Seeing Pokemon organized this way in a montage should not have made me as emotional as it did.
Same. I appreciated that they did various groupings to tie the Pokémon appearances together, naturally excluding Paldean Pokémon to be showcased at the end.
It brought back so many journeys, so many memories, all at which we can remember…forever.

Ikr I really asked myself why I was crying during the video, they did a great job with the montage!
Same. I was tearing up more the further they got into the vid. The music, the way they grouped Pokemon, and how it seemed to go bigger and bigger with every grouping, ending with Legends and Mythicals before hitting Paldea to salute the newest generation.

Pokémon is practically a culture all its own. This franchise has inspired so many memories. To the editors in charge of this video, I can’t thank you enough for this masterpiece.
Whoever composed the music for this deserves a freaking raise
Well most of it especially in the later half is the stuff from the games
Pikachu being 25 after the first 8 sets of 3 starters, it's national dex number being 25 and appearing at 0:25 was so perfect
I honestly thought they were going to go in the order of the National Dex for all Pokémon and I am surprised they didn’t
Sadly, if you did a world dex that put all the starters first, it would put Pichu at #28 at the earliest.
@@GamerFromJump well with the way they formatted it, they wanted all the paldea pokemon last (all of them actually matching their national dex numbers) since it is a recent generation
@@Squirtle_Squad_Supremacy Not to mention the fact that Gholdengo the 1000th Pokémon was introduced in that very region.

for one brief moment... Ultra Necrozma's theme was the proud representative of every legendary Pokémon. as it should be.
The Xerneas, yveltal and zygarde battle theme was used right before it, and HOLY CRAP THAT TRANSITION FROM THAT SONG TO ULTRA NECROZMAS THEME IS PHENOMENAL love both songs, so well edited and executed in this awesome video
I know people don't recognize X and Y for very much, but the legendary theme before ultra necrozma's really fits in this video!
Once upon a time, there were only 151 Pokémon to collect and train, and we all sang a song to remember their names. Even today, we recognize them right away. Now we're older, and the next generation is collecting and training. Some are our nieces, our nephews, heck our own children.
So we'll remember the good old days when all we had were a few pixels and some songs. Let's see these new kids try and catch 'em all. We'll be there to help. And I can't wait ro see where it goes.
@@Glitch2Game Arceus's theme doesn't feel very fitting unfortunately. It's WAY too intimidating for this video whereas Ultra Necrozma feels grand and powerful which feels better suited for the Legendary/Mythic showcase
Something I love so much about Pokemon is that no matter which of these 1008 creatures you look at, no matter how much you might not care for them, someone out there places it as their absolute favourite.
Except Silcoon, Gothita, Yungoos, and Eelektrik. In a poll of over 52000 votes, those four received exactly 0 votes.
@@EvanFarshadow 52000 is too low to represent an entire pokemon fandom though
The fact that all starters from Gens 1 to 8 (basic forms) are 24 in total, just for Pikachu to appear at number 25 was both an amazing coincidence and great attention to detail.
Not just that, they even timed it precisely for pikachu to appear at 0:25 second.
I actually cried during this because I was feeling so nostalgic and I remember there's so many times that Pokemon helped me when I was feeling sad and not in a good place
Absolutely Insane, The editor need some raise, it brings so much nostalgia
I now actually realize Gholdengo is made up of 1000 coins and is number 1000 in the dex. Well played.
Yea and you needed to collect 999 coins for ghimmighoul as it serves as a double reference that ghimmighoul is the 999'th pokemon
It is only a little disappointing they tried so hard for that ploy that they moved the past/future Salamence and Gardevoir-Gallade fusion away from the rest of the past/future forms to let the Gimmi family have those numbers.
@@Exaskryz RM and IV are the professor’s aces so it still makes some sense

The way they organized all the Pokémon was brilliant as it’s the way in which we encountered them over the years, which in a way I think is more important than the Pokémon themselves. They’re more than just digital manifestations of creativity: in a way, they’re memory. Each individual Pokémon species, no matter how popular or unpopular they may be, means something of great importance to someone out there. Maybe not for how cool they are or how usable they are, but for what was going on in the trainer’s life when they first met the creature. Sure a lot of Pokémon encounters are similar, or even scripted to be exactly the same, but our experiences in meeting them are as varied as the Pokémon themselves. Perhaps you lost a loved one and catching a Pokémon returned some sense of normalcy to the world, or some aspect of the Pokémon reminded you of the person and helped you through your grief by immortalizing them through nicknaming the creature in their honor. Maybe you see a Pokémon and it reminds you of when you first caught it while sitting on a friend’s couch after school, keeping your childhood alive. Maybe you met the love of your life at a Pokémon tournament or through a trade. Every Pokémon is important and deserves to be celebrated, and so too is everyone who aspires to become a Pokémon Master. Happy 1000!
Not really a happy 1000 because you can't have them all in one game :(

