking forward for every new video happily watching paint dry.😊
Sending you blessings and encouragement. 🙇🏻♀️❤️🔥🙏🏽
Thank you! It turned out well, mostly because of my brave sister 😊
Praying the weather holds and you can get the majority of the roof done! Looking great!! Love the colors!
Looking forward to seeing the roof back together. Having the roof tight will not only keep things dry but make heating easier.
My fiancé loves all that detailed Victorian woodwork on those old houses. He would NOT love working that high off the ground. 😂 It’s starting to look very striking! Can’t wait to see the rebuilt dormers. Love your patient, intrepid, fearless spirit as you steadily press forward. So many would have given up by now, just from sheer exhaustion.
Coming along beautifully! I've been watching from the beginning and I don't comment much anymore. (To many supervisors, not enough workers 🤭) My best to you, Kim and the furbabies!
Really excited for the roof works! I can’t wait to see the outcome. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Keep it up.
Exciting times ahead! It will be a huge morale boost to you and Kim when the mansard roof is back to original form.
Can’t wait to see these pieces go on, as well as the rebuilt dormers. Those items will really make the facade of the house come alive.
Great work Caleb! Going to be so beautiful. I sure hope you have some time to get work done on the mansard before the snow blows!
Reconstructing all the rotted and missing woodwork is such a challenge, but it looks so good when you get it in place and painted appropriately.
Getting the roof wrapped up for Christmas would be quite the present, indeed. Having such expert help, knowledge and labor via your friend, Eric and his daughter Claire, is invaluable. You are very fortunate so, I'm sure your Christmas wish will be realized. CHEERS!
Caleb, I'd bet NONE of us can stop watching now! Looking spectacular!
Can't wait to see what Mr. LaVelle does for you :)))
He's a master.
The colors look great. This will create a dramatic visual effect on the exterior. Excellent work.
That paintwork looks amazing 🤩
Fingers crossed for mild weather!
Kaleb, I've never seen someone paint as much as you do and not end up with a bunch on yourself!!!
If I were doing it, I'd end up wearing half of it, LOL!!!
Anyway, best of luck with getting the Mansard fixed before snow flies... Best wishes to you & Kim!!!
What a difference so far! Anticipating more changes before the snow flies! Also looking forward to winter months which will mean INSIDE changes. Greetings from Albuquerque ☺️
Hello from Belen, NM. Been watching since year one.
Wow, what a difference. Loving what you have done so far 💖
OH MY! it sure is looking gorgeous and getting so excited to see the new boards up. I know it will take time as it is lots of work. But when you show the drafts it just lets you know how beautiful this house was and will look again.
This is starting to look really great! Keep up with the improvements and stay well. This area needs more people like you!
Color blindness hasn't held you back from picking the right paint companions, they are spot on! I very much appreciate all your hard work. I think of you as a Craftsman in your own right. I'm looking forward to seeing whatever you're willing to share. By the way, is Chippy still a part of your household? I'm thinking he may have had a paw in the Mansard demise scenario.🐿😉💖
Looking really GOOD!!!! Man, I can't IMAGINE messing with the Gutters, and ALL that that will entail!!!! Not to mention the wood around the Windows. GOOD LUCK!!!!
I truly appreciate your enthusiasm in the face of how monumental a task you have taken on. I’m excited to watch the continuation of your restoration of this historic beauty. You’re doing a fantastic job. BRAVO!!!!!!
It is an amazing transformation! You are taking your time and doing the job right. You are doing this home the justice it deserves. I love watching you and these episodes! Keep up the fabulous work. I know if the previous owner was alive today he would appreciate all the hard work, sweat equity, and time you are putting in. This will be a showplace someday soon!
With the old ladies Hat on her head, along with the top metalwork, and complete I am guessing you will next refocus on the stone front and rebuilding the rotten stone. Your earlier restoration work is astounding and made a huge difference.
This old girl is going to be gorgeous with the whole front rebuilt.
Now I have seen your colors in the light, they are stunning together! Especially once they are combined with the yellow over the body of the limestone. A well done "Victorian" color pallet indeed!
Really does just look so beautiful... thank goodness the weather has been kind. Can't wait for the roof work to start 🎉🙂
Just wanted to say, im from North Dakota and was in SL for work recently and made it a point to drive by and WOW! To se the ol girl in person and compare what it looks like in person to what it looked like in ep1. GREAT JOB!. Can't wait to see what it looks like a year from now!
It's getting exciting!!!
I love seeing people restore and not renovate old houses. It’s so nice knowing that you appreciate the history. Amazing work!❤❤❤
The exterior colors have a very serene feel to them. I wish you and Kim all the best.
