    I just listened to several videos about the newly formed Global Methodist Church. This is indeed encouraging. I thought the denomination had become theologically bankrupt. I was wrong. There is a very strong contingent who still believe God's Word and this has been enlightening to me. P:ull away and make John Wesley proud.

    "How does change happen? It happens with some people saying I can't be a part of this and I'm leaving."
    "Change" as it pertains to the Biblical worldview is blasphemous. The Bible is God breathed truth that does NOT change. Where the church has gone wrong is by letting those leave who want to leave and letting them become complacent in their sin. This man is not alone, hundreds if not thousands of false teachers are bastardizing scripture in an effort to make money or maybe in some cases try to bring a younger generation to Christ. The problem with this is that this group will never really know Christ while living in sin. Now I'm not saying that I am without sin, however the Bible is very clear that those who provide false teachings will be judged more harshly. The premise is Love and I get that, but there needs to be truth in love. I hope this man realizes what he's doing and repents.

    We are to be changed, conformed to Christ by the renewing of our minds in Christ Jesus. There is nowhere in Scripture proclaiming that we are to be conformed to this world or its worldview. He uses emotional appeal when he tells us we need to listen to the LGBTQ stories as if those who disagree with him think these people are some kind of monsters and we need to see them as humans. That's a false flag. They are simply wrong and so is he. I challenge him to prove the correctness of homosexuality from the exegesis of Scripture. I have heard scholars attempt it and the contortions they have to go through are mind boggling.

    This is Adam Hamilton, pastor of the largest United Methodist Church in the U.S. (if not the world). He disagrees with the United Methodist denomination on gay marriage (he's for it). A brilliant man and gifted leader, he also disagrees with what "is written" in both the Old and New Testament about marriage as God created/defined it -- that this institution is between a man and a woman. You can love and support and be part of the LGBTQIA community without believing that gay marriage is God's will. God loves us regardless of our marital status.

    I’m sad for the people who attend a church where they don’t hear the truth.

  • @steveepperson7069

    People change and are transformed through the word. The word does not change through someones exprience of what they feel or do. This is so sad, it will lead many astray and cause more division in the church. The true church will began to be persecuted more because they stand for truth and not rhe lues of the devil and rhe world.

    The UMC was sunk long ago. They allow women to preach and teach (a mixed audience/men and women), thus having authority over men in clear violation of 1 Timothy 2:12. Once they caved on that issue and entered into error, it's no surprise that the homosexual marriage issue came charging up to bite them. Hey, if you're going to overlook the CLEAR directive of Paul in 1 Timothy, why not overlook everything else? Satan's thrilled ...

    It doesn’t make any difference how the culture changes. Gods desires for us are constant. If your claiming to be a Christian then Gods plan for a man and a woman are the same. What arrogance to think we will tell God what is acceptable. 😢

  • @paulsmith9868
    @paulsmith9868 Před rokem +1

    It sounds to me that he believes the church should follow and accommodate the whims of society regardless of whether or not it's morals are consistent with scripture. He seems to indicate that we can pick and choose what we want to believe. Of what use is the book of discipline? He sounds like he has gone far afield of any oath or vows he took to become a pastor. Any organization that tries to accommodate everything always sinks to the lowest common denominator. That's scary.

    • @JEricson
      @JEricson Před 5 měsíci

      You are correct, this is why I left his church years ago. Jesus didn't tell the sinner "go ahead and do whatever you want" he said "go and sin no more".
      1 John 2:15-17
      15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
      16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
      17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for
      Galatians 2:20
      20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

    Well, it’s now the summer of 2023 and Adam Hamilton’s huge United Methodist Church the church of the resurrection in Kansas City, is only a tiny bit of what it used to be only because he chose the wrong path. He chose to tell his parishioners. God will change his word for your new lifestyle when we all knew you must change your lifestyle to fits God‘s word, and now there’s almost nothing left of his Church goodbye Hamilton, you messed up.

    To dialogue is a two-way street. To see another side of the dialogue from ex-gays and lesbians who have come out of this lifestyle see the video: czcams.com/video/VKSFPdyH8x4/video.html They will tell you that it is a dead-end life - full of frustration and depression in an unending search for happiness that can only be filled and healed by turning to Jesus. I would love to see a dialogue between Charlene Cothran, Walt Heyer and Adam Hamilton. Now that would be interesting!

  • @dcecalvaryumc2130

    Try listening to what Hamilton is actually saying: Have you actually considered entering into real dialogue with someone who has experienced life differently from you? Have you ever sought to enter into real dialogue with God, by which is mean, honest, sometimes heated discussion? "God said it, I believe it, that settles it" is the anti-thesis of dialogue. Check out the conversations between God and Moses, Abraham and others - it was not a one-way relationship. The Jews have always understood this.
    Dialogue moves our brains from defensive "fight or flight" dualistic mentality into a more unified, open stance. Here, we allow ourselves to be changed by the engagement with the other, and by this, we start putting on the mind of Christ. By the way, you can see both mentalities in the apostle Paul - he is a human after all! Divine truth and small human reasoning are both present in the text. That's what makes the Bible so fascinating and transformative! If you can see it as the story of our species, in all of its horror and splendor, maybe we can see where God is moving today, and where our souls are needing to connect with God and each other in unprecedented ways.

      Wow. Thank you! I would LOVE to have more dialogue with you about this issue. I would love to talk to you about my story Richie. It's a long and hard one, one of a kid who grew up in an evangelical household... who also happens to be gay. A man pursuing ministry, by God's calling... who also happens to be gay. I would be happy to have a conversation with you.

      Dialogue starts with proper adherence to scriptural authority, if you don't start RIGHT there, dialogue is meaningless. Scripture is clear about homosexuality, we don't hate them, we love them by telling them what God says about their lives.

      I just stumbled across this. I agree with you Richie. We are all sinners, look for the good in people and help them find God regardless of their circumstances. I don't always agree with Hamilton, but I think he's doing OK on this issue. Judging people is not an earthly endeavor..... "proper adherence" to scripture below is an absurd remark....

    So very saddened by these fearful and emotional responses... But this is normally the kind of shallow reactionary ego that fills comments pages. I hope that in time, all of you will be able to leave the idol of bibliolatry and serve a God who is much bigger than the Bible and Christianity (a quite human system). I understand that takes a lot of time and energy, but once one has been able to let go of smaller idols that make them feel safe and secure (all in the interest of protecting little ego me), it becomes easier to let go of the bigger things. Blessings to you all in this exciting age of post-Christian emergence :)

      The word of God is the revelation of God, Himself, thus a high view of God breathed Scripture is in fact a right ordered affection, not a form of idolatry. It's more likely that you have made sex, sexuality and contemporary political discourses an idol to justify behavior that contradicts the Bible.
