    Note: The Men's Triple Jump final at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City was actually probably the greatest Triple Jump competition ever, as we saw 5 men exceed the previous world record at the time (some wind-aided). But I stuck with the modern era focusing on competitions with 18m jumps in this case

    • @wilhelmw3455
      @wilhelmw3455 Před 2 měsíci +5

      Note : In this competition the triple jump world record was broken a total of 5 times by 3 different jumpers including once in the qualifying round also Mexico City is at high altitude which is an advantage for the jumping and sprinting events but even so probably the greatest triple jump competition of all time.

      @@wilhelmw3455 Correct, I will also admit, along with altitude, its interesting because many of the jumps apparently had perfect 2.0 winds. But yea

      ...and interesting many of the best competitions of all time have just two guys duking it out, when it feels like this year we can get around 4 guys jumping 17.8m+ in one comp. I think that real breakout comp with 3-4 guys in and around 18m is coming soon!

    • @TheFinalLeg
      @TheFinalLeg  Před 2 měsíci

      @@georgec2894 Yea i was wild in the moment just watching the results each round!
      But your right, for the most part it has always been 2 guys going back and forth. In 2013, Christian Taylor was injured in Moscow, In 2015, Will Claye was injured in Beijing, while in 2016-2019 Pichardo was injured, so there was never a true 3 competition. But We may finally see it this year!

    Great analysis, Anderson! As an ex (and mediocre) triple jumper, I think that Jaydon Hibbert will develop into something completely different. His elasticity, technique and form look unreal, cartoonish, CGI generated. If he doesn't get injured, he will make 18:50 look like a walk in the park.

    Did anybody notice that the runway and pith were built on a platform 6 feet above the track level. I don't know why the organizers did this. It is the first time I've seen this in an outdoor competition, but it is frequent indoor. Everybody knows it gives off a beneficial bounce to the athletes : two jumpers over 18m and the bronze medalist significantly improving is PB is proof. That simple. Should not have been allowed.

    @TheFinalLeg Interested in your take on the raised runway in this competition. Help or hindrance?

    • @TheFinalLeg
      @TheFinalLeg  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It definitely helps, but is of course not illegal. The women's triple jump at Euros was not out of this world, same with the women's Long jump. But I would be lying if it didn't give a bit extra, similar to how certain tracks may be more beneficial. But I am interested in know the difference between the raised runway here in Rome vs something like at the Randall Tyson Center indoors at Arkansas which is slightly raised.

    Quick s/o Britton Wilson whose season is basically over, look forward to seeing her back @100% next yr! Cuba is without a shadow of a doubt in terms of population size & resources the most impressive country in the sport's history when it comes to consistently producing world-class Jumpers & Throwers; Sotomayor, Moya, Pichardo, Diaz Fortun, Pedroso, Echevarria, Copello, Borges, Olisdeilys Menendez, Yarisley Silva, Aldama, Savigne, Yaime Perez, Bisset, Costa, Marten, Caballero, Perez Hernandez, Povea, Quintero & many more! Pichardo vs Diaz Fortun vs Hibbert vs Zango 🔥🔥🔥 Got social media beef now between Pichardo/Diaz Fortun, be amazing if all this rivalry causes Andy Diaz Hernandez (17.75m PB) & Lazaro Martinez (17.67m PB) to also raise their game 🤞

Saw that South Carolina Freshman Phenom JaMeesia Ford recently entered into both 200/400m @US Trials instead of just the 200m as both events are a wk apart in the schedule, so wonder if others like Gabby & Abby will do the same if as expected the 400m doesn't have both Britton & Syd in it @Trials, or will they both play it safe with running just the 200m?!

    The competition was a farce and the jumps shouldn’t stand as records. The runway was on boards, not on firm ground. You can hear the hollow surface as they run on it. I don’t understand how everyone is getting so hyped. They won’t get near this in Paris unless they plan on having a gymnastics floor again for the competition. This shows how much of a joke aport Athletics is, zero accountability, zero expert analysis, just so sad.
