  • Location: Mt. Washington Auto Road
Address: 1 Mt Washington Auto Rd, Gorham, NH 03581
    Cost : Paid $53 for 2 Adults
Recommendation: If you are planning to drive #MtWashingtonAutoRoad, please check the brake of the car and also make sure how to switch the gear to the lower gear. You will need it while you descend from the summit of Mt. Washington ( to save your break)
Fact: #MtWashington is the highest Mountain in the northeast USA and one of the windiest places on earth (recorded).
Mt. Washington Auto Road is a very scenic drive in Gorham, New Hampshire. The road, located in the White Mountains, first 4 miles is kind of Ok and moderate but after that, it can be a bit intimidating and scary you will be driving along steep cliffs that lack guard rails and it is 10 Mile road to the Summit of Mt. Washington.
You will be able to experience the most dramatic beauty of Presidential Range as you drive up to the 10-mile Auto Road - summit of the highest peak in the northeast USA.
The wicked road that is literally perched onto a very steep mountain ridge is located at 1 Mt Washington Auto Rd, Gorham, NH 03581. It’s asphalted. Not recommended for people afraid of heights. This Auto road tests the skill, and courage, of any driver. Don't try if you are suffering from vertigo. Definitely, the drive is Scary. It's a two-lane road, with no guardrails and big drop-offs on one side. So thrill remains the same while ascending and descending. But, it's really worth it. It’s incredibly disorienting to look over the edge, or even just to see the valleys a couple thousand feet below you. The road includes some steep sections.
Thank you so much for watching my video on Auto Road Mt. Washington. Please like, subscribe, and comment.

I did it on my motorcycle July 4th last year, first time and was by myself because my buddies couldn’t make it. I’ll tell ya, it was definitely an adrenaline rush, coming down to me was much more fun because I knew what to expect. Not gonna lie, on the way up I was only about 2 miles in and was having some second thoughts as there were 58mph gusts (they shut the road down to motorcycles at 60mph gusts) but I had ridden 4hrs to get there that day and decided I wasn’t leaving without experiencing it. I’m happy I did!! And I’m psyched to do it again this year. Hopefully my wife will go with as well, it’s a hell of a ride with unreal scenery, especially on the bike feeling the temp change in real time on the way up, it was about 65 at the base and about 35 at the summit when I went. Woooooo!!!

i know exactly what you meant here. I had to stop in the middle of driving, luckily the car did not drag back itself but it is too scary while going up. But it is a life time experience, you can't get that feeling unless you do it by yourself. Mt. Washington toll road, definitely one should try it if they love adventure. Even Hiking to Mt. Washington during winter is kind of same. Thanks for your very genuine and valuable comment. Keep traveling Have fun and safe travel.

@@thumpertorque_ The crew won’t allow motorcycles up if the wind is gusting at 60+ mph. I called multiple times that day while heading that direction and they were always very polite to give me info. Just check the weather before going and you’ll be fine.

Just did this today. Made it to 7:11 on this video. Wife panicking and kid crying plus in the clouds, couldn’t see. With a minivan. The clouds blocked all the scenery but also blocked the fearful drop. Don’t know how there are more accidents.

We just climbed Mt Washington the other day. It was a beautiful sunny day for about the first three miles. Then the fog took over and we had "pea soup" all the way up to the summit. What an amazing drive! Our new F150 was an absolute joy to drive on this excursion. We had taken the cog railway train up to the summit about 40 years earlier on a clear day. That was a big thrill.

Summit of Mt. Washington is simply beautiful and thrilling which ever way we go. Temp changes drastically within a minute, we did the hike to the summit via cog rail way too 2 years back during the winter, it was super challenging but at the same time driving is a thrill!! Keep Traveling ...

We went up three times years ago. The first two times were fine but the third time we were in a Jeep which is higher up so you can see the drop off easier. The first half of the road is fine until there are no railings or trees. The road seem more narrow than the other two times we went. Needless to say, this drive is the reason why my husband and I are now terrified to drive on mountain steep roads with cliffs