Sun and moon gives me so much nostalgia, as it was my first pokemon games over 7 years ago. It’s insane how long it’s been man.
I think it's really cool that they really went through the effort of showcasing each and every single pokemon sorted by how they're obtained. They say every pokemon is at least one person's favorite, so it's cool that everyone's favorite shows up on screen at least once.

I love the ways this groups Pokémon together. You have the starters, ones found in talk grass, ones found in caves, in water, ones that evolve through trading or a stone or some other condition, ones that are exclusive to a region, ones with different appearances based on gender, season/weather, or another condition, and so many more. Hey, it's Truegreen7! I have not thought about you in a while, it's pretty nice to be reminded of this channel.
It's hard to believe that Pocket Monsters went from a series no one expected to take off, even in Japan, to one that was meant to end in Gold and Silver, to this massive phenomenon that is still going 26 years later.
I'm happy to be part of it.
This franchise began with a little boy and his bugs with big dreams, to sharing that dream with all of us. Damn. 😭
It's still so hard to believe how far pokemon has gone since 1996. Whether it is bad or a good game, it's still mind-blowing. Here's to many more years of Pokemon!
What if Pokemon came out sooner on October 1990 as intended? If it weren't for Nintendo rejecting Tajiri's pitch idea the first time. And if not for bankruptcy or employees quitting.

Well said. Both the editors & the ones responsible for the music. They both deserve it. 😎👍
Counting up to a thousand but with random mons from all generations is so weird and wrong to me. Why not count up and show the pokemon added with each generation? Ohhhh because then we'd notice how much worse the new designs look compared to earlier pokemon
I was at first confuzzled about how they organized all the Pokémon, thinking it was random. Nnnnope they just did some ingenious categorizing! What a way to unite all 8 previous gens!
From the vast plains, scorched badlands, deep sea, and freezing tundras; to wide caves, forest trails, dark ruins, and oozing marshes; all the way to flourishing jungles, old buildings, vast beaches, and even in your own town! They're everywhere! Your story with becoming a Master may or may not have ended, but no matter what...

Throughout the entire video i was close to crying and THAT moment finally tipped me over the edge-
This was literally like a pokemon version of the “everyone is here” trailer and oh my god it made me cry so much. The amount of nostalgia I felt.
Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried over the Pokémon counting video. I'm in my 30s and have been playing Pokémon since Gen I, and this trip down memory lane really evoked the magic of this franchise that I felt as a child.
Pokemon never needed an "everyone is here" trailer, you just knew every Pokemon was in it until they had to announce a decade later that it wasn't going to happen anymore, same goes for everything else in the combat system except a few held items.
I know i don't care bout that gen 8 dex cut but, "half of everyone's here!"
Congratulations Pokémon! You make your fans so proud! Keep going hit 2,000!

i'm pretty sure those scenes are what the images in the pokedex are in Scarlet and Violet
Nothing quite like playing a brand new Pokémon game and finding a new Pokémon for the first time. That feeling of... OMG WHAT IS THAT THING, LEMME CATCH YOU is second to none

@@Ditto.007 Pretty sure he initially wanted to catch them all, but I think his motives has altered a little over time and now solely want to meet them all and be a Pokémon Master.
EDIT: Plus initially when Ash starting his journey there was only 151 Pokémon to catch; 152 if you count Ho-Oh from the first episode.
@@Ditto.007 Wrong, in the end of the very first episode he claims to capture every one of them.
Still one of the most beautiful videos I’ve ever seen I love this
And now we have like 17 more
After more than twenty-five years and nine generations of gaming, we've finally reached a thousand pocket monsters. What a revolutionary milestone.
It's actually 26-27 years since they are only covering the pokemon games
An Insanely monumental moment. Every single pokemon is someone's favourite and that speaks volumes when there are over a 1000 of them.
Yea, and it makes it all the sadder or madder when said favorite can't be brought in to the current game even with pokemon home.
I wonder if anyone else noticed that Dwebble appears with the Rock Smash Pokemon at 0:59, as it appears in XY. Every other Pokemon appears as they did in their debut game throughout the entire video as far as I can tell, all except for Dwebble
Sylveon at 3:18 is from SwSh instead of XY, the kanto safari zone pokemon at 1:58 is FRLG (Gen. 3 remake) instead of R/B...
These are all the songs used in the video that I am aware of,if I’m missing any please reply with the name of the song and a time stamp
0:00-0:13 Wild Battle (Pokemon Red)
0:14-0:29 Title Screen (Pokemon XY)
0:30-0:40 Wild Battle (Pokemon RBY)
0:41-1:07 Wild Battle (Pokemon Sun&Moon)
1:08-1:23 Ruby and Sapphire Opening cutscene

