This is what I’ve been saying all along, Minecraft console edition has that charm to it that no other version has, it really performs really well on a technical level, and it’s got custom superflats that not even bedrock can handle because of phones tablets and iPads!

I’m primarily a Java player, I have a lot of time on both, but I just generally prefer the feel of Java. With that being said, DONT convert long term worlds over unless you are ok with having to reset your nether and end. At the beginning of last year, me and a couple friends decided to convert our bedrock realm (the only thing we really used bedrock for) to Java, and both the nether and end were broken. Overworld mobs spawned in both dimensions and in the end it was constantly raining.

I haven't seen any issues in the world I converted from Bedrock to Java. Just the animals were removed so I will have to collect new ones but small price to pay to be able to switch back to the better version of the game. It really does just feel better to play. In Bedrock you can tell it's just a crappy port of the old mobile version. Then you also get away from all that Microsoft microtransaction garbage that is woven all throughout Bedrock edition. I was super excited for Windows 10 edition when it first came out but over time it just disappoints me more and more.

A lot of what I did, like eventually switching to bedrock, was inspired by you. I miss the console edition but I'm glad I've stuck with bedrock and that you stick with it too. Initially my big draw to bedrock was the multiplayer between editions. It seemed early bedrock was really unpolished compared to console edition but looking at what we have now, it's really come a long way. And like you I look forward to whats to come. Glad to see you're still gonna stick with it, cause I am too, and that sense of community was really one of the big reasons why I was so invested in the console community in the first place. I have followed you (off and on) for many, many years now. From the console supremacy days all the way to the modern day. Due to technical reasons, I now primarily play Java, but loved the console versions the best of all. I really think that the console versions were the most thoughtful of all the versions, and that "Bedrock" is too enormous of a platform to stay stable. i386, amd64, armeabi-v7a, *and* armeabi-v8a is insane for any development team. Then, you have the logical complications of the hardware restrictions of devices like really old iPads and the Nintendo Switch, as well as the infinite flexibility of a desktop computer. I was really sad that Bedrock is not available for Linux officially, but I do understand and respect the choice. I switched to Java because of your mentioned stability reasons; Bedrock had crashing habits, and on Linux (and MacOS), had a habit of running unofficially, but being out of date always. I like Java, but do have to admit that it is held back technologically in a way that I can foresee Bedrock not being; single-threaded performance. 4GB RAM, potato GPU, and mechanical HDD won't stop Java from running stably, but mediocre (all laptops and definitely all tablets) or poor single-threaded performance brings the game to it's knees.

In regards to maps I prefer using them as like signposts along routes.
My world is always sprawling over thousands of blocks so it's a simpler way to let you know where you're going.
Not that I play with other people. I don't want anyone ruining the things I've built but it is laid out in such a way that if anyone were to join they would be able to find their way around since there's a map at basically every fork in the road or rest stop along it.
For example, my spawn area has a village which contains a map of just the village.
Then, if you head out of the west of it there is a shack for a banished witch sheep herder on a mountain which contains a map of the entire area surrounding spawn to the northwest.
From there there is a road that forks all over the place but the main branch heads towards about -1400, 1200.
Along that primary section of road there is pillar at 0, 0 in front of which there is a map section that shows everything in that area.
Just a little more up the road there's a beach which also has a small mat for the beach itself since that was just to the northwest of where the other maps fit.
Further along again the actual building is not yet built but in a handmade canyon there is a rest stop to be with a map of the canyon trail in front if it.
To the mostly to the mostly North of the canyon trail there is a fork in the road that leads to another village that I'm redoing and at the entrance of the village there is another map of that general area to the north of the canyon trail.
To the west of that there's another branch that heads off towards a frozen ocean well in the distance.
At this gated entrance there is another map of this section of trail and also towards the North.
At the end of that last dection's map once you get to the North is a horse stable rest area.
This map depicts the trail around this rest stop but also the ocean behind it where my squid farm is that leads out from a beach (after another small canyon trail) just to the south of that rest stop.
This rest stop was once a village but I took everything down and made it a ruins instead.
To the north of this rest stop is another fork which has the map for that area, the main trail now twisting momentarily back towards the east before splitting back off towards the Northwest and Southeast towards the northern shore above my squid farm.
After it forks back towards the Northwest you come to a village which has a larger map of this entire area including the area to the South that the last map didn't have as well as further to the West.
Then once you make it out to the West from there, there's another map that has the deadlands and the gate to them which are what's in the area.
There are many more sections like this but that's just the main trail.
Anyone who could get lost in my world is incredibly bad at reading a map, has a terrible sense of direction, or both.

