    Highfleet has pounded OffyD so hard that he stopped thinking about redesigning the game as much and has focused on surviving instead.

    "Captain, why are we constantly being hit by missiles?"
    "Because missiles are just impossible to deal with!"
    "Couldn't we use those handy flares?"
    "Don't be ridiculous. Never heard of such a thing."
    "And what about our AA guns?"
    "What? No, we need those to slightly annoy our armored opponents."
    "Could we at least stay at some distance to not...?"
    "No! We need to be able to hit the enemy."
    "Can I have a t.."
    "It's just impossible to hit them from afar..."
    "Please Sir, let me have a sh..."
    "Just impossible..."
    "What about doing probing shot..."
    "Make the men ready to smell some rocket exhaust!"

      This but unironically, if the crew could pitch in that would be grand.
      I didn't use flares often as I removed them from my custom design, along with guided missiles, since they run out too early in the game to be relied upon. Needed to git gud at playing without them for less important battles .
      As for AA, obviously that's in use the whole time, but since it is also the primary weapon on the gephard, it was often not ready for point defence. In the gladiator, that is less of a problem.
      In conclusion, missiles bad.

    • @96benwest
      @96benwest Před 8 měsíci

      @@OffyDGG Not sure what you mean. The flares reload after each fight. And running out during battle is very unlikely, especially if you only fire them against the dangerous missiles. The only tangible threat are cruise missiles. I found jet-fightes equipped with air-to-air missiles to be a good counter, next to quickly and surgically taking out the missile carrier fleets obviously.
      Hope you give the game another try with the lessons learned in your first run.

      @@96benwest I didn't think they reloaded? I figured you had to rebuy them same as fire suppressant and missiles. If they are infinite then then that's a whole lot better!

      "Sir, why are you getting the nuclear launch codes?"
      "Uhhh... What? Codes?"
      "launch codes for the NUKES?"
      "Wait what? No, I'm just launching regular missiles..."
      "SIR THAT'S A *KH-15N* "
      "oh, don't worry, the N stands for 'NOT a nuclear warhead' so we good."
      "Missile away.."

    With your desire for a similar vibed game but with giant landships, I'm curious if you've had a look at Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. I can't remember if you mentioned it at all when you did Homeworld, but it might be worth looking at, given what you said near the start of the video.

      Had it installed for literal years, still haven't played it for some reason. But you are right, it is just the sort of premise that I was ranting about, so I need to try it.

    From a bit of googling the Romani in this are actually pseudo-Russians in the 3rd Rome sense. With a healthy* dose of Russian orientalism. In (very) short anyway.
    I’ve never played the game myself, so I could very well be wrong, but I just found it to be an interesting question.

    You should take a look at "homeworld shipbreakers", it's got big cars and it's about a long journey through a desert. Very similar to this game now that I think about it

    I had a friend who played this and it took him 8 hours to get and capture Khiva but he also wasn't prepared for that final battle so it took 16 hours of just reloading the save until he finally won. yeah apparently that final bit it either extremely easy or basically impossible depending on if you were prepared for it. (capture the cities around it first and stockpiles lots of nukes and kill the other fleets around the place.)

      @OffyDGG  Před 8 měsíci +1

      That sounds about right. Knowing it's coming, you could probably have a few ships parked over the spawn points and at least know where to attack right away. But as I said in the video, the failure ending kinda suits the game too, so I am okay with that 😁

    You got way farther than I did lol, I want to like this game, but I guess the devs just wanted it to be "super hardcore." Also, the religious texts you were finding are prophecies of Jesus from the real world bible.

      @@OffyDGG It's funny that in this game, it's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. By being honest about it, you do become hated and rejected.

      @OffyDGG  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Ah right, thanks. A shame, but for me the fail state ending where it's basically the end of the world feels like a good fit for the game. I think if they added a cutscene to make it an official Bad Ending rather than game over, it would be good closure for the experience.

    So you're going towards the enemy's capital city and yo SOLD all of your nukes? Is nuking the hell out of the enemy city not an option or you just decided you didn't want to do it for roleplaying reasons?

    • @OffyDGG
      @OffyDGG  Před 8 měsíci

      You are supposed to capture it intact as you need the power plant there to survive the nuclear winter. It also says at some point that if you use nukes, the enemy will start using them against you, so feels like avoiding them is a good idea.

      @@OffyDGG I see thanks, I guess those cruise misslies are just too good, perhaps keeping nukes for the last partof the game if you could somehow use the elint to "know" where the enemy fleets are and nuke them then.
