- I gotta say this was one of the more difficult locations to get to that we have visited but I think it was well worth the long and terrible road to reach it.

I got the giggles imagining your workspace covered in mica glitter.
I will be finding bits of it for the rest of my life I think, I should of done the extractions outside I think.
Great video! Kyanite is a beautiful crystal. The mica schist is kind of pretty too. I'm glad that you found some awesome pieces for micro mounts and thumbnails and hopefully some bigger ones inside the schist also. Thanks for sharing you trip and beautiful finds!✌️🤠
Kyanite is interesting in that it has 2 different hardnesses, one in the direction of the striations is much harder than across the striations. The crystals have a beautiful color.
I didn't personally test mine since there pretty small but that is a neat fact about them for sure.
Love it!! Thank you for doing all that you do!! 👍
Thank you!
Love the color of kyanite! Your specimens look beautiful!
Thank you!
Great specimens!
Thank you!
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Those kyanites are beautiful. Thank you for the scenery shots...I can remember how I felt while standing on ridges like that in past years...refreshing! Rockhounding BLISS!
Thank you, it sure is a pretty place to just stand and look out at.
Gorgeous views...
Those pieces are great.
Thank you! :)
So cool! Love that we live in the same location as you do..and have possibilities of finding more goodies.
You should check it out! If you find something good I would love to see a photo of it!
Well those were cool specimens! I love how you do your micro mounts, and your specimen mounts. And kyanite is such a beautiful blue mineral, that it deserves to be cleaned up and mounted that way, to bring out the beautiful blue color and the gorgeous crystal habits of that mineral. You guys got some very nice specimen pieces to go on your specimen shelf too. That looked like a pretty hairy drive in there through some pretty narrow and dangerous dirt roads! Man if that's not a commercial for subaru, i dont know what is! Awesome video! And laika's puppy curiosity over rides her self preservation instincts, because they have owners that protect them from themselves, i think. Its all cute until they meet a porcupine in a hole! lol!
Thank you, one of the more valuable things I have learned this year was how to properly mount and preserve specimens which I really have enjoyed.
Laika is a silly dog for sure.
Another excellent video Along with the cool material we got to watch you find, I REALLY want to thank you for those amazing Beautiful views! We don’t get to see trees like that down here where we’re at. So Thank you, so very much for that! The ‘round-up was Great as well. 💎
I'm glad you liked it!
Great to be able to see what kyanite looks like in matrix. Thanks for sharimg
I'm glad you liked it!
Love the blues on that first piece you showed in the slideshow! Growing up in Western North Carolina I was able to collect kyanite from the gravel roadbeds. All of those metamorphic rocks in the Appalachians are loaded with garnets and kyanite! Biggest I ever found was a couple inches long and around an inch wide. I bet the ones from your locality are amazing if they get larger!
Dang! I don't think they get that big out here. That must have been fun to find.
What a beautiful blue crystal. 💎The scenery was amazing too.
Thank you!
There is something about Kyanite that I love. Color, shine, I don’t know. My first specimen piece was a darker blue kyanite. Great mineral 💫
Awesome location. Super content.
You probably don’t want to say mica too often around your fur child. 😂 Poor thing won’t know what the heck is going on. 😂
Thanks for the fabulous adventure. Beautiful micro mounts. A+++
Stay Crystal 💫
Mari
Ha! She's easily confused by it.
Man I love the blue crystal rock!
That’s very interesting such that specimen.
Thank you!
Outbacks are the money. I have family that uses that rig for crummies. Logging transportation. Keep your crummy good so I can be jealous. 🤜🤛👍🏽
It's a really capable rig.
Nice
That road is why you NEED to get a side-by-side to bring along!
A side-by-side would be so much fun to have and use to explore different areas with but unless I find a winning lottery ticket on the ground I don't think that will be happen.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding ya, even then given Sarah’s massive eye roll on the saddle mountain episode when you joked about it, not sure money alone would be enough lol
I live in Fernwood and have been to Freezeout a lot. We haul the atvs to Whiterock Spring then ride the atv to Freezeout. I have found several corundum deposits at Odonell Creek and Timber creek also at Trail Creek. We have found Green, pink and blue Kyanite at Little North Fork. Facet grade Garnet can be found near there also. Just thought you would like to know. Keep Rockin.
That's the way to get out there!
Thank you for the tips on the area.
This year's videos have been great with the slight caveat that I'm gonna have to wait till next year to go to any of the places! Maybe I'll just have to go to the bluebird mine in Cali and pick through the tailing for kyanite if I want it this year.
Thank you! I do enjoy sharing these places we get to visit.
I'm not familiar with that locations, I will have to look it up.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding Learned about it through a rubble rock and gem video. It's near the Mexico boarder, by Yuma and comes up on the Mindat website. They used to mine the stuff for counter tops but the company that built those tailings is now defunct and has been for some time.
Interesting material! No polishing that stuff!
They are rather pretty once to break them out and wash them up which makes me happy!
Dogs are so scent oriented lol. They will stick a big nose where I would never stick my hand 🤚
Scent oriented and sometimes lacking in good judgement! :)
@@CurrentlyRockhounding no doubt. Good news though…studies revealed dogs expand a ton of energy sniffing stuff so at least it helps wear them out if they survive lol
I bought some larger Kyanite crystals that had some clean areas that I was able to cut cabochons from. They are good enough the Mrs. wears the jewelry I was able to make from them. I know it come in good enough quality to facet as well, but then it starts getting more expensive.
Those must have been pretty large!
👋 Beautiful…👁👁
Thank you!
Blue kyanite is my favourite. I have black kyanite specimens but not as beautiful as the blue. What beautiful views! Thank you for taking us along🥰
I don't think I have ever seen any in black, I will have to go look it up!
Thank you! :)
Mica is easy to spot, kyanite is such a nice blue.
I find mica schist but lots of garnets
Besutiful place with rocks and gems. Isn't kyanite a member of asbestos? If not it won't hurt to know I'm wrong. You, Sara and Mica look like you are all enjoying yourselves
Keep having fun. Be happy, safe and stay healthy from Salome, AZ.😷⚒
The kyanite is an aluminum silicate mineral. No asbestos here!
@@CurrentlyRockhounding 🤠👍Thank You!
How did you enjoy idaho? I moved there a few years back and absolutely love it.
I love north Idaho!
I am not brave enough to take a rig out there 😮 Last time I was up there it was pretty hairy on a 4 wheeler. Meeting Jeeps and other rigs is a bit of a challenge in spots. 😬
Yeah its a place that I'm not sure I would go back to on a busy weekend for that very reason.
Will you be doing a video on how you extract the crystals?
I don't think I will be but I will talk about it on the SNS video in a few days.
@@CurrentlyRockhounding sounds good!
What pry bar are you using in this video, love the crystals,I'm in colorado, haven't seen any
It's called a Gad bar, its made by Estwing.
What technique do you use to process and remove the crystals?
That could be its own short video
I will go over some of that on this coming weeks Saturday Night Special video.
I hate having to turn around because of the road, whatever activity I'm doing.
It always makes me wonder what I'm missing out on.