1:44-2:25 Safari Zone (FireRed LeafGreen)
2:26-3:24 Evolution! (RBY)
3:25-3:58 Lake of Rage (GSC)
3:58-4:08 Meeting Professor (Pokémon Sun&Moon)
4:09-4:17 Wild Area (Pokémon Sword&Shield)

7:52-8:07 Evolution (Pokémon Scarlet Violet)
8:08-8:44 Terrastalize! (Pokémon Scarlet&Violet)
at 00:30 was actually wild battle music from gen 1 (rby), at 00:41 was wild battle from gen 5 (bw)
@@ItzPetir oh thank you I was trying to figure that out, lol the remixes mixed me up
Pretty sure it's the last pokemon used in gym battle the last track used to showcase the paldean pokemon except gimmeghoul & its evolution
1000+ Pokemon. Back then, it seemed like a dream. But now, here we are. To ALL the artists who created these wonderful creatures, thank you. Just know that somewhere out there, your creations are someone's favourite Pokemon.
@@TehJakeify WRONG! Eiscue’s not my favorite, and you don’t seem to like it very much, but somewhere in the world, someone’s favorite is Eiscue!
@@TehJakeify like eiscue he’s a cool guy (pun fully intended) I can’t imagine that they’re the exception to the notion every Pokémon is someone’s favorite
Still cannot believe i can remember almost 1000 Pokemon names, also their movesets, abilities.... while i cannot even remember what i ate yesterday
Truly a wonderful tribute to how far the franchise has come.
I love how this has been edited. The grouping of Pokémon based on dynamic, from fishing encounters to the early com mons, was amazing. My favorite is the Egg hatching sequence - just lovely and so nostalgic.
Exactly, they could have easily just put all the Pokemon in one after the other based on Dex number, but the fact that they actually took the time to categorise the Pokemon into various groups, like early Route Pokemon and fossils, is so freaking awesome! Seeing the new Pokemon next to old ones from 20 years ago just makes my chest ache from nostalgia
What I find most interesting in this is that they did not acknowledge a separate grouping to showcase the so called pseudolegendary category. I know the naming itself has always been fan-made, but the group of Pokemon themselves exists on their own, being all of them 3 stages, with 600 BST, take a while to level up, etc.
This will never not make me not emotional i grew up with this franchise watched it evolve as i also evolved myself. Im truly thankful to be part of the OGs from start to now and still going Pokémon will always be my happy place nothing but love and admiration i hold for this franchise sure sometimes they make mistakes but no one is perfect. And i will stand at Pokémon and GameFreaks defense as in 2026 it will be 30 years thats a milestone for them and a huge honor for me. I will forever be a die hard fan even in my old age i will speak tales of this franchise if its not around by them. I will keep Pokémons name alive itll be passed down for generations. Because Pokémon is infinite the king of gaming will never give up its throne!!
Coming back to this video and seeing all the little touches is great, like pikachu being number 25 shown, or the stone evolutions being in cutout shaped like the respective stone, but i think my favourite incredibly small detail is the fact that when the tree pokemon show up, crabrawler is coming up instead of down, since it attacks from berry piles
For those of us who were kids when Red and Blue/Green were released, this is a hype nostalgia trip... IT AGES US LIKE CRAZY... But i love seeing how far it's come. And our parents all thought it would be just another fad
I’ve been their since the gameboy days gameboy colour gameboy advanced n64 GameCube ds switch everything and all games I’m 32 . This is absolutely perfect roll on the next 1000!!!🎉
Gotta catch um all!!
I was 13 when the games came out, now my son is 15. We played Black and White together when he was 4.
Shouout to everyone with a full living dex in their pokemon home. You really did catch em all…
@@pokemonoruns takes time but not impossible :-) i have a full living dex for gen1 to 8 im home with all the forms and have a living dex waiting to be transfered to home :-)
Just gotta finish Violet (after Scarlet) for Miraidon and then I'm caught up again!
That number NEVER ends, don't it. Remember, back in the day, there were only 151, and we Gen 1 veterans thought that was a lot...