I've had success fending off squirrels with Woodlife CopperCoat in areas where they've chewed. I replace the wood, paint the very nasty copper wood preservative only where they've chewed before, then paint over it with paint. So far it works. If you have other suggestions, I would love to hear them. Cheers. :o)
Yep, were using copper coat on the rafters and some wire mesh.
Yes, it will be exciting to see the upcoming changes!
You’ve done an amazing job!!! So proud of you! ❤
*Kaleb, can you please tell us the distance between you & the neighbour's home & also show us what that outside wall looks like & what condition it is in, thanks. Gosh you have been doing so much & I am looking forward to seeing what you & Eric do to the dormers. You & Kim have a great week 🙂nz*
Ok will do
Good morning Kaleb, your doing a spectacular job on this house, don't let anyone tell you otherwise lol get it taken care of before winter hits. Sorry i miss the live stream, maybe next time. You take care say hi to your Kim.😊
Wonderful to tune in this week and see the leap [for me] in your progress. It's a delight to know you have nearly all the wood you need under your roof FOR the mansard roof. The colours of paint you are using will all come together really well once the roof tiles are sorted and the rest of the wood has been lifted into place. Absolutely fantastic Kaleb. Stellar video as always. Thanks very much and Huge Hugzz as ever, Steve in Manchester UK.
I am really looking forward to watching this come together. Very exciting🎉
I’m just taken back with the amazing work you have done so far on the house. Your art and craftsmanship is bar none. I’m excited for what the future holds next!!
Really enjoy watching your patience, dedication and enthusiasm !
I can’t wait to see the roof restored and the expertise required to do so. You’ve done such an amazing job and your dedication is admirable.
I can Hardly wait, looking forward to the winter indoor work too!
Love the contrast of the colors
This is so exciting!!!! The beauty is really starting to show with the paint. And I am soo glad you chose the Lindseed oil paint. I think it is a superior paint with a look that can't be duplicated with our modern paint.
I wasn’t sure about the green colors until you added the red/brown paint, nicely, compliments the greens! Beautiful! Also, I’m always blown away by your attention to the details. 👍🏻
I love how the ol girl is coming along. Slowly but surely. Your attention to detail is admirable. Bravo to you. I am so glad I found your channel and have been watching since the beginning. Hello to Kim and your critters 🤗
👏👍OMG! very exciting to see old girl very much alive!..good job Kaleb!...I surely miss Kim vlogging, hope all is well with her.
I eagerly await each week to see more of your beautiful restoration project! You are a very talented person and your house is coming along awesome! Stay safe and you and Kim enjoy this wonderful journey! It is just gorgeous what you have done so far! Bravo!!
You are doing an amazing job. Anybody who's done any home repair or renovation understands how much work you put into it already. Even though there's a long way to go it's still coming along great
WOOHOO!!! I can't wait for the next projects! She's really ready to shine!
Oh, wow, Kaleb, the painting is really making a huge difference. It looks beautiful. It must give you great satisfaction after your hard work to start to see it coming together. Watching from PA.
Wonderful job! Can't wait to see the finished roof!
Can't wait to see the restored roof in place. It's going to be beautiful!
I’m watching these since Covid and I’m so excited for a roof of a house that I will never go to 😂
You guys are such dedicated, hard workers! Love the paint colors you've chosen!
Caleb, I won't be surprised if once you've completed the restoration work that the city doesn't give you some kind of recognition for all your endeavours in the work that you've done in restoring the house to it's original state. Maybe a plate for putting on the outside wall saying about the original build and the year with the original owners name, etc, followed by your name and year of restoration completion 🤔. Caleb, I've watched you and your progress from the very first video you uploaded to CZcams, and I cannot to this day get my head around just how much you have not only achieved but learned along the way 😊. Sir you should be extremely proud of yourself and I wish one day, that if fund's are able to come to the USA and visit you, your wife and see the incredible building and the work you have done to restore your beautiful home!!! Plus, hopefully, by that time, you will have bought the land next door and built the amazing woodworking workshop and have all those belt driven machines back working in full-time production mode.
P.s. My idea of heaven, I believe, is the same as yours. The completed workshop running along to the sounds of the old leather/material belt drives and the aroma of wood filling the air around as you work to create new old pieces for other restoration projects 😅!!!. As always my friend 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
One of the few channels that I subscribe to that don't have idiots comment that they are first!
Wow it’s looking so beautiful! Cannot wait to see the Dormers all complete it’s going to be such an awesome series of videos ahead.
Slow but steady wins the race!
