  • Short(ish) piece about why I no longer paddle my Jackson Karma R/G. I prefer a half-slice or a longboat like the newer Pyranha 12R which has significantly more rocker and lets it get through bigger surf much easier than the Karma R/G. The RG still remains one of my favorite boats and an awesome boat for rock gardening and river paddling.

Great job riding the foam pile safely! To be fair, I've seen Rodeo chew up and spit out both shorter rock gardening boats as well as longer boats. And it can be placid and all of a sudden giant. Rodeo is not for the faint of heart kayaker ;-)

oh for sure no doubt. But I am certain that I could have popped through that wave easily in a Pyranha Ripper or a 12R

interesting point of view, I've never heard of that as a downside of the karma rg. You said you sold it, do you know anyone who wants to get rid of one in norcal. I'm searching for one

I have seen some popping up on forums from time to time. I think there was one available in the SF bay area recently. If you check the facebook group "Bay Area Sea Kayakers" They have some listings which I'm pretty sure is where I saw it. Also a fair number of those folks paddle or own them and someone may be willing to part with theirs. I know they are something of a hard boat to find but I have seen a couple for sale in the past 6 months or so. If you keep your eyes peeled you should be able to snag one.
