So fucking distraught that UCI DH will be leaving redbullTV, that type of race coverage before, during, and after the race is bar none.

I thought this was meant to be a bigger more in depth (I was hoping for more riding footage) view of the whole race weekend and stages.

It was an improvement but still some ways to go. We want to see more riding of the stages. As someone who was at the event, I want to see the bits of track I couldn't see on the day. and why didnt people do well, did they have a puncture, did they have a mechanical. why was Jack so far back. these are the insights I'm interested in. Get much more useable info from WynTV. Still don't know why they don't just release the pro's helmet cams as separate video's, don't need narration and talking over all of it. Neil's segment was a weird acid trip. Couldn't focus on his facts because I was distracted by his weird floating head and generic youtube influencer graphics.
Great event, and good to see some coverage, but would like more info and more racing footage please.
Would agree on that Stats with Rob section. A properly jarring tonal shift for the whole video. It didn't suit the vibe and style of the rest of it, and detracted from the actual content which is essentially the opposite of what the editing should be doing.

The 2021 Race Highlights style was definitely the best we've seen. Plenty of racing shown from each stage, comments from racers and updates on the stage and overall times as the day progressed told a great story. Seems like the crew is trying to do too much this year and getting lost in the volume a bit. Looking forward to watching the media evolve as we go. A monumental task at hand for sure!
This post race show was a bit of a let down. Lack of depth in the racing story. Undecided on whether the stats section was good or not. Must've been a nightmare to edit though. Conversation between Ric and Ruaridh in previous years was great to follow, maybe that kind of dynamic could be worth brining back. Keep on working on it!
Really good video guys ! Wouldn't mind a bit more riding footage, maybe like a section of the race which was the most problematic or something :)
This is fine as a fluffy 'magazine' format but PLEASE can we have a video that is purely race highlights. Stage by stage highlights, showing us the times as they go, building up the tension as we see the progress of the top riders through the race (eg Innes Graham's story would have been amazing to follow. Heard he hit a tree on stage 3 but still stayed up top). This format is all over the shop, with the racing so condensed that is very difficult to follow what happened. I make it only 6 minutes of actual (non-ebike) racing segment?! Not good enough. I wanted to share a highlights package with colleagues but I would be embarrassed to share this, honestly. I absolutely love EWS so say all this with the best intentions

What i missed though, were those short interviews with the riders between stages... those alone were quite often a reason to watch those videos.

People want to see the race. If live coverage is logistically too difficult, then an edited recreation of the suspense of watching each rider come down and cross the finish with their place and time on screen would be the next best thing. Show the top 3-5 runs each stage with the same camera positions for each rider, start, a few along the track, and finish line. This video is not showing the race, it's more like an excerpt from a documentary that glosses over the details that everyone wants to see. Details like key sections of track, and how each rider handles them. Save the documentary format for the end of the season recap, and show the races during the season.

This was good, but the race highlights is all I actually want to see. The race highlights in this were just the same as the short one released earlier. No individual top 10 stage results, hardly any in race interviews, hardly any actual riding footage... It was better years ago.

Very professionally done (maybe accept the crazy stats section..) and I'm sure Discovery+ will like the content and how it was positioned for new audiences but I need to echo what other commenters have said about the actual race stories need to be at least double in length with actual race times per stage - that's where the excitement is for us fans, was Jesse just a second behind Rude or half a minute was there a race on?! What happened to Maes? you mention him in the pre-race bit then don't highlight his chain issues... and last years world champion you don't mention him at all after falling back after the pro stage, he recovered pace and was building back up and an interview with him afterwards would have been really interesting. I don't know if your limited on time by Discovery but you def need to give more time to the actual race and let that section breath. or maybe created two shows here a pre-season one introducing the riders and Maes interview and the stats section etc... Big fan and what you guys (Ric and RC) are doing for the sport is great taking it to another level just don't forget us geeking fans who want the nitty gritty details.

It’s almost as if there were no non english native speakers in the enduro world series! Uncanny!
If this show is published 2 days after the race, it should assume we know the results from other sources. Don't try to recreate an artificial build up to the stages. A look back on the weekend would make more sense.
When will a EWS round happen in Australia????
There have been several over the years. Probably will come back when covid restrictions lift

EWS-E was the toughest race of the week. They are mountain bikes even if you can't afford one ;-)

Red Bull still does DH and XC. EWS is not a UCI Event so red bull probably doesn’t have any rights. Plus Enduro would be boring to watch live. Long stages, you don’t get to watch the individual splits and have the tension before each split to see whos up or whos down up until the final 10 who are going to be close to eachother, making for a nice finale, like you do in DH. enduro is too drawn out. Pretty boring to watch i imagine

@@waldojpg RedBull had EWS previous to this, and you could watch the live stages. I was watching last year when Moir bent his rim and straightened it out with a rock and Richie went on the wrong side of the flags at the end, ending his championship hopes.

Why? Ebikes are mountain bikes and part of EWS.
@@CM9999999999 Your logic makes no sense. KTM make motorbikes , emtb's and lots of other bicycles. Lots of DH races ride MX when training. Neither of these things has any bearing on the validity of ebikes in EWS. I have race motorbikes, ebikes and they are completely different. My ebike is like riding an Enduro MTB with a bit of assist uphill.

This seems like a downgrade from last years highlights. There were almost no race highlights in fact. No stage after stage breakdown. No short interviews with riders. Nice package around but RACE HIGHLIGHTS!...been watching EWS highlights since the same year Rick appeared and it was always great to get to live through the stages. Last years last highlights were so so good. This was so bad.
First part should have been a preview show released prior to the race. It would also spare us from all the duplicated content.
The stat bit could have been interesting but the GMBN style delivery was awful - your audience surely isn't kids like theirs.
The whole bit with Josh Carlson had already been released so if anyone follows the coverage they've already seen it. Also why are you mixing in the E-bike garbage with the EWS coverage?!? Put it on a separate channel it's cringy
Dear EWS - even a Match of the Day-style re-heat of the segment action with ‘as live’ commentary is miles better than this.
The producer also needs to give his or her head a good wobble if they think time is best spent on dizzying ‘graphics’, tedious re-caps or 2:30 of intro.

Yes I agree. Although I suspect CV19 panic was a factor when 2022 venues where being decided. For instance, Fortress Australia and The Socialist Republic of Jacinda would have automatically been ruled out. 🙂

Great round up show - don’t listen to the haters. With this and Pinkbike Racing we’re really spoilt for content this year…some viewers might want to think about that before spouting more negative dross.

Some right moaners in this comment section, I think they do a great job to cover such a big event, it’s not like it’s a single run like DH and even on that redbull still can’t cover all of the track lol

Sorry but that was all fluff and not what was promised by EWS comments in the very poor, short, and badly produced highlights video. Hopefully you take all the fan comments on board and can revert back to the quality 2021 coverage...
