- A very young James Mcmurtry from way back in the 80's some place in Austin TX
this had only about 5000 hits in two and a half years. Now with under the dome it's up to almost 28,000! Hope all you peeps out there just getting turned on to James go out and support him by buying his records and seeing his shows. The good ones never do get the credit they deserve - Hudba
Lyrics from this were in Stephen King's new book "Under The Dome"
Man! I have been a McMurtry Fan since '89, and just today found this. Much thanks to the preservation of Early McMurtry. I hope more of these recordings and videos are out there. The lyrics are slightly different from the LP . Great!
And still a great musician 25 years later. Still sexy, too! Thanks for posting this.
Outstanding! Man, this song sums up small town life to a 't'. It's not always nice if you aren't friends with or related to the right people. I've had to leave a couple of small towns myself in my time.
James us an awesome artist
From his first album to his most recent his body of work is unsurpassed in quality and content
He simply is the best artist in the US - period
Great post
Great musician and a great poet!
woooowowoowowow talking at the texaco was the 1st song i heard of him and started being a fan :D :D how nice hearing it live and very oldie ! :D

by the way.. great book!
I just finished reading under the dome like 3 minutes ago and i was not expecting it to end that wasy....what happened in some parts of the book was extremely sad and brought me to tears. Such a great book
James is an American treasure!
The music from the King Books are always good. That´s just it.
Great to see all the fellow SK fans here!
You should check out McMurty's " We can't make it Here anymore"
I'm reading the book, and as far as i've read, ITS REALLY AWESOME!

Also here because of under the dome.
I too had to look this up because of "Under the Dome". I finished it a few weeks ago, great novel.
I heard of this song from Sthephen King's Under the Dome, and that's why I checked it here. It's good.
Guitar mastery right here! Oh and by the way got here from Stephen King's Under the Dome. :)

Im looking this up primarily because of Stephen King. I'd never heard of this guy before, man

A friend recorded this off a public access show in Austin back in the late 80'S
Great book indeed and the song too! #undertheDome
Haha that got me here too

I'm currently reading the book and yeah it's interesting and even though it's not meant to be horror, I think, it's still creepily messed up.

Baaaaaaarbie
This is cool. Where did this footage come from?
Stephen king rules!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the "Under the dome" mentioned in the description?
e pro time nós torcemos
That's funny. Im reading "under the dome", too. Bud in the german version the song called "Talkin' at the Texaco", not "Small Town"
Talkin at the texeco is the name on the studio release; this was most likely performed before the first album was released.
love James got some cds but would love Charlamagnes Home Town on here - got the track just dont know how to upload without pics any chance
Childish Things got me through some hard times; a great album and one of the top eternal 5 albums of all times. His first will always be the best, but James has so much great material.
like i you are here due to "under the dome" jaja
cause SK, too
James only wants the troops to come home
@CairAndros Type in "james mcmurtry small town tabs" on Google and you'll probably get ten different websites with a tab.
