- UPDATE: At least 20 people, including 19 children, were killed in a shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, according to law enforcement officials. Several others, both students and adults, are being treated for injuries.
The alleged shooter was also killed, local police confirmed. It is believed that the shooter acted alone. He has been identified as 18-year-old Salvador Ramos. Department of Public Safety officials have told KENS 5 that there are two adult fatalities, a teacher and the gunman. However, Sen. Roland Gutierrez told the Associated Press there are a total of three adult fatalities.

One word ….Parents, who don’t teach their kid respect, tolerance, patience and understanding towards each other. It’s the responsibility and job of the parent to teach these skills. Teachers or the public can’t do it for them. This generation of kids are something else. Many laws nowadays protect the kid, and kids knows this, that no severe consequences is going to happen to them.

The problem is these shooters are doing this to make statements about how angry they are. Perhaps we should start modeling how to work through our issues, get help and resolve conflicts. I read the shooter posted hints he was going to go after children on social media. Why did no one turn him in, especially so soon after the Buffalo Tops shooting?

My two year old hid in a restaurant bathroom and the second I didn’t see her I panicked uncontrollably! I can’t imagine not seeing her for life !! So unbelievably cruel for that student who killed innocent lives ! And as many comments below say it’s always in our minds it could happen in our child’s school it’s true . Mathematically, the odds are against any Republican politician losing a child in a school shooting.
What do you suggest as a solution? Taking away our 2A rights won’t fix this. It will only make matters worse. We need security armed at every public school. Enough of the “armed officers at schools make children of color feel unsafe”
If you don’t break the law you don’t feel targeted by the police. We can give these positions to retired vets. I’m sure schools can find it within those budgets to make the schools safe. Arm the teachers if need be.
There was once a point when it was completely safe to walk yourself to school, to go to the bus stop, I think that era is over. My heart aches for all of the families affected. RIP

There never was. Kidnapping and assault against kids used to be even more common, the news was just more insular and you didn't hear about attacks against children outside your town. We've had these problems for a long time but the internet has made them more visible. Hopefully this will help us get to a place where children really are safe, but thats a long way off

I am so sorry for all these lives lost. My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones. We should have more strict gun laws. This guy even killed his own grandmother.

I’m sure more details will be revealed after the investigation about what the security situation was at the school. It’s a smaller Texas community so security make not have been as stronger as the larger schools but we don’t know.

I don't know why my husband made us move back to the States and send our daughter to the school here. I seriously didn't even want to leave Japan. There have never been school shootings in Japan, needless to say. School should be the safest for children.

Yes the gun culture is insane instead of defending property like the wild west old days now its for mass shootings. The guns protect but also if abused can be used for something sinister. News caring media people have been replaced with demonic ones for a bit now, they are demon-possessed but, it seems that we all just don't care anymore. seriously we don't. I don't even like to see reg media anymore, and some youtube outside media is getting the same way.
My daughter is in the 4th grade. I can't even imagine something like this happening to her. I feel for the parents and families of the victims.. losing a child in a mass shooting at school is something no parent should ever have to go through. I grieve with them and I pray for their healing. It's even more difficult for me to imagine what these children went through in their last moments. The fear they must have felt in the minutes before their death, witnessing others around them dying and just waiting for the inevitable.. it hurts my soul. I can't get them out of my head. I envision them crying for their parents, holding each other tightly and praying to make it out alive, all the while wondering what they did to deserve this. They were so young to have lost their lives so tragically. I am beyond heartbroken and I can't wrap my brain around this. Why were these innocent children targeted and more importantly, why don't lawmakers act? Something needs to change.

I have grand kids in school. I have offered to patrol their school for free and conceal armed. I get refused everytime. What do you do when public officials won't let you protect your kids? This scares me.
According to some witnesses, instead of performing their duty and storming the building searching for the shooter the almost two dozen law enforcement officers barricaded themselves behind their cars for almost ONE HOUR. Until the shooter ran out of bullets.