I have decided as of recently for my personal self to only play older versions of Minecraft as they feel more natural for what Minecraft was going to be
Nowadays with any update to Minecraft it feels like I'm playing a mod on top of a mod on top of a mod it doesn't even feel like the base game anymore, so personally I can understand where you're coming from as somebody who plays Minecraft on the PC as well but I do prefer playing beta 1.6 on the Xbox 360 or even Minecraft first release 1.0.0 when the end was just added .
There is a multitude of reasons why I prefer the older updates
And I'm not going to lie the main one is definitely nostalgia to an extent , but other than that playing beta 1.6 gives you a feeling of survival that you don't get to feel anymore , sometimes there's more beauty in something being basic then there will be when adding more to it
    That is my opinion however
And if you are wondering if you go into your Xbox 360 game files and you click on the Minecraft when you find it there should be a thing that will pop up saying with quotations or in capitals "MINECRAFT TITLE UPDATE"
Just delete the games title update and if you have the game downloaded on your Xbox 360 rather than on disc you will play beta 1.6 if you pop in the disc you will play Minecraft first release 1.0.0
It is definitely preferred to not use an Xbox live account while doing this because gain corruption can occur and account corruption can occur although I'll be at very rare it did happen to me so just giving out the warning lol
Thank you to anybody who read this long comment and may you all find peace in your domain :3

Glad you are not moving to Java! Before I started playing Minecraft, I was a huge fan of watching the let’s play and tutorials of all the CZcamsrs and found myself watching all Java content. When I decided to play it to spend time with my son, all we had was an Xbox, so naturally we played Bedrock. I didn’t even know there was a difference at the time but quickly became aware after spending hours on a farm just to have it not work correctly and spending hours troubleshooting to figure out where I had gone wrong! Finally after learning they operated differently, I switched to only watching Bedrock CZcamsrs because I wanted to be able to do what they did and if they mentioned a mechanic I wasn’t aware of, I wanted to be able to try it out! Now many of my favorite CZcamsrs are moving exclusively to Java, or splitting their content between the two, chasing the views. While I understand that, you have to make a living, I don’t enjoy their content anymore and mostly just open the video, leave a like and comment, and then go on searching. It’s getting harder and harder to find good Bedrock creators!

I'm a Java-first player who recently got into Bedrock on the Switch so I could play online with my brother, but I've been watching your videos since long before that. For years I never would have considered sacrificing precious hours to Bedrock as a player, (much less on Switch, but that's its own thing,) because why would I when I could be playing Java instead, but I always found your videos informative and interesting for getting new perspectives on the game. I think it's certainly fair to say that I would have been much less open to trying Bedrock (even for the sake of spending time with my brother,) and much less prepared in doing so, if not for your content. Something I greatly respect about you as a creator is the distinct identity that you bring to both gameplay and video making, and not only the uniqueness itself but also your confidence in that. People know what they're getting when they open a Toycat video, and they know it's something they probably won't find anywhere else. I'm not going to lie, one of the big reasons I stopped playing in survival was due to just how tedious it is now to get what I would want. I used to love when I could explore an 800 by 800 world and I'd have every type of wood available, almost every structure available, etc.
Now I need to travel thousands of blocks to get from a desert temple to a woodland mansion for example.
I think that's one of the reasons I miss console edition so much. Obviously, I can turn it on and play, but it's 9 major updates behind, I'd miss being able to build with deep slate, get actual pet fish, etc.