@@HiddenAccount saying they were around in gen 1 doesn't make them a genwunner
@@darkblue62 genwunners don’t announce they are genwunners, it’s the joke lmao
Whoever edited this and composed the music in this needs a damn promotion
I will always love this series. It's the kind of game that really transcends even the barriers of language. If you meet someone who loves Pokémon, you will never run out of things to talk about. From the bottom of my heart, Satoshi Tajiri, Junichi Masuda, everyone at Game Freak and Nintendo, thank you. These monsters changed my life for the better. 💝
The music in this was phenomenal. It really brought it home for me when the Alola region theme kicked in, bringing it full circle to when I first played Pokemon.
It’s always nice to see fans that joined after Gen 1. I missed out on 1,2, and 3, and joined in around the beginning of 4. It’s fun to think more new people are falling in love with Pokémon from Gen 5 and onward. Cuz I always felt left out when it seemed most people were a lot more acquainted with Gen 1. Made me feel like most Pokémon “fans” were only fans during Gen 1 and didn’t care afterwards. I know most actually aren’t Genwunners, but for some reason I always feel that way.
(Basically as an artist who praises most newer designs above old designs because they have more unique intrigue, I could never understand the appeal of a good 75% of the original 151. My entire team woulda been legit 1. My starter, 2., the three eeveelutions, 3. the Dratini line, 4. One space Saved for Mewtwo. And it would never change, not once.)
I started before Alola, but I also love the Alolan theme when the music started playing. I was almost pumped because I love Moon & Ultra Moon. I still own them.
This is what 27 years of Pokémon looks like and...it brings a tear to my eye.
I started playing Pokémon in 1998 when it just came out in the United States with Red and Blue. To see it come this far puts the biggest smile on my face.
I _literally_ grew up with Pokémon!
Same here. It’s a pity Pokémon didn’t grow up with us, though. Ah, well.
Words cannot express how much Pokèmon means to me. I was 7 when i watch "Pokèmon 4ever: Celebi, voice of the forest." with my uncle on DVD and how i was very invested in the series. A short while later, I got my first ever Pokèmon game, Pokèmon Art Academy on the 3DS. I absolutely adored seeing and drawing the Pokèmon in the game (it was also the game that introduced me to my favourite Pokèmon of all time, Lucario). I eventually got Pokèmon X for my 8th birthday, a game i hold dearly to my heart. I was also given the complete DVD sets of the Kanto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Kalos anime for Christmas, which i watch religiously as a kid. I then got the my first ever Pokèmon "Pokèmon Diancie and the cocoon of destruction" on DVD along with "Pokèmon: The first movie", "Pokèmon: Destiny Deoxys", "Pokèmon: Lucario and the mystery of Mew" (my favourite one), "Pokèmon Ranger and the temple of the sea" and "Pokèmon: Volcannion and the mechanical marvel", movies i adore with my heart. Ever since then, Pokèmon has been my entire life as i collected games, books, plushies, cards, blankets, anything with Pokèmon on it, i would buy! Ever since Pokèmon Sun and Moon, I've had every Pokèmon game that comes out. To me, Pokèmon has been THE franchise to me and has given me nothing but happiness and i cannot wait for Pokèmon Legends Z-A! I will always love Pokèmon, no matter what!
I'm crying over the music. The Route 27 and 34 from Johto were beautiful. And the transition from the Johto wild theme to Unova wild theme was an unexpected surprise. That Ultra Necrozma remix put tears in my eyes. I'm not a huge Paldea gym fan but I won't lie the chant hits hard.
This may sound stupid, but I like how the footage included the games in different languages reminding you that pokemon isn't just big in Japan or the US but instead the entire world, love this franchise.
even in those where there is no translation)))
i noticed and appreciated that too. such a nice touch
Pokemon Is Popular In India Too
By The Way I'm From India
It does sound stupid, that’s a very obvious, very trivial detail. Much love anyways.