I'm ready for it. The Mansard is such an ornate unique and beautiful roof:))
I am so sorry you have color blindness, because the painting is so beautiful on your trim! Can't wait for the finish of the Munford 😊
Im waiting on my carpenter for those things. Those holes wont be holes for much longer and it does add quite a bit of protection to what wood is left. Also the linseed oil paint will allow the wood to breath which means it can dry if it does get a little wet. So its a case of do what i can when i can.
I love the sunburst on the dommers. Can’t wait to see when you get at that point in getting them restored. I’ve said it before I love the colors your putting on the house. Yes, it looks so good. Pat yourself on the back n give yourself a wonderful reward as you deserve it.
So excited for you. Hoping the weather will continue to cooperate. ♥️♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟
The thing I love about the painted lady style of painting is that you can use different colors to make certain features pop. You can show how the different looks work together. We use to have a home in my hometown that had 13 of the 15 classic colors on it. It was gorgeous. So many beautiful little elements that created this work of art. Then the family moved and the new people who bought it painted it all white. It's like they erased the beauty. I'm so glad that you are using the different paints to make features pop on your house. Thank you for caring and doing the beautiful thing.
😟😢
So excited for you guys! I can’t begin to tell you how much I love this project. ❤
St louis has some beautiful architectural buildings. Sadly some have been torn down or left to rot. It's so great you are restoring this beauty. I notice there was a store in the background on the corner. That would be perfect for a mom and pop store or a organic place for the neighborhood. I remember the stores when growing up in S. St Louis. The families lived upstairs over there businesses. My friend lived up over their bakery. Some are just beautiful. Congrats on your hard work. Thank you for givingback to our city.
I get teary in the best way, about everyone & everything you creatives have dedicated to this house renovation! ❤ Bravo!
Thank you! 😊
I guess you could say that those windows are "but a shadow of their dormer selves" ?
Caleb, you talk about Eric and his craftsmanship with an almost reverence. I hope you realize that you should be referring to your own work the same way. To see what I mean you should go back and watch some of your old videos. YOU really are a FINE CRAFTSMAN in your own right! The skill and patience you have removing over 100 years of old paint and rot is truly beyond journeyman level. YOU ARE at CRAFTSMAN level.
The windows look amazing in the artwork. The whole roof is going to be so beautiful and striking once you’ve brought it all back to life.
Is it possible to use a type of wood that squirrels won’t like or treat it with something they won’t like, so they don’t ruin it again?
I just spent my Friday night watching videos to catch up on Caleb's progress. I'm such an old house nerd...
John in Bethel, Missouri
I'm excited to see this beauty shine. You did already so much progress. Good job Caleb!
yeeeey looking good and maybe even gorgeous by christmas!!!
"Welcome to 40 feet in the air". That hit my funny bone. 😁😁😁
Love your choice of colors.
I cannot wait to see the finished roof! Keep up the awesome work!
Your home is coming along so nicely 😊 can't wait til your all done to see this beautiful home come to life again, through all your hard work 🥰👍 bless you.
thoses colors bring all the richness of the details. wonderful artisan job
So worthy and noble a project, which comes to fruition via a stink load of non-stop elbo grease and hard work. When you said you were looking at a 5 year restoration project I believe you. That outside roof and upper dormer has a crazy amount of detail to it, and the degree of rot and deterioration up there is not small ! 😲 Just to bring all that back looks more to be a six month endeavor - not a six week one.
I remember when you first began. I saw their for first episode.. Thank you for showing amazing ideas. Can't wait for the next steps. Glory.
I’m very excited to see the Mansard roof come together!
Kaleb, the outside is looking fantastic! Your doing the right thing. So glad to watch your videos. When I lived across the street, I always wondered who lived in the gorgeous home you purchased. Always thought they were important, and now through your video, I found out it was the Brown family. It’s turning out beautiful! Would love to meet you someday.
Well thats shouldnt be a problem if your still in the city or near anyways. Email me the2ndempirestrikesback@gmail.com i wouldnt mind hearing your stories of the neighborhood. The browns are just a small part of the story of this neighborhood I would love to hear yours!
Another piece to the puzzle nearly there 🤗👍
Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Wonderful progress Caleb ! Stay safe !
The colors are going to look awesome when all finishes. I'm so excited for this. 🎉
The colors are perfect for your home. It reminds me of one of Floyd Wright's home.
I can tell it's going to look beautiful when it's finished 😊
Hello Caleb and Kim... The front of the house is looking awesome. Looking forward to more. Hugs❤
I love the color combination you picked! Can’t wait to see it complete! It’s beautiful!!
Stunning! She's looking gorgeous!
Looking amazing...
Can't wait to see what the future brings...!
I love the colors and the roof decoration ,Caleb you are doing great.
Swedish linseed oil paint is a beautiful product. I’m so glad you found it. Looks great.
it's coming together, and it's beautiful