Java boi here, but I've played on most other editions at one point or another. I really only play Java because it's what I'm most comfortable with, not because I think it's superior or anything. Bedrock and Java have things the other needs, with particular features I want parity for being potion cauldrons/old combat. Maybe one day there'll be full parity across editions, but maybe we'll find we don't actually want that; maybe the differences are what makes each version special, necessary even. Who's to say.
I'm glad you're keeping up the versions you enjoy. It's good to do what you're doing. I can't word good rn bc I'm very tired but I'm glad you're advocating for what you believe in. Have a prosperous and safe 2024.

I haven’t been truly paying attention to Minecraft content for very long (around a year I suppose now) but it’s so funny how I have the complete opposite perception of Java verses Bedrock when it comes to maturity/seriousness of content on CZcams. The “low risk kid friendly” channel my children watch uses Java. Although you don’t take yourself too seriously, the first serious Minecraft content I saw was here after I stumbled from your “second” channel so I can’t shake the “Java content is silly mods and differences that will kill me like the useless underwater door trick” feeling.

Supposedly by March 31st, although it shows as unavailable already for some people. NN3DS will be going too, although that’s not a legacy edition. It’s really sad considering WiiU edition went on for more than 8 years, but the time has come. 😔

Minecraft World Conversion while impressive, is still a bit of a mixed bag. The offfical tool is limited to 500mb world, which isn't cutting it for larger worlds. Paid Software does transfer mostly everything, but some entities will still be messed up, like tamed wolves, cats etc, and nether & the end¨s biome data gets completly corrupted from my experience. I tried world converter once in 2021 and late 2023 and nether got creepers spawning in there :P
Its fixable with mods, but at that point, better just delete the whole dimension, which is not ideal.

Meanwhile me playing on the switch waiting for chunks to load if i ever go slightly to fast with a horse.
Also getting an elytra is so pointless in that edition, main reason behind that is due of the switch slow "disk speed" and being forced to auto save every minute making it even worse. For those curious about the auto save, there is no option for some reason to disable it.

  • @Liochibaba

The 360 had been making a lot of noise and got warm quickly which is why I left.

  • @Warlock8ZERO

Talking about sticking with a version because of some arbitrary reasons seems a bit stockhomeish, if switching to Java would mainly just have benefits, then nostalgia shouldn't be the only reason holding you back from a better experience..
Plus there are better map conversion tools than the official one, and you can add plugins on Java to re-add any bedrock features you want to keep, including much better view distance, even than console.

My current longtime survival world I made just after Christmas 2017 on the PS4 and converted it to bedrock when it came out.
Mid-late 2023 however, whenever I pressed save and exit while in the world, it would instantly cause the world to corrupt.
Every update I’ve checked to see if somehow it’s been fixed but it hasn’t.
My world opens fine but exiting it and reloading will corrupt it.
I have a backup that I managed to make on a time it somehow didn’t corrupt but I haven’t played the game in months because of this.
Sorry for the long comment but if anyone knows what I should do in this situation please let me know.

I grew up with the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft and some of my proudest and my accomplished things were on the Xbox 360 edition but also the Xbox one edition
including the mental idea of draining all the water from an ocean monument entirely, killing every guardian and turning the ocean monument into a base
which surprisely after a friend helping out and dying 6 times we actually succeeded
(the plan for doing this sounded so stupid and insane that it didn't sound believable
    but the plan was
to bring a cow all the way to the ocean monument
Kill the first elder guardian for the sponge
Use the sponge to dry out the room at the top of the ocean monument and turn that into a temporary base (while placing a crafting table a furnace a double chest and 2 beds)
Then 1 of us uses the sponge on the water and then dries the sponge and repeat while the other one kills any guardians that try to interrupt until the whole ocean monument was drained of water and every guardian dead) after that my friend and I called it the most insane but most accomplished thing we ever did this was all done on survival without diamond armour or tools
(even to this day I look back at that very day that my friend and I conquered an Ocean monument and drained all the water from it as well wondering if I could ever do it again in that very same way) I even have a world which I built on bedrock that has a library of every memory I have from my first day of Minecraft xbox 360 edition (which was 2 days after its release) to the final day of Minecraft xbox one edition
so even if my Xbox 360 edition and Xbox one edition worlds are gone the memories will always live on of the old times my proudest times and accomplished times
